I wasn't familiar with any of the terms for 'an easy course', though, so I just had to pick one.

uum interesting. Must have picked up the midwest from my neice and nephew that I raised as they came to me from Ohio(I know that is not really midwestern). Dixie from sailing south I guess. Oh my I am a Yankee. Pax, Steve

Interesting, I've never heard that. Sounds cute though lol. Similarly I don't call the person diagonal from me "Kitty corner" or "Catty corner", so I HAD to pick "Diagonal", I'd call them "Cat-a-corner"

Interesting, I never heard those terms for a easy class.

I've heard "crip course" so I picked that, but I don't call it any of those three either.

Connecticut must have rubbed off. Also, two quick questions/observations: Any one else notice that none of the scores (Unless I missed one somewhere in there) add up to a hundred? And did they forget about the west coast or are they just ignoring it?

Wow, never noticed they didn't add up before now. Wierd.

Also, considering they don't add up, I am going to have to go with forgot or just didn't notice for anything that is left out.

I have never heard those terms for an easy course, I have heard "bird course" or plain old "easy" before though. I use the term kitty corner for diagonal sidewalks, but for most everything else just diagonal.

I've only been to America once in my life, and that was for less than a month twelve years ago! So I don't understand how I can speak General American, let alone Yankee, Dixie or Upper Western. Don't even have a clue what those last ones are. And to be honest I just randomly picked some of the answers (hush)!

I guess I just speak my own kind of English... :2thumbs:

Who the hell calls a summer shower "The Devil is beating his wife"??

I had to choose sunshower because summer shower wasn't an option.

Kitty corner? Catty corner??? WTF??

If I ask where the drug store is, and they say anything involving a feline corner, they will make friends with a 12 guage...

An easy course is either and easy course or a bullshit course. Not crip, gut, or blow off... i said blow off because I'm sure a lot of people blow it off.

I seriously wanna meet the guy who looks at a summer shower and says "Ah, I see the Devil is beating his wife." If I said that, to ANYONE, they'd have me institutionalized.

My big kvetch is that there's a lot of New Yorker in my speech, which the poll doesn't get, but who am I to complain?.

But it's good to know that all my years in Maryland haven't spoiled my native Yankee-ness.

And for Vance ... 40% yankee is pretty darn 'hick,' so don't worry ... you're still the champion hick boy here at GA! ;):P
