I do this every year at this time :P So, if you are in a area that falls back, you can prove to Cher that you really can turn back time :gikkle: 

If you missed turning back, you can go back to bed for an hour. I'll let you ;) Heck, even if your clock didn't turn back, go back to bed for an hour :)!

After watching the video though, you might want to watch the Village People singing In the Navy :whistle: Who's your favourite sailor ⛵ 

I am not going to ask anyone about your thoughts of time changes, as this is a family blog and some of you really told me your feelings back in March :o 

So instead, I want to know about your reading habits. Or if you come to read or just come to enjoy the conversation of the community in general? Do you like reading the anthologies since it was so topical all of last month? Do you like to read stories from new authors, or do you stick to your true and tested groups of Authors and Poets? Do you read by genre pretty exclusively? Is there something you would like to see more of in stories that would get you reading more? 

This is not a sanctioned GA survey, but just me being curious on what you enjoy to read.

If I'm honest, I'll admit that 16 years ago, I was in a pretty serious car accident and my head got knocked around a fair bit. All of my mental faculties seem to be okay (some will argue this point vehemently (stick that in your Word of the Day, @Myr) :P )), but I found reading like I did before more challenging. Of late though I've started reading a bit more. I'm hoping this is a promise that I can keep to myself :yes:. I think I like most genres and I also like to sneak in and look at some new authors. I should read more Poetry, but like a lot of us, we shy away from it as we were never really influenced to read it growing up. Keep that in mind, Steve! I do like romance to be honest. When two guys fall in love, usually with something that is preventing them from just going for it, it captures my heart.

Enough about me, I could go on for hours :gikkle:

Thursday was a great day! @Valkyrie wrapped up all the GREAT Anthologies entered this year. Don't be shy, leave a comment on which was your favourite. Also a huge thank you goes out to the Proof Team. I volunteered for the Poof Team, but Valkyrie had 3 questions that I could not answer so she turned me down :(. A really huge round of applause 👏 for Valkyrie! Also to @Cia and @Myr for all the background support and artwork. All together, the authors and poets, the proof team, the Admins, but also the readers, you made this years Anthology a success! Congrats all :hug: 

Oh, before we jump to the Words of the Day, I'm going to throw in another question to you all. I live in a closed condo building and I think there might be 3 or 4 kids under the age of 16 living in the building. So it saves me money on buying candy for Halloween. I don't need any for myself :P. One consistent thing I heard over Friday and Saturday was how many kids that different people I know around the city visited their houses? A lot said it is the first year that seemed like it was pre-covid. They said they also have a lot of 12 - 15 y/o's in pretty amazing cosplay characters that they felt deserved the candy even at their age. So how was it in your neck of the woods. Slower than usual, about the same, or busier and how much so?

Second week in a row that I knew all the words, don't think that has ever happened before, at least for me...

Love reading it all, but anything historical, mystery, or sci-fi/fantasy is always a big plus for me.

My neighborhood has a lot of older homeowners, and very few of them do the candy thing, so in general my area is pretty quiet.  Had less than a two dozen under 8ish, maybe fifteen or so 8ish to 12ish, and about ten or so older than 12ish...  Most of the under 8 were in and out by 6ish while the next group was in and out by 7:30ish; but the last group of older kids showed up at after 10:00 p.m., I was probably the only person on my block still with a light on at that point.

Ah, Cher, truly an Icon in every sese of the word.

Same here.  I bought candy but no one showed up, so guess who gets to eat all of the goodies.  😜

Romance is my go-to genre, but I generally like most fiction, especially mystery, adventure, with splashes of romance. I'm just as likely to re-read old favorites as I am to seek new material. My attention span hasn't been great in recent years, so I often lose track when stories are posted over some longer period of time.

In a very out-of-character move for me, I watched a documentary this weekend (Screened Out)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6809010/. Parents are watching it at school next week and having conversations with the school counselors. I think I may try giving more pencil and paper work and less online. It's a conundrum, though, because students do get some benefit from the near instant feedback when they're practicing problem-solving.

Halloween is huge at my international school with decorations throughout. We spent all morning on 10/31 having outdoor lawn games and a costume parade. Students and parents for the youngest go 'trick-or-treating', weaving their way throughout the school, in and out of classrooms, with the older students staffing the games and handing out candy. The government is frowning on the holiday this year, so there weren't any public celebrations or costume parties at clubs.

My neighborhood really goes above and beyond with their decorations.  It's really cool to see, especially the evil clown circus and skeletons climbing all over the houses.  One house had a whole graveyard with really cool gargoyle gravestones with light-up eyes.  I have a feeling trick or treaters stay more on that block vs mine.  I haven't bothered buying candy for the past few years because I haven't gotten any trick or treaters.  Before that, I would only get a handful.  We had a party at work though, and it's always fun to see the costumes people wear.  

As far as reading, I haven't been doing nearly as much as I used to.  One thing I like about the anthologies is reading new authors.  I don't really have a favorite genre; if it's well-written then I will probably like it.

Yeah, I'm the one who introduced him to "In Otter News".  He called me the wrong animal, so I called him the wrong animal ;)

I had 65 trick or treaters with about 2/3 under age 8.  The rest varied from age 9 to 15.  The best costumes were a group of siblings 9, 7, & 5 dressed as Minions.

Before I've become a member at GA, I was only reading (obviously). Now, I like to participate in conversation, sometimes it is about topic, can be off topic but it's really fun! Binge reading is better regarding reading itself because it gives more compact and overall picture of the story, but series following is immense joy and fun because it adds tension, anticipation and, as I have already said, great communication with community.

Yes, although, it can be challenging to read when there is more anthology stories published daily (together with regular series I follow)!

Both. There are authors I never miss, but new ones can be positive surprise. For example, @empath is fantastic new author. I enjoy his 'legal drama' story very much.

No, but I have phases when I like to read something more as love/romance, sci-fi, adventure, shifter stories etc. I've discovered some interesting stories, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed some genres...

Is there something you would like to see more of in stories that would get you reading more?

Not in particularly but it would be nice if moderators or somebody who is longer here at GA make promotion of old stories from archive so we could discover some hidden treasure. I’d like to learn something about authors who are not active anymore but have made a great impact at the time.

Luckily, with new technologies, time is going back automatically, we don't have to do it manually... But this 'time going back' reminds me of story I've read recently. It's 'Goon' by @dkstories. Great time travel story!

If you haven't read yet, I strongly recommend any story from @JJ Quinn, 'Halos & Heroes' in particular. I think it's exactly what you are looking for! 😉

Halloween!

Not particularly popular in my country, I would say it's more 'American thing'. Only thing I don't like about it is when I see little children dressed as corpses with big knife going out of their head! It's bizarre, I would never like to see my child in costume like that!
