    Fathers and Sons

I'm thinking about both you and him, and sending strength your way.
  5. Really, Mike? That sounds like a fascinating story. There can't have been many like him.
  6. Merci ! Clearly, your character is doomed to fail!
  7. Best self-definition I have read in a long time. And you should be proud because, more than anyone I know, you made who you are.
  8. Another worthy effort from Google. Looking forward to see what practical measures this leads to.

    Hey y'all

Listen to Wayne Your fans will stay with you. Don't put so much pressure on yourself, we know that life comes first. And enjoy Florida
  10. Bumping this thread up: it had fallen to page 9 of the Lounge! Jian and I will definitely be there. I seem to have some work commitment in the South of France that week, but I'll figure it out. Give me a couple of weeks for work to calm down a bit and then I'll be looking at organising some nice activities.
  11. Well, I am thrilled to confirm that Jian will be at the GA meetup. He just received his visa and booked his flight today! *jumps up and down*
  12. Woohoo, sounds like a fun time with a lot of promises attached to it. I'll hope for the best for you.
  13. Thanks for the link, Myr, it was nice to have a snapshot of GA through the years.
  14. We don't have barber shops so I always try to find the best value for money salon. I might try to start cutting my own hair salon: a 6mm all round would be the easiest.
  15. I still have difficulties recognizing the different American accents. I love the variety that exists in Britain, though. What I love best in accents is when they seem really out of place: you expect an accent when you see a person and then some completely different accent comes out of their mouth. I was once on a jury panel for an English exam in France and this French girl comes in and gives the jury a pretty remarkable text explanation in English. However, her accent was puzzling. I looked up her name: she was of Spanish descent. Still, it didn't explain the accent. So after she was done I asked her where she had learnt English and where her accent came from. She replied that a year prior she hardly spoke any English, but she had just spent about 10 months working for a charity in India. That explained why I suddenly felt like I was back in North-West London. It was definitely a change from ze French accent zat I 'eard all day.

    Time Away, Time Back

Good to see you back, Eric.
  17. Wayne, I'm sorry to hear about these setbacks. I hope that your father recovers quickly. It's so disappointing when such events happen, but you shouldn't feel like you're letting anyone down. I am sure that everyone understand your predicament. Take care of yourself and think about your health.
  18. Joyeux anniversaire Bob I know I wished it already on your status, but there's nothing wrong in being a little redundant here. Hope you enjoyed it!

    Chapter 8

Thanks for providing a shift in the story with this development about the outcome of the Chiltern massacres. Thomas might feel up to carrying his duties in this new context. Definitely looking forward to the upcoming romance.

    Keeping Up

I agree with KC... you do so much stuff, you must be getting 30 hour-days at least. Looking forward to the news
  22. I met you and Jason at the London meetup and you two looked like you were having a lot of fun. It's easy to have an opinion with hindsight, but it did strike me at the time that there was something slightly unbalanced in your relationship, that one of you had more power than the other. But some relationships are like that, and I didn't know you enough to judge. As for the rest, I agree with Billy: take some time off the boyfriend business. It was a long relationship and you were —and still are— quite young. This relationship is bound to have some influence on you for some time. It's normal to feel lonely and dejected and depressed. Take the time to find yourself, to discover your true values again, and not what he wanted you to be, or what you thought he wanted you to be. Best of luck, John. You will find your path in life, through your studies, your family and your personal goals. And love will come along. You deserve it.
  23. Happy birthday!
  24. Sorry to hear that you have that much pain to fight against. And good luck with setting up the business, I know it takes a long time planning and starting.
