Weekly Wrap Up (May 31 - Jun. 6)

I want to get into the question of the week right away

I loved the Weekly Prompts this week from Aditus! So much so that I'm going to borrow his question ;) Do you listen to music, and if you do, what do you prefer? Radio, streaming, playlists, one person said satellite TV/ Maybe someone out there has an 8-track or cassette player that they haven't retired. If you have an 8 track, I honestly don't believe there is a 8 track tape that has survived this long :gikkle: For you younger folks, look it up.

I would say that most my time is flipping around on radio stations of all different musical styles. I did mention that country music only is listened to during Stampede :cowboy: and then it is banished from my airwaves the other 355 days of the year :gikkle:  It is interesting that the 2 people I talk in Teams the most are both country fans and we all are slagging each others musical choice. I'm currently not talking to either of them as they keep sending country song videos and those nasty algorithms are working in the background that when I pushed the random Apple Music channel it played me country songs

Now if you are a single whole hearted one style of radio, I would like to know the reason why. Are you a TV news host so you are listening to 24 hour news radio all the time 😮

Now let's get onto the week in review. Shall we?

Since I stole (such an ugly word 0:) ) borrowed Aditus' Prompt question, let's look at the GA News Blogs in reverse this week.

Dara or Shakira, your choice :P

On Thursday, Valkyrie did a check in on how you are coming along on in the Secret Author Contest and the Yearly Anthology. Since the Secret Author Contest and revealing how you are doing would reveal that you are an author, feel free to PM me on how you are doing if you want :gikkle:. Don't read any further below where @Cia and @Valkyrie will be telling you to ignore this part 0:)

Tuesday, was Myr's day to shine and he put his spotlight on a different genre this week:

Cia started the week a whole 6 days ago, with a brand new CSR for the month of June. Check out the who and the what it is:

Since I'm ass backwards, why not do the same thing for the Words of the Day:

sinister, spectral, sepulchral, macabre, puzzle, shadowy, omen

Well one really got me stumped :( If I was in a spelling bee, me asking them repeat it or give me the use in a sentence, I'd still fail out 😢

If I'm in the car, I listened to the local Georgia University station, and they're now aligned with PBS and NPR.  That means if I do out in the car in the moring, I'll probably be listening to classical music.  However, if I go out on Sunday morning, they'll usually have a guest their chatting with, so we may hear anything from pop, rock 'n roll, country, or jazz.  If I'm listening at home, it depends on what I'm doing and how I'm feeling, so I may pull up YouTube videos of classical, rock 'n roll, Big Band music, or old country artists, because the last two take me back to my childhood, since they were played on the record player.   🥰

I used to have an 8-track player, but my car was busted into and it was stolen after I'd had it for a year, and the crooks took all of the 8-track tapes that I had too.  😞

I can remember the days when AM/FM radio wasn't enough and the effort to get the best cassette player, which morphed into CDs, and of course, you just had to replace the radio that came with the car...As technology progressed, it was a status symbol to have the latest and greatest...I can still remember when reel-to-reel was the hottest thing to have in the house. And don't get me started on all the various speakers you had to have!

I'm the sort who loves all kinds of music, country, rock, southern rock, bluegrass, and some of the early gospel folk songs, along with some classical. Currently, I am exploring my Sirius subscription that came with the new truck. I've restored a pre-WW2 car, I call it my fifteen-year fundsarelow project. I can play on my cell, Glen Miller and his big band music...what a treat!

Well, here in the center of the universe, Central Massachusetts, a little Marshall Tucker is playing while I make breakfast!

Yee haa...scramble those eggs and don't burn the toast!!!

Do you know if that was a recorder or a flute that was playing in the middle of that song?

Anyone who hates John Denver is a monster   And lying :P

I listen to the radio in the car sometimes, but mostly listen to CDs at home or iTunes on my phone.  I mainly listen to classic rock, German punk bands, and folk music.

My CD collection has Classical (less than other genres), Jazz, Rock and Heavy Metal. I'm not a big fan of Folk music although I'll listen to something once in a while.

I've found my taste in music has changed over time. It's now less about rip-roaring, head-banging music. I mostly listen to music on the Tidal Audio streaming service even when I already own the CD; I can find something for every mood; I can get access to better than CD quality. And, now that I've bought a pair of noise-canceling, wireless headphones from Bowers & Wilkens (30 hours on a full charge) I can take my streaming music everywhere with me without plugging in.

I don't listen to music in the car. I find it a distraction from paying attention to the road and other Massachusetts drivers (absolutely unpredictable behavior), but I've also learned that those drivers from New Hampshire and Rhode Island are only marginally better behaved on the road.
