Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 8 - Nov. 14)

Is late better than never?   Okay I need a show of hands from the 10's of 1000's of you that read the weekly update religiously every Sunday  Yesterday I sat down to watch the heavily advertised Alex Rider Point Blanc. I thought maybe one, maybe two episodes and I'll be good. Next thing you know you are done the whole season and you look at the clock and it is 12:15 AM Have you done this? If so, what show(s)? Just a short preamble this week. Let's see what happened at the blog.

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 1 - Nov. 7)

What's up world?  I'm beginning to think I'm living in hell. What is the famous saying, when hell freezes over? Well that is happening right now in my little corner of the globe. Snow, winds of 80 km/hr or 50 mph, and just downright miserable since about 4 hours ago. I think it is time to throw the flannel sheets on the bed 🥶. So I do want to do a special shout out to @Renee Stevens and @Valkyrie, who have agreed to postpone the deadline for the fall anthologies to the end of the month

Ask an Author 2.0 #37

Fourth year, first issue! Yeah, yeah, yeah… I know that’s not a proper sentence. So sue me. As I compile responses, the U.S. presidential election is less than a week away and I’m a little stressed. When you read this, people have cast the final votes. Who won? Okay, no politics. Let’s talk about this month’s Ask an Author question. Once again, it dovetails nicely with the one asked last month. The member who sent it in asked me to select the authors it would be forwarded to. Not wanti

Well happy Candy Hangover Day!!! If you partook in Halloween last night that is. I guess all day yesterday I wore a mask a lot of day, but not a scary one   Talking with some friends, they said they bought the same amount of Halloween Candy this year, knowing full well that they would probably have less than 10 percent of the usual trick or treaters. The reason? They felt they could eat all the candy they wanted and not feel guilty and not worry about running out before the end of the

CSR Discussion Day: Fairyfly by ObicanDecko

Well it's almost over for October, and it's nearly November! How quickly the time does fly. Get it, fly? Like Fairfly, this month's CSR feature by ObicanDecko! Did you read it? Make sure you share your thoughts on the story below! But first, as always, my interview with the author for readers to enjoy!  Do you eat your fruits and vegetables? Yes! I love my fruits (watermelon, peach, strawberry, you name it) and veggies – I could eat broccoli and spinach every day. If you were an a

Boo!!! So did I skare you ? It is less than a week now to Halloween. Does it seem due to Covid there just isn't the real excitement that most years have 😢  In my city/province trick or treating isn't banned or restricted, but some strong recommendations to keep both yourself and the kiddies safe. I wish I lived in a two story house, I so would have a plastic pipe or tube running from a second floor window and shooting the candy down to the kids that do come out. Heck, I would prob

October Classic Excerpt: Jack Scribe's Life's a Grind

Did you catch Monday's feature with Jack Scribe's Life's a Grind banner? Why exactly IS there a mask on it? Hmm... answer in the comments if you know! Or share what you thought of the story if you've read it.    I picked this section of the story, a few chapters in, because it gives you a good sense of Jeremy's character. He's pretty smart for a teen, certainly responsible, but wowsers... the curveballs life's bringing his way could be interesting. Well, if you're into that sort of thi

Happy October! Thanksgiving for our Canadian friends, Halloween for just about everyone, or all sorts of festival fun if you're not a follower of the candy trick-or-treats theme. The year is passing by so fast, and we're almost done with 2020 (whew!). I thought the title of this month's feature was apt for how many of us probably feel about this year.... Enjoy! Well Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends Although I'm sure many people are wondering what Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas will look like this year, I'm sure we will all return to what is most important to us and celebrate that! You tell me what that is to you.   So I do really want to take a moment out on this weeks wrap up to give a shout out to Carlos and all he does for the Ask An Author 2.0. G’day, y’all! Can you tell I’ve been writing something with an Aussie and a Southerner as the main characters? Who cares, right? After all, you’re here to read what other authors have to say. I’ll shut the heck up for now. ҉ ҉ ҉ Which author/poet (alive or dead) do you identify with most, and why?   ҉ ҉ ҉ @BDANR I'd say Essex Hemphill. His work moved me with its rawness, activism, and he elevated other marginalized, talented authors not seen as having a story

Weekly Wrap Up (Sept. 27 - Oct. 3)

So goodbye to September and onto October. Can you believe that Canadian Thanksgiving is a week from Monday See, we have our harvest done before a lot of our southern neighbours. The holiday is about the same, rooted in early settlers giving thanks to not only the Native Americans they encountered at the beginning, but everything that happened in the previous year. Hopefully topped off with a bountiful harvest to carry through the winter. We have turkey, tons of veggies, mashed potatoes, gravy,

Weekly Wrap Up (Sept.21 - Sept.27)

Hello Folks! How are you all doing on this Sunday? I think it is Sunday everywhere but soon to be Monday in Australia and New Zealand. We do have quite a few members here that are from those two countries and I imagine others that are others just over the international date line too. So that gets me thinking  and that isn't a good thing. I remember this idea was first brought up to me in a Superman movie when I was a kid. What if you could fly faster than the speed of light, and you flew We

September Classic Author Excerpt: Palouse by Rec

Did you catch Monday's feature with the banner for Rec's story, Palouse? Check it out if you want to feature it in your signature. So I live in Washington, so I know how special this region of the state is, how scenic it can be... but just how few opportunities there can also be for anyone who is 'different'. Rec's story has all of that and more. I think you'll enjoy this excerpt as well.  Click here to read more

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 30 - Sept. 5)

Hello Fellow GAers, or can it be GAyers? It is funny how some cities' residents names are made. For example I live in Calgary, we are Calgarians. When I lived in Lethbridge for 10 years, I said we were Lethbians . Needless to say my fellow Lethbians didn't find it as humourous. Jeez, its a joke  The province next to me, Saskatchewan, their peoples call themselves Saskatchewanites. And then the city of Moose Jaw in that province call themselves Moose Javians. Hi, my name is Steve. First and
