Well, the neighbors returned home today. I talked to the two boys when they were done unloading the luggage from the car. Their relative was, I gather, "a lot to deal with". The host mom apologized profusely to Sascha for leaving him, especially on his last week in America. He was surprisingly okay with the whole situation, and he said that he enjoyed spending time with Morgan, Max and I. :*)

The neighbors are planning a party on Friday to send Sascha off, before he leaves on Saturday. They'll invite a few of his friends from school, and some buddies from the rowing team. I've decided to contribute a carrot cake for the occasion, which Sascha said he was interested to try. I believe the rest of the menu will be BBQ, potato salad, coleslaw, etc.
