March CSR Feature: Ridley by Krista

Welcome to March's CSR! I've decided to feature a short-novel length story that's bound to create a connection for many of us to those youthful teen days which resonated with the many readers who read, commented, and reviewed Ridley by Krista. I hope you will enjoy the story if you haven't read it yet and will come back on the discussion day to help encourage Krista to write part two... if she isn't already. Hmm... maybe a question for the interview? Ridley by @Krista Length: 33,4

Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 27 - Mar. 5)

Well howdy ho good neighbours   So let me start off to say that all the blogs and comments from some of the Northern Hemisphere peeps stating that spring is starting to show up or it's coming... STOP  In my neck of the woods March and April I believe are our heaviest snowfall months of the years. Get a huge dump, melts off a few days later, huge dump, melts off a few days later, repeat. I sure we sell more windshield (windscreen  ) washer fluid than most places in the next two months.

Ask An Author 3.0 #14

I'm not sure about everyone else, but the weather in Kentucky's starting to warm up a bit. Well, at least for the moment. The chilly breezes were welcome for a short while, but I've had enough snow and ice. I'm ready for summer! Bring out the swimwear and IPAs! But you know what else we need? The March edition of Ask An Author! I'm all smiles with this month's featured author, although he might hunt me down after this introduction. One of GA's Signature Authors, Big Daddy @Carlos Hazday! If you under the age of 40, and never watched SCTV or not Canadian, you probably have no clue what I'm quoting and wondering also what I'm drinking too! Although SCTV was moved to the US after a lot of years of success in Canada, I think it was the precursor to SNL but not sure how many watched it. I'll put in a post below a clip of this video that I was just serenad

Life... it's those dramatic events that keep on happening while we try to keep our heads above water! The last few weeks have been a strong reminder of that for me, and my daughter's 18th birthday this last weekend just drove it home. What happens when these young adults all finish school, split to New York, California, and Texas, and start to find their way in life on The Other Side by Mellicat? Well... I hope you'll read it and find out!    Length: 29,083 Description: Thre

Well Howdy  I'm in a great mood today! Why? In most provinces of Canada we have a stat holiday on Monday that is called in most places, Family Day  I know my American cousins to the south can't believe how many stat holidays that we have up here. I don't think so  So here is my rundown of stat holidays in Alberta which is the province I live in. 2016 Secret Admirer Contest - Revisited

In 2016, thirteen stories written for the Secret Admirer Contest posted in time for Valentine’s Day. The stories were very different; some made readers cry and others made them laugh. One year later, a story review was posted for Valentine's Day to remind readers of all those wonderful tales. Since this month's blog review falls on Valentine's Day itself, we decided to repeat the Special Review. But in addition, we would like to ask you to tell us which love story on GA is your favorite and

Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 6 - Feb. 12)

💝💞🥰😻 Happy Valentines Day Eve 💜❤️💛🫀 Well enough of that   Now I'm curious, is there a story that you read here at GA, or maybe not, that is nothing less than an amazing love story? Is there a story that you have written that is your idea of being one of the greats?  I know we all have been challenged as authors and poets to try a different genre when writing. So how about we challenge our readers here on the site to try a genre of love stories. Just need a list started to get us a

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 30 - Feb. 05)

Wow, what a week it has been for me   First I was back to work. I did not take up the offers of my peers to get a shotgun in my face or get pushed over Niagara Falls  Actually I had a pretty good week doing nothing  I'm all for that  So this week I did all the things that I put off all week last week: laundry, bills, cleaning, trying to pick out new flooring. Whew, you're lucky I'm not in bed catching up on my sleep since I'm so tired  Or maybe you wish I was in bed   First week of the

If you did and just need to put your finishing touches on it, make sure to get it done today! 2021 Reviews Revisited

Our Review Team has put together a list of all the Reviews that they did in 2021. You can click on any of them to see the actual blog. Maybe there was one that you said that you'd read, maybe one that piqued your interest, or maybe one that just looked like it would be a new foray into and different genre. No matter what the reason, here is your second chance to see the Review. Being a New Year, on behalf of the staff at GA and I'm sure all of our Poets, Authors, Readers and every one in be

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 16 - Jan. 22)

What to do, what to do, what to do? The company that I work for has a fiscal year of May to April. So our holiday calendar year is also May to April. Turns out that I actually have 4 weeks to use up, due to carryovers. I'm thinking I'm going to carry over 2 again and try to use them in the summer. But now that I'm off this upcoming week, I have nothing really to do . I thought of visiting @Krista in Kentucky, but it is warmer up here right now . That and the promise, "If you show your face

January Classic Author Feature: Pilots II by David McLeod

This month I'm keeping the fantasy theme going and featuring the second of one of David McLeod's series that have one of my favorite mythological creatures, Dragons! Hopefully you'll join me (and continue to read on in the next story in this series too).   Length: 50,999 Description: Two boys from Earth Analogue III awaken on World, and learn that if they ever will fl

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 9 - Jan. 15)

Can you believe we are half the way through January  From my eyes and ears on the ground, I hear that some of the cold from Siberia to Canada has now hit down towards the south of the USA and Europe and beyond. So how is it in your neck of the woods? Any snow ball fights? Making snow angels? Is your dog refusing to go outside to do their business?  Well I promise we won't send the cold freezing weather to our friends in Australia and New Zealand  Well we had a slow week to start the GA Blog

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 2 - Jan. 8)

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night if you are heading to bed 🛌 I wonder how many of you did the age old tradition of making New Year's resolutions. We are 9 days into the New Year and I'm also curious if you are still maintaining your resolution, or has it fell by the wayside already 😮 I know of one person who is trying really, really hard to keep up their resolution, but wonder if is good for their mental health. I mean, they have been on the earth for nearly 4 decad

Ask An Author 3.0 #12

The holiday season is officially over with, and I haven't been happier! For those who just did a double-take, let me explain. January through March is a resting period for us retail folk. It's a time of recovery, restructuring, and... Uh-oh. I forgot about inventory counts! Can we go back to the everyone not knowing how to drive and Christmas songs on repeat? Hmm? Ask An Author? Yeah, I suppose we can get back on track. But first... ⚠️ALERT! ⚠️ The well has run dry! The well has r

January CSR Feature: Dragonborne by Xfighter1984

Well, I don't know about you, but I sometimes have a hard time facing the rest of winter after the magic of the holiday season has ended. Now it's just extreme weather and no fun... so I thought we'd enjoy some magic of a different sort and the fun of a coming-of-age short story with Xfighter1984's fantasy tale Dragonborne. And for those who like their tales to continue... a little birdie (read: the author note at the bottom of the last chapter) says there more in store for this world. So if you

Wow, this blog is going to cover A LOT of stuff. After all we are going to cover last year as well as this year too ! But if you were like me, it seems harder to remember the good stuff from last year, which there was, from the bad stuff . But we are in a new year with new expectations . I would like to remember a good friend of GA and to many on a more personal level as well, the passing of Comicfan. His contributions and participation on the site will always be in our memory   On the
