I always rep stories I like. If I don't, I just leave it be. The only stories I'm currently reading right now are Social Skills and Second Shot. I try to leave a positive rep for each chapter I read, even though both authors are well over the threshold limit. Its my tiny way of saying 'thank you' for writing good stories. I also try to leave lots of reviews in the discussion forums for the respective authors because I have been told countless times how much authors appreciate feedback, comments, questions, etc on their stories. If I'm getting to read quality online fiction for free, leaving rep points and comments is the least I can do.

Your assessment isn't that far off. For most small townies, they were born, raised, and will die in that one small town. They probably haven't experienced much outside their little world and feel threatened by people different then them because of all likeliness, most everyone else around them are very similar. I grew up in a place like this (not really small town, more like small suburbs), but everyone was white, Christian, and for the most part, locals for life. More then 60% of my graduating class of 450 went to one of the state schools, and I guarantee most who stayed in-state or went out of state will remain or come back to live in my town. When you have such a large segment of the population having never seen bigger and more diverse things, it leads to a very close-minded and narrow view of social issues. Hence why I got the hell out of there and will never move back.

I seriously hope Boston plays better in Game 2. Going down 3-0 halfway through the first and letting in soft goals is not a recipe for success. We need Bergie and Savard back.

Going to college in a city, I get people asking me for money all the time. They see a white college kid and assume I have money to spare. Usually they give me a sob story that would fool some, but they are almost always bullshitting you. They will probably go right back and spend it on booze and/or drugs. I tell them I have no money and to get lost. Now, those who sit on the streets with a cup in their hand, or the bums who play instruments in the streets I will give money to. They seem more sincere about their need for money. Actually, now that I think about it, I've heard some talented bum bands who play in and around the T stations in Boston. I usually throw a dollar or two into their collection.

Don't ever listen to other people's bullshit about how long distance relationships don't work. If your willing to make them work, they do. I made mine work through 9 months, and it happily became a close-distance one.

I've pretty much stopped watching newer Family Guy episodes. I stick to the older ones on the rare occasion that I watch it. It has gotten very obnoxious lately and I can't take much of it anymore.

Actually I was interested in Colossus, and read a quick plot synopsis. I'm absolutely fascinated by the Cold War and Nuclear Scare (probably because I didn't have to live through it), so I'll be watching that one later today.

This topic sometimes comes up in chat, and it always get a variety of answers, with younger people generally choosing a lower age for 'no longer young' then the older people. So what do you think is the age/age group that you can no longer say 'I'm young'?

Nah, its not my age that is keeping me back, but other factors.

Well, I would strongly try to steer him toward the GI Joe or race car or other "gender appropriate" toys. But if he was persistent, then I'd let him have it. As much as I wouldn't like it, if thats what makes him happy and he isn't causing problems, then who am I to deny it to him.

I wanted to be a soldier all my life, from the time I was 5. I was fascinated by the stories my dad and other members of my family used to tell of when they served. Unfortunately that dream seems to slip away further and further with every day that passes. It used to bother me a lot, but I've come to terms with it.
