There are, but you won't see them in the streets of cities or logging operations anymore.  You will need to take a trip to the rural elephant preserves where you  can actually help take care of them with their keepers.

There is a young guy on YouTube, Ethan Lusby, currently living in Bangkok. He took a trip to one of the preserves.

I found the site, and must say the Ethan, the host is hot!  I watched one video and did a scan of most of his videos of Thailand.  Unfortunately, I didn't find the video with elephants.
