Is it just me or is it dark in here :o? Where is my menu bar? Well the say that things that don't change go stale, so keep that in mind at times when you hate change :P Wait, Google is dark for me too! My Documents is empty 😮 WTF 😮

A bit of a surprise when I logged in tonight. I mean everything else I have is in dark mode, so why not GA, right? The thing is, I don't know what I did or if I can reverse it :gikkle:

I do have urgent matters to attend to tonight 0:) so we are going to to do short and to the point.

First though, I wanted to discuss the word Karen, not necessarily the name. I mean I have a few friends that are named Karen, but they are not 'Karen's' Does that make sense? So I know 3 Karen's that are definitely not Karen's. I don't know an IRL Karen that is a Karen, but I'm curious, out of all the Karen's you know, how many are a Karen and how many are not? Thank gosh my parents didn't name me Karen :gikkle:, must be confusing.

Enough nonsense, here is what happened at the GA News Blog this week.

Monday, Cia was kind enough to introduce us to a new Signature Feature:

Have you checked out any of the Non-Fiction genre here? Well Myr has lined up a bunch of stories that fall into that genre?

Cia moseyed back in on Wednesday to give us the Signature Feature Excerpt:

Thursday, Valkyrie came through for me  She took a question I had and put a blog forth regarding it. Check it out:

Friday, if you did not get enough Val the day before, she was back with the Prompts this week:

Okay, 2 weeks in a row I did not know a single Word of the Day. So I'm very proud to say... I knew 1 :D this week!

rataplan, tyrotoxism, thalassic, tergiversate, thaumaturgy, turpitude, ebullioscope

Yes, that would be confusing, and you'd probably end up going through life like Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue."

I'm guessing you knew "turpitude".

Would that be because of its more common usage or because he'd been accused of moral turpitude?  Don't worry, we still love you, Steve!

I also know several females named Karen and one named Kaaren (pronounced (car-in), and she was definitely a Karen.

Lois Williams had another song related to "A Boy Named Sue," ("Sue" was written for Johnny Cash by Shel Silverstein).  The song by Lois Williams is titled "A Girl Named Sam" can be seen on YouTube here:

And @wildone -- I'm  guessing you knew either "turpitude" or "thaumaturgy" on @Myr's word list.  Those are the two I knew.

Thanks for these Weekly Wrap Ups, @wildone.

Actually, that wouldn't be so bad, because girls have an easier time with a guy's name.   Sam could be short for Samantha, I've met girls named Billie and then there's Ricki Lake.  And on top of that, there's a lot of names th at are used by both sexes, like Shannon.

I hate the use of "Karen" to describe rude, entitled people.  I know several people named Karen who don't fit that description in the slightest.  No one is going to name their kids Karen anymore either, because no one wants them associated with that behavior.  :(

Interesting that it's a female name, as well.

A male "Karen" is a "Chad".

Yes, I think I’ve heard morale turpitude used in novels and crime shows. I had to look it up the first time I heard it.

For those commenting about ‘A Boy Named Sue’, when I wrote the comment I was 100% thinking of it. 😉 But we are aging ourselves :gikkle:

Cassie, thanks for pointing that out. Never thought about it, but you’re 100% right.

I haven’t heard Chad, but that is probably due to what Cassie said.

Great round up as always, thanks for the work you do.

I knew three of the words this week, yea me...

Strangely enough, I know several Karen's but none of them are "Karen's".
