Songs that make you cry II

As an older guy into grand opera, this brings me to cry. Lascia ch'io pianga from Handel's opera "Rinaldo", in this case from a movie of the life of the singer Farinelli. Farinelli was one of the worlds greatest castrato sopranos, deliberately castrated at age 10 to preserve his voice. Sung in Italian against the castration scene, it reflects the sadness of the whole thing and yet also reflects the greatness he rose to as one of the great gay men in history.

Translation:

Let me weep Let me weep over my cruel fate,

And that I long for freedom!

And that I long, and that I long for freedom!

Let me weep over my cruel fate,

And that I long for freedom!

Let me weep over my cruel fate,

And that I long for freedom!

And that I long, and that I long for freedom!

Let me weep over my cruel fate,

And that I long for freedom!

I guess it makes me cry because, in the tv show, 15/Love they use that song to make a clip in memoriam of 2 of their actors that died being driven on set.

I'm going to ride this plane out of your life again.
I wish that I could stay but you argue.
More than this I wish you could've seen my face
In backseat staring out the window.

I'll do anything for you,
Kill anyone for you.

So leave yourself intact
'Cause I will be coming back.
In a phrase to cut these lips,
I love you.

The morning will come
In the press of every kiss
With your head upon my chest
Where I will annoy you
With every waking breath
Until you decide to wake up.

I've earned through hope and faith
The curves around your face
That I'm the one you'll hold forever.
If morning never comes for either one of us,
Then this I pray to you wherever.

I'll do anything for you.
This story is for you.
('Cause I'd do anything you want me to... for you.)
I'll do anything for you,
Kill anyone for you.

So leave yourself intact
'Cause I won't be coming back.
In a phrase to cut these lips,
I loved you.

The morning will come
In the press of every kiss
With your head upon my chest
Where I will annoy you
With every waking breath
Until you decide to wake up.

The morning will come
In the press of every kiss
With your head upon my chest
Where I will annoy you
With every waking breath
'Til you decide to wake up.

I lock the door
Turn on the water
Bury that sound
So no one hears anything anymore
Mirrors lie to me, tell me you can see
Maybe you won't be able to recognize me now
I know you can feel all the things you steal
And you're taking, you're taking it

Feeling so easy
Make me skin and bones
I'm always on my knees for you
You break like it's even
When you're leaving it
Thin, where the hell have you been?

Well sometimes it burns
Baby I'll wash it out
It all looks so big
Never mind, I don't feel anything

It only hurt a bit
I still feel like shit
And I think you won't be able to recognize me now
It's easier to quit
It's harder to admit and
You're pushing me, you're f**king pushing me!

Feeling so easy
Make me skin and bones
I'm always on my knees for you
You break like it's even
When you're leaving it
Thin, where have you been?

'cause you always win
And you... yeah!

Laughin' like it works
Bleeding like it don't hurt
Knock you off your feet
Even if you need me
Tear you apart and I hate how I need you

Feeling too easy, make me skin and bones
I'm always on my knees for you
Break like it's even
When you're leaving

It's too f**king easy, make me skin and bones
I'm always on my knees for you
Break like it's even
When you're leaving it
Thin, where have you been?

'cause you always win, and you always win, you always win
I will burn all this [x9]

Halleluijah By Leonard Cohen ( although i prefer Rufus Wainwright's versin :) )

I heard there was a secret chord

That David played and it pleased the Lord

But you don't really care for music, do you?

It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift, the baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelu----jah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof, you saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you

She tied you to a kitchen chair, she broke your throne, she cut your hair, and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelu----jah

Maybe I have been here before, I know this room; I have walked this floor, I used to live alone before I knew you

I've seen your flag on the marble arch, love is not a victory march, it's a cold and its a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelu----jah

There was a time you let me know whats really going on below, but now you never show it to me, do you? (and)

Remember when I moved in you; the holy dark was moving too, and every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelu----jah

Maybe there's a God above, and all I ever learned from love was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you

And its not a cry you can hear at night, its not somebody who's seen the light, its a cold and its a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelu----jah
