Has anyone ever had a side by side? I looked at the Whirlpool 33 inch, and it seemed small to me. 22 square feet compared to 25+ for the French door LG. Am I being stupid? I do have a separate freezer as well.

Mum has a side by side and likes it. I'm ambivalent, so I agree with your son. I'd save myself all the hassle.
