Wayne's Poems - 2. Lust

I see you there.
I don't pretend this is more,
and that gives me strength.

You step near me.
Your eyes, question, but I'm sure.
How this ends I know.

This isn't love.
It doesn't mean that it's wrong.
Touch begets goosebumps.

You sigh, I smile.
I don't pretend this is more.
Tonight, we shall lust.

I don't know where it came from, but it wanted out.
Weird, strange, and unknown for me to do anything that doesn't rhyme. I... like it. Yes, I'm surprised.

This poem works for me. I can feel the anticipation and electricity.

Thanks, Parker.  As I said, it's not deep, but that was purposeful.  I wanted it to feel blunt, unambiguous, and inevitable.  🙂

Just as lust doesn’t need any more of a definition, neither does the rhythm of this poem, or any other that you write.

When your verse or verses resonate in the beat of your heart or the wave of a thought....there is your rhyme (and reason).

Nicely done.

Thanks, Fanlit.  "Poetry" to me was something very specific growing up.  It had to rhyme.  Such is the way I was taught.

So it has taken until... well, now, for me to move beyond that.

I appreciate your thoughts.  Thank you, again.

I think it's a great poem. There's a lot of feeling there. And it does have structure, even if it doesn't rhyme. It's good.

I don't know how I missed your comment.
Thanks, Thorn.  You already know how I struggle with a lack of rhyme in poetry, so this was a weird little triumph.  🙂

I like how you narrate emotions through actions.  "Touch begets goosebumps" and "You sigh, I smile" are to absolutely amazing lines. Loved it.
