Fantastic chapter. It rang so true. Wish there were more Perrys in the world.- 110 comments

This reads more like a good start to a longer story. Why not risk continuing it? You may be surprised where it takes you.

Thank you for responding. Now I not only know what it means, I also have some reading to do this weekend. I have learned something new — what a great way to start the day!

Not being conversant in Latin or Afrikaans, and Google translate not being of any help, what is meant by Timshel, please? This was such a gentle, loving chapter.

Shades of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice lol. Great start.

What a tender, lovingly written chapter. You did use a phrase that I never have heard before nor would I ever have imagined and I love when that happens: “I shuddered, thinking how much stomach acid I’d secreted unnecessarily.” You are a craftsman!

So exquisitely tender!

Chapter 7 - That Dark Day After
starboardtack commented on Jeff Burton's story chapter in Chapter 7 - That Dark Day After
Unexpectedly, I cried through most of this. It brought back high school memories when a player from a rival high school was killed from a hit while playing football. I never knew him but after more than fifty years I still remember his name. Very effective chapter.- 28 comments

A tragic, powerful start. You have set yourself a challenge to keep it going. I am looking forward to seeing what you do with this.- 26 comments

I have largely given up reading stories from the various sites I follow. Just need a break. Tonight I happened to check in on GA for the one or two stories I still want to follow and I saw that you are posting again. You are one of a very small handful of authors I still want to follow and I was elated to see this new post. Your first chapter did not disappoint and I look forward to once again enter into the world that you create. Welcome back.

Bryce a Firenze, Parte Tre
starboardtack commented on Late to the party's story chapter in Bryce a Firenze, Parte Tre
If you take the story down, they win. Is that a good lesson for Bryce? -
As I was reading this chapter, the thought came to mind that this work goes beyond mere storytelling. There is a depth, a weight, a meatiness to your writing that sets it apart from much of what I read (and enjoy) on this and other sites. Please know that your efforts are much appreciated.

Needs a bit tighter editing in terms of spelling and grammar but the story is solid and a great start. Looking forward to see what you do with this. Keep posting!

I adopted my son from Ukraine when he was 5.5 y.o and I remember his first Halloween. He was very cautious at the first door, more willing at the second door, and once he figured out there was candy for the having, he was OFF LIKE A SHOT! Lol. And yes, I remember the things I would do just to see HIM smile. This chapter rings so very true. Thanks for awakening the memories.

Thanks for a wonderful journey. I especially like how you let your characters evolve but not be perfect. They were so very human. Take a well deserved break — for a day or two.

When Ashton typed out “I missed you,” my eyes filled with tears. That has never happened in years of reading Gay Authors stories. Well done, sir. Very very well done.

Chapter 37: Endearing Epilogue
starboardtack commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 37: Endearing Epilogue
I haven’t been able to let go of the previous chapter — the one that garnered such criticism, including mine. Something has been gnawing at me. I have trusted you through the delivery of all the previous excellent chapters and the thought came to me why not with regard to that chapter as well? What am I missing? This morning I realized that your storytelling is in keeping with the tradition of trickster gods who interfere, overturn, and make a mockery of human expectations and demands, for their own purposes or even whims. I realize now it was a masterful chapter entirely consistent with this type of narrative. Well done, sir.Very well done! -

Thank you for the joy of following this from beginning to end. -
Thanks for a creative, fun, and occasionally stressful journey. The love all your characters had for each other was incredibly touching and real. Nothing seemed forced or contrived. Great story -- many thanks/ Looking forward to what's next.

Chapter 36: Mischievous Mind
starboardtack commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 36: Mischievous Mind
You can either focus on the critical comments you are receiving on one chapter or the uniformly positive comments you received on 35 chapters. Up to you. -
I had tears in my eyes during the birth scene. Beautiful. It sent me back to the day I adopted my son -- different, I know but in some ways the same. A perfect chapter.
