Wayne's Poems - 14. Home

I miss the hills, the music and sound,
of my old Kentucky home.

I yearn for days spent with kin around,
with no urge or need to roam.

Family and friends, they were everything,
there's nothing truly to say,
to help you hear the banjos that sing,
the fiddles and voices play.

I'll never again be welcomed there,
I'm different now, and they know.
But a bluegrass boy can dream and share,
my love I can't help but show.

Though feet can't my heart will go.

Thanks to @AC Benus for suggesting I get my feelings down in a poem. I'm not sure how "good" this is, but... it makes me want to cry. So, I guess it has that going for it.
