I prefer the vampires! Especially Edward. He is sooo protective and perfect and doesn't anyone else get that!? The reason people love it so much is that we all want someone to feel that way about us. Someone who will give up their soul to have your love.

Ok, so maybe I am little too much of a romantic-- sue me. tongue.gif

Oh and GO TEAM EDWARD!!!!!!

Here's an excellent story from the current ADVOCATE

It touches all the bases - from the hunks running around shirtless to the author's Mormon background and that church's feelings toward gay rights. Here's hightlight from the article:

As we all flock to the theaters and fawn over the beautiful faces and flawless bodies, maybe we should take a step back and notice how surprisingly unevolved it appears. Its 2009, and this is a major piece of pop culture, but the resolutely heterosexual film could have happened in 1955, starring James Dean and Sal Mineo. Or in 1980, starring Kristy McNichol and Matt Dillon.

It makes you wonder: the vague state of gay life in the mainstream entertainment market is still a big annoying c**k-tease and its uncomfortably reflective of our fangless mundane reality: a world where we cant get married, adopt children easily, or even make out in public. And in places like Rhode Island, we cant even die equally.

Will an openly gay vampire ever come to Forks? When will we be allowed to get married? It all seems like themes in a shelved screenplay at this point.

I did enjoy all the eye candy in the film and i am a big fan of Taylor, but that is mostly because i already loved Jacob from the books and that was before the films were even thought about, I think taylor is great as Jacob and its just harmless fun to be able to enjoy what you see on screen.

I haven't read the books. So that's probably against me in terms of enjoying the film, or so I've been told by a friend :).

I saw it tonight. and felt it was like slow torture.

All that damn music. and the long silences, and heavy breathing, and miserable faces. and nothing happening. hardly any talking either. and that damn music most of all. It's like they wanted to have tension for the whole damn film. based on the same thing I mentioned above. there was nothing there to sustain it. so the music just created tension in me.

so nope. didn't like the film. Good concept. sort of. could be good. but to me they butchered it.

The whole second book is about tension and the brooding people do after someone important to us leaves... so yeah, it was meant to be slow and miserable for Bella, I guess the director wanted the audience to feel that too.. I've not watched the movie though.. lol, but I want to..

Blast it all guys, Critics are so popular in here not impressed with a few of you.

I'll Agree books are better then the movie. Which goes for any book movie adaptation. But New moon sticks so closely to the bood, Down to a few lines even, that i think it will get it's well deserved number 1 spot at best book adaptation movie yet, Through the plot.

Character could have been slightly different. I don't like Rob, and i don't think Rosile fits her profile (the most stunningly beatutiful women in the world, they downplaied that to much). Only two characters i actualy think fit, is Jacob as Taylor Lautner (plus he's hot, and i claim him for ever in eternity) and Alice, she fits the personality perfectly

But anyway i own the books of tons of authors with different religious beliefs, and i don't care. To me each can have there own beliefs as long as they fall under a basic guideline for living, all i know is no religion is perfect in it's essence.

New moon i loved, it was a good watch, i'll probably bye the movie one to watch taylor lautner half naked when i watch it, although i'm a big fan of the series i'm dissapointed that the LAST book is still being debated on whether it will even be made into a movie.

Spoiler to the last book Breaking Dawn:

Frankly i think there isn't enough of a story in the last book as the voltori back down and there is no massive battle.

Felix wasn't even supposed to fight edward at all, but did nontheless to make it an action flickish. I will rate the movie an 8/10.

Oh and go Team hottie (Jacob Black)

The movie was so much better than the first. Imagine Twilight only 20,000 times better. The movie also swayed me to the Jacob side. >.> Damn you shirtless Jacob!

Maybe. You're probably right. I just didn't have patience for it :).

And really, why did he become so important so fast?

note: i have watched the first fim but a little while ago. and had a similar-ish reaction I think.

Hmm, I really don't have any right to be in here, having never read the books or watched the movies; but I couldn't resist popping in lol.

From little I've heard of either book or movie has at best been mixed between the greatest thing ever made or drivel that should only be used for fire kindling, there doesn't seem too be much middle ground lol.

Likely as not I'll end watching the movies and reading books, just to see what all the fuss is about. I don't think I'll enjoy it too much though. From what I've seen so far its more Vamp Oriented(I could be wrong), and I've always liked Werewolves better lol.

You should skip Twilight and watch New Moon... there is an awesome scene in the trailer where Jacob morphs into his wolf form... the best werewolf morphing I have ever seen in a film.... and of course Jacob is cute in both forms :)

Well, I felt I should finally throw my input in, seeing as I rarely take the time to even check threads even more(too much clicking on laptop, I HATE THIS LAPTOP)

I liked the books. I might be biased though, it was the first love story I had ever read(NOT JOKING)! And when you think about how shortly ago Breaking Dawn came out, that's really sad that I'd never read one before. It's also the reason I started looking for gay love stories, the reason that I found Nifty, where I found Perks of Loving You, where in turn I found Gay Authors. So ya, like I said, biased opinion.

To think the writing is crap is, well, stupid. The woman who wrote it comes from here(Valley of he sun ftw) and yes, she is a latter day saint, and yes, she did attend to a mormon school. But set that aside and realize this, yes BYU is a mormon university, but it is also one of the best universities in the country, Mormon or not doesn't matter, so she has to be of at least higher level intelligence. Plus she majored in English. Yes, she is definitely no Shakespeare(I personally hate shakespeare) but she is NOT a bad writer, just writing a story not all people like. Not that these things necessarily makes her a better writer than anyone else, but she has to be at least much better than whatever idiot wrote harry potter to have attended BYU.

Most of the hate I see from twilight is based on two honestly stupid reasons. A.) It 'ruins' vampire stories, B.) every teenage girl in America loves it. Those are stupid reasons to hate a story, in my opinion at least. Legends and stories evolve, the vampires that are cold heartless and burst into flames are not the original, if they hadn't evolved to that the only vampire stories would involve Vlad the Impaler and his many-a human heads on fences. This is simply another version of the legend, it is not ruining it, it's evolving. While still on that point, sparkling vampires IS more realistic than bursting into flames. Vampires are very pale and have skin harder than the hardest rocks on earth, correct? Well let's all take a trip back to high school science and ask ourselves two questions, a.) what's the hardest rock on Earth?, and b.) What are it's qualities? The answer is diamond, and it's sparkles. That's right I just pulled chemistry and physics on your asses. Enjoy :P and last I checked, diamonds do not burst into flames when in sunlight. This is her adaptation, don't criticize it just 'cause it's different then yours. And also not liking a book because everyone else likes it is just plain stupid, it doesn't make you a follower just because you read something everyone else reads, what makes you a follower is liking or hating it solely on that.

Like I said, my opinion is biased. Apologizing in advance for the over dramatic statement. I was at a bad time in my life, I just lost a friend and almost lost my brother, already hated my life and myself, and had already tried to kill myself once. Twilight helped me, I know it sounds retarded, but it did. And then I found Nifty, like I already said, and the stories(the ones of love, not sex sex sex) made me feel a lot better(Reading == great pick-me-up. And yes I do in fact know I'm pathetic). So if I hadn't read twilight, i'd probably be dead, so you understand why my opinion is quite biased.

Oh and I agree, the movies suck. Silent movies had more dialogue than Twilight. New Moon was slightly better but still pretty much like dog-shit. I found myself liking Jacob more than Edward in the movies, whereas in the books I was an Edward fanatic. They either picked a crappy actor or they're trying to portray him in a different way then I did in my head.

Oh and Jacob and Edward fans: ALICE ALL THE WAY!

I am not going to watch it.

New moon seems to be just an excuse to put a lot of skin onscreen. While I appreciate male skin.. I do not need a £5 ticket to go watch softcore pornography.

I've had similar experiences with other things. They just manage to come at the right time :), and then you never forget them. But glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the silent part about it.

I've been told that a few times Nephylim but I can't do that lol, I hate to come into something and not know the beginning of it, I'd have to watch Twilight for the history.

It's a glorious world where we can all be so different and still get along :)

Yes, i think its great lol.

Yes! It is an awesome morph... I have to admit, what bothers me about the whole saga is the lack of substance the whole thing has. If you go to wikipedia, they can sum up each book/movie in a very small paragraph that pretty much tells you everything you need to know. I also agree that people do overuse the "H" word but I'm guilty of it too. It's a fair assumption that you should be critical towards vampire movies you see inadequate. The author openly admits that she completely ignored the previous 'vampire rules' and didn't research it at all. As a vampire enthusiast and writer, critiquing related media from the vampire genre is not only acceptable but expected.

Lets be honest, the movie wasn't too bad but compared to pieces of writing relating to vampires, it doesn't particularly stand out. There's also the fact that the 'twilight generation' has spawned a whole bunch of movies and series relating to vampires that aren't even all that good.

Just my opinion of course :)

Some could consider that arrogant. I mean how can you presume to write a Vampire themed book and just toss out DECADES worth of history and lore. I mean it doesn't really make any difference to me, I don't do Vamps, but still.
