A bit of good news regarding one of the individuals on my caseload.  I am a speech therapist who works with adults with developmental disabilities.  I assessed an individual about a year ago and put him on program.  He's fairly quiet, but likes to play games and use the iPad during sessions.  He spent the majority of his time in dayhab sleeping, and rarely participated in activities.  Well, a few months ago someone gave him a stuffed animal.  Now he spends his time dancing with the animals (he now has two), or at the table doing activities.  Or should I say the animal does the activities with his help... ;)  He is also much more verbal.  If I ask him how he's doing, I get a mumbled 'good', but if I ask the animal how he's doing, I get 'good, how are you?'.  A lot of people have commented on his transformation.  I wish it were that simple to make everyone so happy.  :)

Proof that it's possible to overcome extreme adversity.  I had to watch a video about Willowbrook during my orientation for my current job.  I cried during the whole thing.  Seeing how one of its former residents has flourished is very heartening.

Not sure if this is too touchy of a subject, but it's good news:

Men may finally understand women better:

It's kind of funny, kind of thought provoking, and slightly weird. I didn't know that Male birth control had advanced to that level, nor did I know we have similar side effects. It's good news for all the women, who suffer through it that men are susceptible to the same.

Firstly, I love this thread! It's the most smile-worthy read I've had for a couple of weeks and everyone's contribution took a very long time to read, but it was worth it!

Here's mine... no matter what else is happening, having a very large number of elecric cars coming out (and affordable) is going to reduce our carbon imprint a lot.
