Anti-traditional here. Grandma? Good, but nothing can beat ‘Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey’ for being so far from traditional.

Lately, my choices lean more toward a mix of classical, hard rock/heavy metal, and Christmas. If you’ve never heard Trans-Siberian-Orchestra, you’re missing a real treat. I’ll be watching them in concert for the fifth or sixth time next week.

Even folks not familiar with them may remember seeing this:

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Carol of the Bells is one of my favorites (if I could watch it live every year I would), along with The Waitresses's Christmas Wrapping, Wham!'s Last Christmas, Bruce Springsteen's version of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (so sorry Jackson5, your version is entertaining, too, just not my personal favorite), Vanessa William's version of Sleigh Ride (A Diva's Christmas Carol is one of my favorite holiday movies), and I heard All I Want for Christmas from the moment it was first released until now...it has me about as jaded as your classical ones (but other Mariah Carey songs are just fine).

One of my favourite songs at Christmas 🎄 

 The most relaxing Xmas I have ever had was in Israel during my PhD time. They do not celebrate it, so there was no Xmas song terror. Wonderful!

It’s not a whole lot different, but my favorite version of ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ is Olivia Olson‘s from ‘Love Actually.’

I like the more uptempo, faster beat Christmas songs. White Christmas makes me want to scream "speed it up!" 

I think my favorite song is Band Aid's Do They Know Its Christmas.

We took my son and one of his friends to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra when he was in high school.  It was a great show. 

True story.....

When I was seven I got my two front teeth for Christmas.  Much to my surprise their was a HUGE  box in the living room with my name on it.  I was sooo excited! But Dad made me open my other gifts first,  which was fine.. whatever.  

I finally get to open this massive box which was probably three feet high.  I shred that wrapping paper with absolute glee and pry the top open to discover......

.........another box. I'm not kidding when I say I had to open at least fifteen boxes all nestled inside one another. I was tired by the time I got to a small ring-sized one. Lo and behold! Santa brought me two front teeth. I'm talking actual dental fabricated front choppers, not fake novelty teeth.

Dad laughed his @$$ off. Mom just shook her head. She was just as surprised as me.  I'm not sure how long it took Santa to wrap everything but I found out years later that Dad had my uncles, who were dentists,  have the teeth made.  

It's my most memorable Christmas gift ... beating out my Barbie townhouse and water skis.

U2 has been my favorite band since they hit the US with their War album. 

I've seen them 6 or 7 times in concert.  It's always a great show.

That was my first concert.  I didn't get tickets when they first dropped... they sold out in about 30 minutes. I got them thru a scalper.. paid $60... a lot back than... but so worth it!
