Cernunnos - 32. Chapter 32
All of the new findings were relayed to Arric and the surrounding pack leaders. From the receipts found in the abandoned truck, it was obvious the rogues were staying in Green Bay. Ken made a list of the places and had several officers canvas the businesses for statements. "Since these rogues are y'all's pack, I'll let Claude decide when to bring it up to SFBI. I recommend now so they can assist in the manhunt."
Shea agreed. "Yeah, I'll call Arric." The wolf turned away with his phone.
Cyn was going to join the enforcer, but a hand clasped onto his shoulder. "Young'n, I can't say how happy I am you tagged along!"
He looked up to the giant alpha's gleam. "I just want to be helpful."
"Well, you're beyond helpful. I'm quite jealous of that nose of yours. Do you mind me asking for your help if I ever need it?"
The buck grinned, "Sure! I don't think Sheamus will mind." A group of people formed behind the yellow tape, catching Cyn's attention. "Who are they?"
Ken turned and scoffed, "Reporters, trying to get the scoop on the body. It's best to ignore them."
A few flashes of light came from the crowd, causing Cyn to rub his eyes. "What was that?"
The alpha led the deer away, "You haven't been around humans, have ya? That was a camera, someone's taking pictures." Kara and Jaime positioned themselves in front of their friend, creating a makeshift wall. "Good job, you two. I don't know if Thomas knows what Cyn looks like in his human form, but we can't be too careful."
Shea rejoined and held Cyn at the hip, "Arric's calling the SFBI. They'll be here in the morning if you want to get your pack spokesman ready."
"Will do. I'll send Claude our reports so he can be in the loop. In the meantime, let's head to the station. We can go over our initial findings and recorded evidence. Y'all might see something we didn't."
Jaime took a step forward, "Alpha Rogier, I noticed the cameras in the bar. Is there footage?"
"Yeah. Jaime, right? I heard you're good with them computers and things. You might be able to help out with that."
The Sheboygan group followed Ken's SUV to the police department. Following Shea closely, Cyn felt a sense of unease. There were many uniformed lycan, and even a few other species of shapeshifters who gave him a glance or two.
Once Ken noticed, he let out a low growl, "Back to work, folks! Anyone working on the Martin case, all overtime is approved." Almost every head dipped back to their work and quickly ignored the group behind their leader. Ken opened a door with his name etched on it and walked inside. "One more time, my apologies, Cyn. I'll make sure I talk to everyone on their behavior."
Cyn shook his head, "That's not necessary, sir. I know I'm not a common sight, so I understand their need to look."
The alpha grumbled, but sat down with a sigh, "I hear ya. I guess it can't be helped when a deer walks through the station." A chuckle left his lips, "You didn't show an ounce of fear back there. How long have you been around these wolves again?"
Shea pecked Cyn on the head, "It's been a week. I'm so proud of you, pup."
With the man holding him, Cyn rested his head on the lycan's chest. "I think I'm starting to look at everyone as people instead of wolves."
"Or maybe, you're thinking yourself a wolf! I've seen cats that grew up around dogs and acted like them, but to see a deer around wolves has piqued my interest." He pressed a few buttons on the desk phone. "Sheila, I'm sending a young man down to the evidence locker. Come up and show him everything on the Martin and Lyons case."
"Yes, Alpha."
The call clicked and Ken looked at Jaime, "Shelia's over evidence and she keeps one hell of a database. Go with her and do whatever you need to do."
Jaime nodded. When the door knocked and a middle-aged lady came in, he bared his neck to Ken and went with the officer.
Ken opened the folder and waved his hand, encouraging the group to advance. "Let's get to work, folks."

With the truck's dashboard and interface disassembled, Kieran attached a cord to the USB port to his laptop. Alright! I just hope the GPS can tell us something. Opening several software programs, his fingertips flew. It took minutes to download the log needed and he retracted the cord. Excited from his success, he leaped out of the vehicle and held his computer under his arm.
Entering Arric's house, he hollered, "Alpha! I got the GPS log! Just need to go through the recent timestamps."
The alpha strolled from his office with a grin on his face. "Good work. The Tracking Trio are going over Rogier's files. Apparently, Cyn practically cracked one of their murder cases."
"No shit?" Kieran smiled, “You go, little dude!” He took a seat on the floor and studied the logs. Separating out the dates before Cyn’s attack, Kieran scrutinized every detail. Opening his laptop again, he opened a map program and started inputting coordinates. Kieran made side notes on each point, dictating a time and date. Let’s create this timeline! Once I get these in, I’ll grab the receipts log and add those.
As he worked, Arric paced aimlessly in the kitchen. The lanky lycan snorted, “You’re looking a little lost, Alpha.”
Arric grunted and leaned against the island, “Shut it, Kieran. Just trying to make myself more useful. I can’t do anything until the SFBI arrives.”
“How about you come help out with this? I’m putting in the locations and timestamps into a cloud doc. Grab your laptop and I’ll share the link to your email, so we can work simulantiously.”
The alpha straightened up and squinted his eyes, only to shrug and go to the office. He returned with the computer and sat in the recliner, “Alright, what are we doing again?”
Kieran rose to his feet and moved next to Arric, “I just shared the document, so pull up your email and click on it. It will open the file and we’re just putting in the data from these papers.” The alpha held the logs and set them on the armrest, “When you enter in a line’s coordinates and timestamps, it will automatically rearrange it to be in chronological order with the others.”
“Interesting, does it do that on purpose?”
“Yeah, I put in a command function so I don’t have to keep scrolling up and down all the time. Anything to make life easier, am I right?” Kieran pointed out a few more tasks for the alpha to do, but after a minute, he caught the wolf’s stare. Arric’s eyes quickly drifted back to the screen, sniffed, and grabbed the logs to begin.
Nervousness washed over the scribe as he walked back to his floorspace. Just as he took a knee to sit, his neckhairs stood. Looking back at the bigger man, Kieran caught Arric’s eyes darting to the computer. What’s Alpha doing? He’s acting really weird. Returning to work, Kieran typed silently. For the next half an hour, the stares would come more frequently, prompting him to either ignore them or glance at Arric. I’m not sure what he’s doing, but it’s starting to creep me out.
The duo stopped for a quick coffee break a few hours into the typing. Arric managed to keep up with the entries, much to Kieran’s surprise. “We’re almost done typing. After we get the last one in, we can transfer the coordinates into a mapping program and see the traveling timeline.”
Hearing their progress, Arric grinned, “I like that. We’ll see their bee-line and anticipate their next moves.” The alpha looked at Kieran, swiftly scanning him from head to toe, “Nice job, kid.”

Darkness loomed over the sky, and it was Ken’s yawn that prompted Shea to look at his phone. “It’s getting late. We can pick this up in the morning.”
“I agree!” Ken leaned forward in his chair, causing a few squeaks. “Get on out of here and grab some shut-eye. Farren, would you like a few badges to watch over you guys tonight? I see Miss Turbin there falling asleep, so unless Jaime got some sleep in the evidence locker, you four need some rest.”
Kara blinked and straightened herself. A red mark was left on her cheek from her hand placement. “I can stay up, sir. This is nothing.”
Shea shook his head, “Nope, you and Jaime have been at it for a while without proper sleep. Alpha Rogier, it’d be appreciated.”
“Sure thing, I’ll round up some volunteers. Coffee for the road?”
Cyn’s eyes gleamed, “Yes, please! Do… Do you have milk?”
“I got a little bit of creamer to throw in there.”
As the group prepared to leave the office, the alpha gave Cyn a disposable coffee cup. Taking a sip, the deer appreciated the offer. It doesn’t taste as good as the one at Arric’s, but it’s okay. With one hand on the cup and the other in Shea’s, Cyn was comfortable being led through the station and to the car.
By the time Shea parked at the hotel, Cyn had demolished the drink. His gasp could not be contained as he looked up to the giant building. “What is this place?”
“It’s a hotel, somewhere people can sleep for the night if they’re traveling. The rooms are small but it has the essentials.” The enforcer led the way with Cyn at the hip. Checking in, Shea was handed two key cards and immediately gave one to Kara. Grabbing their bags, they walked down the hallway to their room. Cyn’s face lit up when he passed the elevator, recognizing the steel box from the hospital. “Maybe before we leave, little man. I know you had a blast last time.”
Entering the room, Cyn took in the details. With two beds and a small bathroom to the side, the deer was intrigued. “So, this is it? It’s kind of like your home, Sheamus.”
Kara and Jaime snickered at the unintended burn, but the delta didn’t seem to care. “I see it, but mine has an actual kitchen and a larger TV.” Turning to the couple, Shea tilted his head towards the bed furthest away from the door. “Cyn and I will take this one. Just make sure to keep it in your pants tonight.”
The comics couldn’t hold themselves back and Kara whispered, “As long as you do the same, Enforcer Farren.”
Shea growled and set his bag near the window. “Let’s get ready for bed, pup. Do you want to take a shower?”
Cyn quickly nodded. Hearing the suggestion put a smile on his face, but confusion washed over him as Shea took a hand, leading him to the bathroom. When the lycan closed the door, he pressed his lips against Cyn’s. Welcoming the intruding tongue, the deer opened his lips. Cyn yipped as he was picked up and set on the bathroom counter. His mouth was captured once more, but the contact didn’t last long.
Shea lifted up on the deer’s shirt, “Get naked, Cyn. Let’s get cleaned up before things happen.” The wolf watched with lustful eyes as the shirt was removed. Cyn sat still, reveling in the feeling of being alone with his boyfriend.
When Shea began removing his polo, Cyn was mesmerized by the hairy chest. He was disappointed when the lycan turned away to start the shower. “I’ll be right back, just need to grab some shower gel.”
Alone, the deer hopped off the counter and put a hand under the falling water. It feels nice! Not too hot, but definitely warm. He unbuttoned his jeans and let them fall. Stepping into the tub, the stream firmly pounded his skin. A hum escaped his lips and dipped his head further in. The door opened and Cyn smelled the pepper-laced odor. “Sheamus?”
“It’s me, little man.”
The deer heard cloth ruffling and a few heavy footsteps. A hand pulled the shower curtain and the bigger man entered. Shea’s eyes squinted and scanned the buck’s naked body. The lycan’s growl was subtle, but Cyn almost welcomed the sound. Bottle in hand, Shea squeezed a healthy amount out and shut the cap with a finger. Lathering the gel, he rubbed it over Cyn’s slender frame gently. “You’re so sexy, pup. I can’t believe you’re all mine.”
Cyn stepped closer to the lycan and combed through Shea’s thick chest hairs. He reached behind the wolf and grabbed the bottle. “Can… Can I wash you?” Shea nodded and the deer poured a healthy amount. The two men scrubbed each other with wandering eyes. Cyn reached for the bulky biceps, only to pull away in excitement as Shea flexed. Grabbing them once again, the buck was smitten by the lycan’s show of strength, “They’re so big and hard.”
Without saying a word, Shea lowered his arms and held Cyn by the hips. The hands went farther and cupped the cernunnos’ cheeks. “And these are so soft and grabbable.” Their damp lips met and soaked bodies connected.
Cyn moaned as Shea’s member pressed against his. From the prod and his butt being held, the deer felt a sense of pride in his mind. Is… Is this what’s it like to be mated? To have someone who wants me?
The kiss broke off and Shea huskily breathed, “We need to finish cleaning up. I’m sure Kara and Jaime need a shower too.” The two rinsed the soap off and turned off the water. Opening the curtain, Shea silently cursed at the amount of towels and grabbed one. “Here you go, we’ll share this one.” The enforcer sniffed Cyn’s neck and licked it lightly, “It’ll help blend our scents a little.”
The deer nodded and patted himself down. He would look back at Shea to find the wolf staring. When he was dry, Cyn handed the towel off and stepped out of the shower. Leaning against the counter, Cyn wanted to return the favor and never took his eyes off Shea. The lycan noticed and slowly wiped the cloth against his body. Every time Cyn looked up to his boyfriend’s face, the wolf swiped his tongue outward, causing the deer to shiver. I… I wish we were alone.
With the men dry, Shea pointed to a pile of clothes near the sink, “Grabbed you some shorts to put on.”
Cyn unfurled the designated pair but was confused at the size, “I think these are yours.”
“They are, but I want you to wear them. I think it’s hot to see you in my clothes.”
Hearing the explanation, Cyn slipped them on and pulled the drawstrings. Taking a few steps, he felt they were baggy, but knowing he was in Shea’s clothing made him smile. They smell like him. Shea opened the bathroom door and led the deer to the bed.
Kara held a small bag in her hand, “I’ll shower next. You got point, Jay?”
"Yeah, but remember? Alpha Rogier has a team outside for us. We don't need to be on alert."
"Sorry, guess I am that tired. I'll be right out so you can get clean." She shut the door and the shower kicked on shortly afterward.
Shea pulled back the comforter on the bed and wagged a finger at Cyn, signaling for him to join. The deer climbed under the blanket and was immediately pulled closer to the lycan. He giggled as his neck and face were peppered with kisses. “Sheamus!”
A hushed growl vibrated against Cyn’s neck, “Fine, but you’ll need to find a way to be less cute.” The two looked at each other, but the buck’s eyelids were getting heavy. “Get some rest, pup. We’ll be back at it in the morning.”
He nodded and rested his head on the pillow. Cyn felt the warmth of Shea’s body and closed his eyes.
