Let us not forget, a colorful spider might look beautiful, but those colors could mean 'danger, stay away' to a predator of the spider.

Is it my imagination, or does the Brazilin Jewel have 10 legs instead of 8?

Tarantulas have eight walking legs and two pedipalps that are used for touching and moving prey.

I was thinking more along the lines of an Orangutan Spider.

Either  of our ideas would make Bill W happy. Yours, a continent or two away from Australia. Mine, a galaxy (or more)🖖.

Is the red on the legs where something scraped off the covering?  That looks raw.

Don't know, looks like a tough little bugger! War paint, maybe?

You posted this in the make us laugh thread. It sums up how I feel about spiders perfectly.

Me too also. All indoor spiders must die. Immediately. By someone else's hand. If I have to fight a spider over it, the spider wins, every time.

Are these photos legit, or were they digitally manipulated to make it appear as if the spider was first frowning and then smiling?

I think you have answered your own question.

May be an image of text that says 'My wife told me to take the spider out instead of killing him. Went out. Had a few drinks. Nice guy. He's a web designer.'

SORRY!! - I spent several hours today trying to to put a photo of my Trans Am into my album, it was 2.2 Megs, 2 Megs is the maximum allowed. I tried so many different things that now I can't even copy a joke or picture to this post, from anywhere. The same thing happened with my 'Did You Know' and now my 'Spiders'  So, bare with me until I figure it out. I am sure it is a simple solution, I'll try my best. I keep getting, Insert existing attachment or Insert image from URL.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance,

:cowboy:

It must have taken care of all of the bugs in your computer and was looking for anything to eat.

If I remember correctly, outdoor spiders don't do well inside the house and inside spiders don't do well outside due to the different types of feet they have.  If that's the case, then it seems as if this remedy is of little use, except to the companies that make the products you'd use in that concoction.

Well it it seems that at least, you and I will be saving ourselves some money. As will Aramis( I mean Mancunian ), after reading this. Maybe even D'Artagnan( oops, I mean TalonRider ) if he stops by.

I was looking at the information to the right of this column and saw that you've posted 311 times and I've posted 286.  The next nearest guy is  Zombie with 82 posts.  At least we're getting top billing.  :worship:

I don't know if it's a reflection or not, but each eye seems to have the same dark shape in it.  I wonder what that is or what it's caused by.

In his explanation, he said he put her on a green pillow case and used a spot light. That this was a crop of her on the green pillow case, the full picture was saved by him, but I could not find it to show you. I think the green and checkered pattern were a reflection of it.:cowboy:

Speaking of spiders, I've known since I moved to Georgia that there are Brown Recluse spiders here, but yesterday my neighbor informed me that there was a Black Widow spider and her egg sac just outside my door.  He borrowed my Raid to spray it and the egg sac, and then he used a stick to dispose of it, but now I'm constantly looking around the house for more Black Widow spiders, along with any Brown Recluse spiders that might happen to be inside as well.

I guess the old phrase, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is true, although I find the last photo the most interesting.  Is there any indication about the date when the last photo was taken?  I find it interesting that the scientists in the UK would have selected the form of a spider out of the many that might have been available for them to use.  If an alien species was to land on the moon later, they might have felt that the robot was a model of the indigenous life form on the moon.

I am still looking for more info on this(these) spider robot(s).

This is all I have so far.

I'm amazed that governments are suddenly interested in returning or going to the moon.  It has been 50 years since the last US mission there and it is said the Chinese have run missions on the dark side of the moon, and the US also seems to be interested in returning to the moon.  Have these governments, including the UK, discovered or suspect something more about the moon that wasn't know previously?

Damn, I've seen a spider that looks like this before, and it was dropping down from the ceiling toward me.  However, it wasn't casting a line like this spider is doing and merely descending on one.  I doubt it was the same type of spider, but now I'll never know.

You have GA as your location??

Distribution:

Bolas spiders are found in America, Africa including Madagascar, and Australasia northwards into Asia. They do not occur in temperate Eurasia. About half of the known Mastophora species occur in South America. The genus is distributed from southern Chile to the northern US (to 45° north latitude in Minnesota). M. archeri, M. bisaccata, M. hutchinsoni and M. phrynosoma occur widely in the US east of the Great Plains. M. cornigera occurs from Alabama to California, as well as in northern Mexico.

Yikes, then maybe it was one of those spiders, but this happened before I move to GA and lived much farther north.  I'm glad I didn't know it then or I might have freaked out.
