A suggestion for a possible future story contest, if @Cia and you, @wildone, and @Myr and anyone else necessary for the consideration --

How about a contest where writers write a story under their own names, but try to write in the writing style of a different author -- and then we readers have to guess which author is being style paralleled? Possibly @Geron Kees writing in the style of @astone2292, or @P. E. Knapp writing n the style of @quokka, or @Backwoods Boy writing in the style of @Lee Wilson, or @Mancunian writing in the style of @dkstories? (Sorry, Craig, I couldn't get your name to come up.) Of course, these are just suggestions.

Might it even be feasible? I don't know. Admins, what do you think?

I doubt very highly I can write in someone else’s style. I couldn't recognize style differences if I tried. I have a bunch of favorite professional authors. Give me a book by Dean Koontz and Stephen King that I’ve never read before, I could only guess at which is which.

Secondly, Craig’s been in the hospital. @Albert1434, any updates there?

I wrote this poem for Craig!

In the Silence

In the silence of the night, I miss you, Craig, A void so deep, a heart that aches. Your

Don't poor Steve him, he deserves every little flake that slowly melts, with the shock of the chill landing on his wee head.

I also know I couldn't write in another person's style. Authors have their own habits, sure, but to be 'that' hyper focused on something to be able to copy it, would be headache inducing.

---- I wish @Mancunian well, sad to hear about their health issues.

---- The weather here is typical for late October, the mornings are crisp and chilly, wet from the dew. Sometimes the day warms to a nice day, but if there's a breeze, it doesn't. We can have all four seasons in the same week this time of year, a few days ago it got up to 80 degrees, it was lovely. We haven't had our first hard frost yet, either. We could use a little rain though.

@wildone Those who choose to live in the far north must learn to live with the weather that comes with it. Snow in October might be rare, but not unheard of, so grin and bear it while getting out the snow shovel or the snowblower. Oh, and don't forget the longjohns too, if you don't want anything important to freeze. :no: :lol:

Back in my hometown area after 22+ years in California. One of the things I missed in CA was a snowy, quiet evening walking along the streets watching the snow fall and the peaceful feeling of untouched snow piling up in fields and parks. It always looked so pretty.

Let's see if the reality matches the memory when I am out there shoveling snow! haha

A tip for our libation-inclined friends ... some kaluha in your hot chocolate adds an extra layer of warmth. 😋

I'm the one who runs the contests and anthologies (with the exception of the Secret Author Contest) with input and help from the rest of the Team. Thank you for the idea. I already have a list of contests/events for next year. Writing in someone else's style is quite difficult to do well and can cause hurt feelings if done poorly. We already have something similar (although not writing in a specific author's style) with the Secret Author guessing contest. Over the next few weeks, I will be revealing more about upcoming events, so stay tuned!
