While I agree with your assessment of techniques, there is definitely no limitation in the methods available to writers, I'm not sure where all your quotes are coming from. Is this from a blog or another forum? If you're going to dog a specific author, it would be nice to reference the source if it's not in the current discussion at hand.
I think you should write the story regardless.
I get what you're saying about the slurs. They are an easy thing to slide into because let's be honest, when arguing it's not unrealistic to use words that hurt as much as possible and calling a woman a bitch or whore is only trumped by the C-word.
Female antagonists that are jilted by men coming out is a trope that can easily be cliche. I would love to see more stories where that is not the motivation and see a more inventive origin of hostility.
The tiny box barely fit in my hand, but somehow weighed more than the bag hanging off my shoulder with all its contents. The bravado I felt this morning with Tommy slipped away as I thought about all the things I said and did to him while I was at work. Was I insane?
I made my intentions very clear pressed against his smaller body in the kitchen. There's no way he could misinterpret my feelings. I didn't want to be his best friend anymore; I wanted more than that. I was tired of watching him go
True, but I would think you could show that in they way the character responds to the people around him rather than using the phrase in a narrative. Unless it's the dialogue usage, but even so there has to be a more interesting method for the reveal to happen. It's kind of a generic sets of words. They make sense, but can be uninteresting.
You guys are so lucky because the americanized version of Splash sucks. It's full of D-list celebrities, none of which would be nice in a speedo. Even if they did have a bunch of hotties on the show, US TV wouldn't allow them in speedos anyways or they'd be too scared to wear them.
I've have, however, been finding lots of great pics of Dan Osborne since I found out about the show. He's quite the exhibitionist.
Better that I'm honest about it rather than be that creepy guy whose spouse gets a rude awakening when they least expect it. My hubby knows what a perv I am and loves me anyway.
I think Myr is saying the Promising Author rank is a promotion from Author that is a step before promotion to what is now Signature Authors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
So glad to hear you're recovering, KC. We've missed you and not just for this story. (Although we'll all be really happy when new chapters come out...) Hope your writing itch settles itself soon, it will make things start to be right with the world once again. So glad you're still here in 2014, you crazy muppet.
p.s. Nurses only frown on sex in hospital beds if they have to clean up after them.... ew...
I just want to see him drafted. With his talent, I'd hate to see him passed over because of coming out. It would be so nice that this wasn't an issue in the first place, but it has to happen at some point.
Good luck, Mr. Sam!!
Personally I like the forum cleanup. It's much easier to find things without being bogged down with inactive categories.
And the Hosted Authors continue to knock out a TON of content. Fantastic! Keep it coming!
