Sci-fiction sub-genres explore the possibilities of what might be generally through the power of technology.  There are certain sub-genres of science-fiction that have some very strong tropes that you must follow (The tropes themselves define the sub-genre).  Be aware of them when tagging your stories.
 
Sub-genres: Apocalyptic and Post-apocalyptic, Cyberpunk/Tech Noir, Dystopian, Hard Science Fiction, Libertarian Sci-Fi, Military Sci-Fi, Science Fantasy, Soft Sci-Fi, Space Opera, Space Western, Steampunk, Utopian

More leads on science fiction and science fantasy!  This post is going into my "GA Info" folder for much future reference.

Some stories could have been in the listing(s) but were probably not marked in the appropriate sub-genre by the author.  For example, the Doorways/Doors series by @Geron Kees has dystopian and post-apocalyptic elements, as the main characters try to discover the why of what is being investigated.

@JamesSavik also has many good short stories and a couple of longer ones which would fit into some of these categories, as does @Cynus.

@Myr, these deep dives you are doing in various fields are a great service to readers such as myself.  Thank you!  And Myr -- some of YOUR stories beg for sequels, please!  all you would need to do is find an extra 40  to 60 hours of extra time in each week....

Paul, I'm glad you are finding them useful!  and 60 extra hours a week would be quite handy, yes.  I write in bursts when time allows.  work eats most of my time.... then the site eats a bunch and when what's left.  some day. 

We have two more primary genres left before we start fresh again in 2024 with Adventure.

I plan to work on some items for author outreach on genres during the holiday slowdown.  I also plan to set something up so we can update older stories where the author is no longer active to take advantage of the newer genre options.  And some more material on defining genres for people that are confused.

After all, authors have some great opportunities to write in underpopulated sub-genres. (like Utopian or Steampunk or...)

Some really great works on these lists; and some that I need to check out, but my first thought, is that I truly miss dkstories, he was just so talented.
