March CSR Discussion Day: Break the Day by dragonenthusiast

Did you read this month's featured CSR story, Break the Day, by dragonenthusiast? Share your thoughts on the story below, but first of course, is my interview with this GA author who just passed their first year mark a few months ago!  Have you ever gone out in public, realized your shirt is on backwards, and just don’t care? That actually happened to me just last week. I was sitting at my PC working and then realized something was scratching me on my collarbone, found the shirt tag, a

I am exhausted   If anyone has worked with software for the entire workplace, I'm sure all I need to say is SAP upgrade, and you will know my pain. My company had 5 different buckets or regions and we are working towards 1. This means teams and teams of people all verifying data, processes and other such stuff region by region until their live date. Me included nationally. I start early, leave late and even today I woke up at stupid 5 AM when I didn't have work today. Tomorrow I do, so

Weekly Wrap Up (Mar. 15 - Mar. 21)

I was about to write a blog about how we are only halfway through the month but then realized that we only have a few days left 😮 In the past day I've had April showers in March bringing May flowers, and March snowstorms killing any May flowers that popped earlier than April. Wait, did I F that up? Well yes I did. I cannot judge what month we are in anymore by the weather outside.  I know I once read that Medellin, Columbia has an average temp of 22 C/72 F year round. I could live with that

It appears to be that time of year 😮  This is the week that we find out who pretends to have a bit of Irish in them, and those that have a bit of Irish in them and those that are Irish ☘️Git your minds out of the gutters I'm past the age of going out and getting inebriated on alcoholic drinks that are green or really cheap draft beer that has been coloured green  The only thing I do is wear something green in order to ensure no one pinches me. Story Tags and Genre Updates

If you saw the announcements, I have been tweaking both Genres and Tags as we lurch ever closer to our major software update going to version 5 of Invision Community.  Invision has altered how they are handling tags and as such, we have to change Stories as well.  One of the nice things coming is that readers will be able to subscribe to genres and tags so when new stories get posted in the genre or with a tag, they'll get notified.  Though I'd only follow the more obscure ones, so you are burie

National Poetry Writing Month

April is National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo), which is why we choose to feature our poetry anthology then.  What is NaPoWriMo? It's a time to honor all things poetic and also to encourage people to give writing it a try.  Like National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November, there's a challenge to be attempted.  Write thirty poems in thirty days.  Several site members have tackled this challenge, and continue to do so.  The goal isn't to write perfect poetry, but simply to get somethi

I'd say Beware the Ides of March  but I don't know what that means . So I will take a break here and go to Google... ..... ..... ..... How rude, you'd think I'd research this before writing a blog   If you are like me and didn't know, it turns out the Bard used it in the play Julius Caesar. I guess Caesar went to a fortune teller, or I would probably guess that the fortune teller was summoned to appear before Caesar, and foretold of Caesar's impending death. He thought i

February 2026 CSR Discussion Day: Spring and a Ring by Grizz

Did you read this month's CSR story? I love a good country story, as I grew up on and around farms, horses, cattle, sheep, and can spot who wears their boots in the saddle versus who wears their boots to be fancy (and yes, we did make fun of those visitors at fair!). I love asking what's something personal about you that people might be surprised to know and getting all sorts of answers to my interview questions to share with GA members about our authors, and getting to read more about a fellow

More Poetry Help

Last week, we explored Haiku as an introduction to writing poetry.  This week, I'd like to discuss free verse.  Remember that poetry does not have to incorporate rhyming or meter or stick to a particular form.  Free verse embraces that concept, which gives the writer virtually unlimited freedom to express their thoughts.  Free verse does not follow any particular form or rhythm.  It tends to follow natural speech patterns, but doesn't have to.  I think of poetry as painting word pictures - it's
