January Writing Event- Auld Lang Syne - In honor of Carlos Hazday

The Prompt Team event is in full swing, and judging from the response we got, there will be a lot of stories to read in December!  Like it or not, the New Year is fast approaching, which means so is the first writing event of 2025.  It's hard to believe this will be our second writing event in honor of our dear friend Carlos Hazday.  For newer members to the site, Carlos was a fixture of the GA community.  He welcomed and mentored new members and authors, was a great advocate of and participant

Featured Story: Matteo Went Ahead

Matteo Went Ahead by Aditus Reviewer: chris191070 Status: Complete Word Count: 1,096 This short semi autobiographic story featured in the In To Deep Anthology 2024. This is a very short tale where we find the author drawing on true life experiences. I'd suggest having tissues available, as this story whilst only 1000 words really packs a punch. We discover what it's like to lose a parent, which will have many of us thinking about what the future may hold. A re

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov.3 - Nov. 9)

Or            No matter who you prefer, Daffy or Sylvester, they both have what's on my mind! I'm at a loss on what to expect of late. Snow one day and cold temps for 3 or 4 days, then mild summer days (20 C) the next few. Rinse, Repeat and carry on. Luckily the snow tires are on! So, tell me how beautiful it is where you are. Tell me it is sunny and 80 in Florida, or California! Let me dream   Speaking of which, the past two winters I escaped in January to Hawaii. This year,

Status Updates - Discontinued

Invision Community 5.0, which will be released soon, has decided to discontinue several features. One of those features on the front-facing part of the software was Status Updating posting from your profile. We are shutting off the feature to get ready for future upgrades.  With the next release of this software version, they will start nagging us to do so, and I don't need more nags in my life. I have opened a new forum to allow for status and chatty content. https://gayauthors.org/fo

Ask An Author 3.0 #39

Can anyone guess how many Swiffer dusters I needed to clean this blog? Oooo gurl, she was dusty! Even my fingers don't know what to type here. Have I lost my touch to interview our fellow authors? Surely not, but good thing I had a lovely chat with @chris191070 before this year's Anthology event started! All praise the Ask An Author piggy bank.  In case y'all forgot how Ask An Author works, I have the wonderful pleasure of interviewing an author on GA on behalf of an anonymous reader. With

November CSR Feature: Hustle by Talo Segura

It's November, can you believe it? Canada just had their Thanksgiving and this month the US has ours. Do other countries have this holiday, or ones similar to focus on family and giving thanks? Share that below, if you want! In the vein of the focus on family, I wanted to share a story with that same theme, but this is no fluffy and light story, so be warned! Sometimes family is all we can count on to get us through this painful journey life thrusts upon us. Hustle by @Talo Segura

October CSR Discussion Day: Turnabout is Fair Fae by Valkyrie

Did you read this month's feature, a short story with all the thrills and chills for October? Turnabout is Fair Fae by Valkyrie was a fun quick read, so I hope you'll share your comments below after you read my interview with her! Let's share the love (or shudders... you know, whatever works!)  Do you eat your fruits and vegetables? I eat a lot of veggies, but not much fruit.  I like the flavor of fruit, but not the texture.  What are you wearing (and no fibbing!)? It’s 6:30

Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 20 - Oct. 26)

Sadly I have to admit, Monday was the first day of the fall that it happened  As much as it pains me to admit, I'm going have to use the 4 letter s-word... It was a beautiful weekend but around 9 AM things went downhill. By the next day it was gone, but still not the warmest it has been.  Now I learned back when I was a wee child, if you are at a loss for words you could always bring up, 'How's the weather?', or 'What to you think of this weather?' Because it is late at night even in

Check it out! I.D. by @CarlHoliday Length: 3,071 Description: At the time it seemed a good idea, but how it played out nearly cost Charlie his life. Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 13 - Oct. 19)

Okay, how was your week? Mine kind of sucked, but there is not much to do about it.  So here is what I thought I'd ask. We always hear to control what is in your control and to not fret over for what you don't control. The way I read this is there is a lot of things in the world out of our control, but when negative things happen that are not in our control, it is what you do after that you can make the decisions and control the eventual outcome   Now if I didn't lose you already with

So what did you get up to this week? Once again, my heart goes out to everyone trying to recover from Helene, and now a whole bunch more people dealing with the aftermath of Milton   Now not sure if you know, but there is a lot of exploding going on the surface of the sun. What that means is that the northern US and all of Canada and even Great Britain and Scandinavia are having some pretty spectacular viewing of the Northern Lights (Not to be confused with Steve ). Weekly Wrap Up (Sept. 29 - Oct. 5)

Well it finally happened   After several nights of the temperature dipping down to just above 0C/32F, and me going to bed a bit hotish () in the evening and waking up shivering, I think I got the start of the first cold of the season. Well, not a full blown one. Today was a day that was focused on wearing a couple of layers of sweatpants and sweatshirts and some wool socks. Also my eyeballs are floating a bit with all the water I have drank. The throat isn't that sore anymore, so I might ge
