Don't think I have any yoghurt right now... And these things have the most ridiculous rules. Don't eat for two hours before taking them, and one hour after. Don't lie down for an hour after taking them. Kind of bizarre...

Good morning all,  Happy Boxing Day.  Was supposed to go fox hunting today but my customer couldn't get the day off adjacent to the holiday.  Boxing day hunt is full of pomp and tradition, so I am not going to miss hanging in the hunt house today!

Point is Orthodox holidays are about a week to two later than "normal" ones.  I always thought it cool they got TWO Christmases!  And to top it off, my friend that was Greek Orthodox also celebrated the day the wise men showed up too! Personally I think it was an "any excuse to extend the holiday season" sort of thing!

Yogurt Thorn! Lots of live culture yogurt!  Replaces the good bacteria in your gut that the antibiotics kill off. That's the problem with antibiotics - kill off ALL the bugs, even the ones you want!

Because of that, her vocal cords atrophied and she has issues talking, swallowing, and food/liquid will get in her lungs when she's drinking. The procedure tomorrow they are sending a camera down her throat to look at her lungs, as they have come back with "funny" looking splotches that look like shattered glass. The doc has said it could be Wet Lung, or something worse. She's in her 60's and has been a smoker since she was 15. 

 

Prayers, Positive Thoughts, Good Mojo, what-have-you, is greatly welcomed.

Those are odd instructions.  Even when I had such an wicked infection in my leg I ended up doing IV antibiotics from the myacin class ( strongest available) there were no dietary restrictions, in fact most said take WITH food.

Morning, DiC! Hope you all enjoyed Christmas Day, and that today is peaceful and pleasant. I decided to stay home from lunch at Mum's. I don't feel very well. I'm on some way strong antibiotics right now, and it's wreaking havoc on, well, everything. So I'm enjoying the peace and quiet before my flatmate and her puppy get home this evening and the house inevitably gets noisy again...

Hope you're well again soon. tim's correct live culture yogurt can help. It helps to maintain the good bacteria in your gut. Kefir is also helpful.

True, but the Russian and Greek Orthodox churches go by a different calendar, so both dates are anywhere from a week to two different.  That adds up to two of each holiday, including New Years. I swear my friend slept through the last two weeks of January every year!

The Elizabethans followed the Julian calendar too. The Gregorian was considered too popish. They also gave gifts on New Years rather than at Christmas.

Happy Boxing Day or Second Christmas if you're PA Dutch. I'll be spending today on a train to Philadelphia. I have an early morning appt. tomorrow with my migraine specialist. I started therapy with the new med Amovig in early November and he wants to evaluate the results.

Yeah, I'm used to that as well, but not these. I have the least sexy infection ever (well, maybe not quite, but it's certainly in the top five), not even gonna tell you guys, but it's particularly shitty. The shops are all closed today. Might go out to find some yoghurt tomorrow.

The Julian calendar is 13 days behind the Gregorian one. Christmas Day is on the 7th of January.

Yes i think it was ... i like plain and here the chances are better if its plain you'll get the cultures you want ... some of the other stuff they call yogurt may not have them ... not sure why.  Plain is good, unless it's zero fat.  And if you want the cultures to live thru the acid in your stomach you need FAT.  So 2% or higher... there is no good reason to eat zero fat yogurt.  Plus it tastes like CRAP.    Plain yogurt with a spoonful of homemade granola.. that i like!   I must make granola .. Michael likes it.

 

There is so much chocolate in this house ... i dont want to think about it. We were given boxes of chocolate ... toblerones, turtles ... i am tired of sweets.  We were given a tray of nuts/toasted corn ... which is nice and good to eat. And the huge piece of summer sausage... i cannot get my hand around it. Made here to a 200 year old recipe. That will be nice to nibble on as well. Today i just want some simple food ... like a poached egg. I will make granola though ...

Is it possibly pasteurized to extend shelf life?

 

I freeze fruits in season, so I have things like. Blue berries etc around all winter. Plain yogurt, two drops of vanilla and a handful of pureed berries - yum!

You always say Phil Sir is interested and careful about listening to kids ... i think He would have done the same thing if He would have answered that phone.
