Mark Arbour Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I'm kind of curious where else you all go to read fiction of this genre. There are a few sites I'm pretty familiar with, especially Nifty, Awesomedude, and CRVBOY, but there are always others, always new ones. So if you have a second, post a response and tell me where else you go and what you like or don't like about the sites.
Marzipan Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I started with Literotica's gay love. I'm sure you are familar with that site... It has some really good stories there, some not so good. Some are simply disturbing. Go straight to top lists. http://www.literotic...top/Gay-Male-6/ Lit has a decent ranking system, so you'll find the popular ones easily. My personal favourites there are Pogda's, Zolia Lily's and Robcup32's stories, to name a few.
Ivy Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I read just about everything, but love historical military stuff. I was in a chat room on a mainstream authors site and someone rec'd a story by Marquesatte called Special Forces, which is a really long, but extremely good (great) story. It's a free read and took me about 6 months to finish. It's really about 4 books in length. http://www.marquesate.org/special-forces.html Its really more recent history than historical as it ends up in modern times as Great Britain passes the right for gay/lesbian couples to marry in civil ceremonies. It was the first gay male story I ever read, and it's worth it for anyone who wants to make a committment. It's rough, brutal, tender, and heartbreaking at times. I laughed and cried. The author rec'd your Bridgemont series to me in her chat room, but I didn't find my way here till I finished Special Forces. Her site is really well done, and honestly I didn't figure out the author was a woman till I started reading her blog. Other than the sites you mentioned above, I really only go to specific author sites that are rec'd by friends. Some publish free stories on line as well as their print stories. I prefer GA to the other main ones, ironically enough, because of the organization here. (Current chaos notwithstanding, LOL) I also guiltily admit to cruising LiveJournal from time to time for fanfiction. There are some really good and some really badly written stories there.
KYE Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) I started out finding stories on Nifty.org. I've found some good stories there but the biggest problem is that so many stories there never seem to get completed after the author starts them. One of my favorite stories on nifty is Tim and Hank by Robcub32: http://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/highschool/tim-and-hank/ After communicating with him he lead me to the Literotica site where the rest of his work is located: http://www.literotic...age=submissions I also found the cryboy site and there my favorite series of stories is (a 3 book series) by Draginacht. I find his series to have a family, business, friendship, military theme I could compare to your writings. But at the same time different. http://crvboy.org/authors.html I have also found some good stories from the Tickie stories site: http://tickiestories.us/Main.htm Edited January 21, 2011 by KYE
Rilbur Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I started with Nifty for... ah.. 'special' reading... then found my way to Cracker's Den as a result of a story being cross-posted there. From Cracker's Den I found the entire Fort Family series of sites, which actually ended up being my original 'home' for my writing when I got hosted at Castle Roland.
DragonFire Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I’m the same as most guys, Nifty was the first site I ever logged onto. http://www.tickiestories.us/Main.htm is another site I view regularly.
MikeL Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Screeve.org has some very good stories, most of them by British authors. It also contains some of what you might consider pornography, but you can read the stories without looking at the pictures.
Hermetically Sealed Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Nifty was my first and so far the only one I've posted on. But like others I've haunted Tickiestories, Crvboy.org and in the past The Fort. But also www.iomfats.org. Otherwise, I mainly visit a lot of yahoo groups. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/adultwritingworkshop/ has the very well done Centurion Cycle series. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Chakars_Tales/ 1

Well, you have me pegged pretty good - GA and the 3 sites mentioned in your post and that's it.
JamesSavik Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Some good sites: Awesomedude Deweywriter < Home of the Brian & Pete saga CRY Boy

In addition to the sites that Mark lists, I read stories at Codey's World and The Authors Haunt (Disclaimer: I also post my stories on those two sites); I also read Driver's stories on his site, and Ronyx' stories on The Mustard Jar. Mark Arbour Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Thanks for all the feedback! It's really interesting!
Matthew k Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Thanks for all the feedback! It's really interesting! I started at Nifty as most people probably did, then I found the Fort, but they seemed a weird, closed bunch to me, then Just Us Boys, AwesomeDude, It's Only Me From Across The Sea.
