The most common languages spoken in the US.  :D

  1. English – 245 million (78.5%)
  2. Spanish – 41.3 million (13.2%)
  3. Chinese (including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and all other varieties) – 3.40 million (1.1%)
  4. Tagalog (including Filipino) – 1.72 million (0.5%)
  5. Vietnamese – 1.52 million (0.5%)
  6. Arabic – 1.39 million
  7. French – 1.18 million
  8. Korean – 1.07 million
  9. Russian – 1.04 million
  10. Portuguese – 937 thousand

I'd say Tagalog is a pretty fair trade considering just how much of the population speaks English is in the Philippines.  Let's just say I felt more comfortable getting around in the north there, then even my visits to Mexico as a kid.  Not a once did I ever even come across a language barrier.

I was actually pretty spoiled there. :D
