A few years ago, I was at my local small town convenience store where a raffle for a unopened book of twenty dollar tickets for ten bucks. I bought one and to my surprise I was a winner. I forget the exact number of tickets, and to my everlasting surprise I won just over a hundred bucks. lesson learned there a reason Lost Wages is so glitzy…the house always wins.

I have to disagree; 20 years ago, that behavior was just as unacceptable as it would have been even 40 years ago, and I am old enough to understand that, more importantly, so did my contemporaries and friends. To me, Brody crossed so many friendship lines as to ruin himself amongst his friends. That behavior was never acceptable. Among my friends and acquaintances, he would have been kicked to the curb so f'ing quickly, he might as well have left town. The sad part is that despite the protests of those in the group, that this was not what they wanted, promised not to do, Brody sallied forth, ignoring reason and responsibility, to assuage his own selfish whims... I graduated high school and college shortly after the dinosaurs lost the civil war, and even then, we all knew when in an uncomfortable social setting, that no meant just that...no....

I’ve always liked Brody, but tonight he crossed several boundaries, and I’ve lost all respect for him…What an Asshole….

You've truly hit your stride with this tale, Albert. This is as enjoyable as any other story on this site, I'm loving it!! So...The Baron has made Kalen his heir, and as such, his squires' duties and responsibilities will find their duties and responsibilities exponentially increase. A messenger will be sent shortly to the temple, informing one and all of his resignation from the duties he holds there; will this perchance lessen the enmity from the bishop and his toady? The great ledger shows that Thornmere's finances are in poor shape, and our trio will set off shortly to survey and better understand the finances and crop yields. It will be interesting to see if there are those who were taking advantage of the Baron. Next chapter please and thanks!!!

What a great chapter with the exception we find the story will conclude, way too early. There’s so much more to be discovered, that it may take several chapters!!

Loved the beginning chapter, as one who loves skiing can’t wait for the next chapter !
