The first Sunday of August is for Sisters and Families. 

In case you didn't know, the United States Coast Guard is one of the six United States Armed Forces. While this maritime service is a branch of the military, they are also a multi-missioned service. During peacetime, it operates under the Department of Homeland Security. However, their responsibilities can be transferred to the US Navy by the President of the United States any time deemed necessary, or by Congress during war times. 

It's National Friendship Day, so I will supply the Chocolate Chip Cookies.

It's time to Work Like A Dog today. 

We'll celebrate Underwear Day with lots of Oysters your way. 

 

The English language is confusing. Take, for instance, two common idioms we use in our everyday lives: “It’s a dog’s life” and “Work like a dog.”

“It’s a dog’s life” refers to dogs being able to laze around and sleep all day. Most dogs are companions. As members of our family, their biggest worry is when the next vet visit is. On the other hand, “work like a dog,”  suggests just the opposite. It means working to your maximum ability for an extended length of time. How can these two phrases apply to our canine companions when they mean contradictory things?

August 6 celebrates National Social Engineering Day on the National Day Calendar. This National Day aims to raise awareness about social engineering threats and promote better cybersecurity practices. 

The first Tuesday of August is National Night Out Day.

Purple Heart Day on August 7 commemorates the creation of the oldest American military decoration for military merit. The Purple Heart honors the men and women who are of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
