  1. Thanks, I may now be hooked on Comifan's first liners, so other attempts may appear. Glad you enjoyed this one.

    Zugzwang

It was a good ending and I'm glad Paul was determined to pursue his chances with Sam. But I do feel it ended too soon, I wanted to see more of their happy time after sorting out the misunderstandings and declaring their mutual interest (love).

    Cumulonimbus

Mark may have done this at the spur of the moment and in the wrong way and at the wrong time. But in fact their talk did bring closure to the relationship and cleared the air between them, just like the day after a storm is often sunny. You can see the damage and start to get rid of the debris and repair things. Now Sam needs to talk to Paul and tell him what happened.

    Burnt Dreams

Ha, I'm glad I'm reading this after all four parts of the story have been written. Poor Paul. After being so patient for ages and finally getting up his hope for more, the romantic dinner surprise is spoiled by Mark appearing out of nowhere. I van understand why his twin sister in annoyed and worried, but I'm glad he did object when she crossed the line. I hope it wasn't Sam calling at the end, since I'm not sure she would be ready to listen to explanations and apologies, lol.

    Chapter 1

You scared me with this story. The horror of coming home to a half-empty house. The heavy drinking and ignoring everybody - and where are the friends and family who should turn up when they don't hear from him ? The ignoring of what has happened and immersing himself in work, trying to bury his grief. Finally facing his loss and having to come to terms with the fact that they were not right for each other. So sad, so scary. Even cookies and a handsome flirty guy with blue-green eyes at the end won't dispel the sadness you made me feel. But at least I can go on to the next story and hope it's happier.
  6. I guess I can understand the father here. After all, if you can't be trusted, what comes next? It wasn't as if it was an unreasonable demand or a new rule. The punishments, while harsh, probably hurt less than the realization that he had lost something precious: his dad's trust. If you learn that inconsiderate acts have consequences, you're more likely to think again next time. And his point about his son not trusting him either hit a nerve too. I bet he had spent time wondering where he'd gone wrong that his son wouldn't come out to him.
  7. Thanks Irri! You guys know me too well, stilted language is another of my weak spots. But it's good to be reminded. And I'm glad you liked it even so.
  8. Thanks, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And you put your finger right on my sore spot: the tendency to keep adding details. I'll try to be less verbose in future prompt stories.
  9. “I can’t believe you asked him that!“ My best friend Jasper looked annoyed when I laughed. “You know my policy: ask me a bigoted question, and I’ll do my best to insult you back.” The funny thing was I had the feeling the guy hadn’t meant to be offensive. And for other reasons I didn’t want to be harsh on him. But if he was too stupid to know that ‘fag’ was a bad word, he deserved what he got. Especially since he’d come up to me out of the blue and asked: “So, Nelson, are you a fag?” Jasper an
  10. Short stories are definitely not my strong suit, and this attempt soon became a continuous story inspired by the challenge of First Line prompts. Constructive criticism and kind encouragement are more than welcome.
  11. I can think of one conversation which would prompt this reaction: Andre: "Would you go out with me, Max?" Max: "Don't tease, I know you're straight." Andre: "What if I told you, I've been lying to you all these years, and I'm gay and in love with you?" beer
  12. Oh Miles, you are a naughty boy, getting it on with two guys at the same time. You had better choose between them soon or risk breaking Jay's heart. He and we won't forgive you that !

    Chapter 23

I like the focus on getting fresh water, because it shows a nice awareness of what can improve the life on board the ship for the crew. And of course in this instance it also brought several interesting and fun events to pass and built up suspense for the next chapter. Oh, and I may be a bit bad, but I love it when Granger snubs or exposes stupid people.
  14. Having to pay such a high price for silencing a telepath seems appropriate, but I wonder if maybe some of it was due to the fact that the guys were so heavily sedated and secluded. In any case I'm glad Abel found a way to make them feel better. And he might want to experiment with his ability to manipulate the body's ability to degrade alcohol, so that his subjects don't go from wasted to sober, but are just dialled back to pleasently drunk. Then he can use it on unknowing subjects without raising suspicion. And on willing subjects without killing their mood, lol.

    Chapter 2

So he let the nasty bully go and went on to kill the nice clerk. This was where I gave up on Justin and this story.
  16. I'm finding it hard to comment on the last two chapters. On one hand I'm glad Oli and Boris are slowly settling into a loving relationship. And Oli may become content with all the choices he has had to made to compromise, because evetually they led to Boris. On the other hand it upsets me how badly he's been hurt by his parents' choices. Eg there are obviously other werewolves in UK, but Alex has probably chosen not to be in touch with them (maybe because they despise him and hate his guts). If Oli knew other shifters maybe some of them would have happened to live near Cambridge and he would have had a place to stay while he studied there. Or if his parents loved him, they might have moved closer to Cambridge - but it clearly was so far out of the question, that Oli didn't even mention his achievement of getting accepted. But at least he has love and acceptance now - and someone who understands the sorrow of parents who betray you while doing what they think is best for you.

    Part 3: Credo

It's always horrifying when evil tries to corrupt innocence, and even more so when it comes in the shape of an adult who is supposed to represent goodness, such as a priest. But the one redeeming part of this chapter was Simon's rejection of the new priest and his attempt to save Gina as best he could. And the symbolism of forcing someone else to be in the closet without the light of God is very apt, since that is probably where Father S. is himself.

    Chapter 9

I'm beginning to like Clarissa, even if she is an evil bitch at times. And Neil will be in seventh heaven when his idol suddenly takes an interest in him. But I think Todd may be the one who'll make the biggest difference. He's so cool, I hope he gets in to a career as a teacher or a coach when he stops playing football. Could you have him go to the school thing with Jim please?
  19. I think you may be right, but it's difficult to know, since we haven't seen much of JJ yet. What I like about him, is his self-restraint and ability to see how he should act to achieve his purpose. Eg the way he knew not to go and knock on Alex's door after the discussion with Matt. He doesn't always work things out intellectually, but instinctively JJ knows that he needs to hold back and let Alex pursue him, and he prevents himself from doing what he wants emotionally in order to gain an advantage. In his way JJ is as manipulative and clever as Alex is perceived to be by many readers.
  20. I love it when I'm right: Will didn't interfere in the situation with JJ and Alex (except to tell Brad to back off - and JP backed him up). JJ told all of them to mind their own business. But I'm slightly disappointed in Stef, he used to have better instincts.

    Epilogue

Nice epilogue, but too short and I still feel cheated that we didn't get the rest of the story. I'm still wondering about how Greg's parents reacted, and I wanted to see them back up at the resort as a couple and confident about socializing with the nice crowd (as opposed to the snobs).
  22. Timothy M.

    Chapter 10

Considering how worried Greg has been about coming out, he's certainly having a lot of fun doing it, LOL. And of course Dan will take things slowly, I'm almost insulted on his behalf that Greg doesn't trust him at first. On the other hand, I'd like to see a bit of the slow steps.
  23. Timothy M.

    Chapter 9

Well, I guess you can call this a chapter of revelations. I loved the idea of Greg teasing Paul about his faulty gaydar, even if it is a bit evil. And although he psuhed the limits a bit with asking Dan whether he fancied him, Greg did at least come out to him straight afterwards.
  24. Timothy M.

    Chapter 8

This chapter is really building up the suspension with the tension between the guys, I feel sorry for Greg at having two huge surprises thrown at him at the same time, but at least anything he confesses after that will be almost anticlimatic, lol.
  25. Timothy M.

    Chapter 7

I'm not sure I follow Suvitar's line of reasoning here: why would Chris and Paul know whether Dan is gay? In any case I like him for being sensible and a good friend, both to Garrett and Greg. And it's very telling how Greg keeps comparing Dan to Paul.
