I need some advice. I work in a small school, most of the students are very bright but have some kind of issue, like ADHD, dislexia or anxiety, that keep them from reaching their full potential in bigger schools. I’m required to send certain students to support services for assistance taking tests, such as a quiet place, or having the test read. We had a quiz today, and as required I sent specific students. 2 classes later a student asks if that period had a quiz too, because the student support advisors had been giving out answers to some kids taking tests. To me this is cheating. What do do you think, is a teacher or staff member giving out answers cheating?

There is no single antivirus or firewall that gets everything. We have Trend on our machines, but I still run Windows defender once a month. It catches some things Trend misses. The second account as admin is good idea to do regardless. Then remove admin privileges from your main account. It can be a pain to give the password for admin every time you install something, but the first time you’re asked for password when you aren’t intentionally installing something you’ll be glad.
-
Create another user account with administrator privileges and log in with that, see if it’s still happening. If it isn’, you have a virus on that account. even if it is happening on another account, it could be a virus. Windows Defender, malware bytes, https://www.malwarebytes.com/ are free and can catch some things. AVG has a free version I think and that may help.

Getting Back On The Horse

Success is not a goal, but a journey (and there will be bumps along the way). Don't remember the source, but it has always helped me.- 25 comments

I'll join Kitt and give you my cane too. Several months ago I crashed my motorcycle. The doctor who operated on my hand didn't understand why I didn't want the scar reducing cream. Scars proved you did more than watch life go by, you lived. Even if those scars are inside and only you can see them.

The USS Niagara played an important role in the war of 1812. For much of the battle of Lake Erie Commodore Perry directed our ships from her decks. Even in the farthest stretch of imagination, I don't think he ever thought his flagship would sink a rubber duck. https://gooferie.com/2016/09/08/errant-cannon-fire-from-niagara-deflates-worlds-largest-rubber-duck/ look carefully at the URL. The real Erie Times web site is GoErie.com

I read a film review of Close-Knit at http://fusion.kinja.com/one-of-japans-first-mainstream-lgbt-films-is-a-groundbr-1796812392 The review looks interesting, both as a film review and a commentary on the social environment for LGBTQ community in Japan.

Those choices are hard but necessary. Print thIs out and keep it in your wallet. There may come a day someone is judging you for the choice, and this will explain better than anything else.

Wen my niece was 3, I was in my sewing phase. Some fabric company had just come out with a set of watermelon fabrics, with one looking like the rind, and another being red with white and black watermelon seeds. I also found a pattern for preschool girls dresses that was a watermelon. I made it. It had this huge bib like collar that was half a watermelon, and the pockets were triangle watermelon slices. I even found lady bug buttons and added felt leaves and ladybugs. It was my first zipper, and I messed it up. My niece's stepdad's mom replaced it for me. So for years my niece insisted Grandma C made it, even though everyone including Grandma C told her that's I made it. the dress was a swing dress and my niece was a twig, very tiny. She literally wore the dress for about 4 years, two as a dress, then two more as a top? Dress Lilly now has a watermelon dress, and my niece wants it. Odd to see I influenced her tastes as we aren't close at all.

I have had a few squabbles with various departments or people at the university since my accident and had to file several complaints. One department head asked why I was filing a complaint when a I had resolved the issue by dropping the class. I remembered this quote I first saw in high school civic, and finally found the source: First they came for the CommunistsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a CommunistThen they came for the SocialistsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a SocialistThen they came for the trade unionistsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a trade unionistThen they came for the JewsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a JewThen they came for meAnd there was no one leftTo speak out for me - See more at: http://hmd.org.uk/resources/poetry/first-they-came-pastor-martin-niemoller#sthash.0DedZdoV.dpuf This quote is obviously about standing up when you see wrong no matter who the victim. But it also states we are interdependent. "They came for me" has shaped much of my beliefs and fueled my thirst for knowledge about other cultures. Not just different countries, but groups and areas within my own.

WTF?!? just called to cancel my cardiologist follow up. No reason when I've never had chest pains, the ekg at the cardiologist was fine, stress and echo were being through, so no real heart issue. But the follow up was too late to be able to schedule surgery without having to repeat. Only the nurse sees in my file that the ok for surgery was faxed to the orthopedist on 6/13. I talked to the orthopedist nurse who schedules surgery on 6/16 and was told they didn't have it. WTF?

Certain illnesses or medical conditions require additional precautions or special care during surgery, and these become more common with age. congestive heart failure requires special care during surgery or fluid will build up around the patient's heart and cause a fatal heart attack.

This has been an absolute mess. I have to get my knee fixed, it keeps shifting. So you don't have to look that up, it moves in directions it's not supposed to, in my case both too far forward and too far towards the outside of the knee. You have to have a pre-surgery clearance no more than 30 days before the surgery - so they know the anesthesia won't kill you. So I start the process May 5th, with the blood work and ekg, chest X-ray the 9th - first available appointment. The ekg was irregular, but nothing to prevent surgery. My doctor send over the ok on the 12th. The anesthesiologist says I have to get clearance from a cardiologist on the 15th. First available appointment, June 1. I see the cardiologist and he does an ekg, no problem. Most likely the previous results were because I have big breasts and the tech doing the test put the electrode on a breast muscle not my ribs. But to be sure I have to have a stress test and echo. First available appointment for the stress test is June 7. Ok, I can do that, just have to have the blood work again. The results of the stress test aren't available to the doctor on the 7th, but the place where I had the test doesn't have any record of a problem that day. The cardiologist can't get my results to read until the 9th, so now I have to have the X-ray again. Only he didn't issue the ok for surgery like he said he would. According to his office, that isn't a problem, he'll do it at my follow up visit, July 10. So I tell them, the tests have to be no more than 30 days before the surgery, if I wait to my follow up I'll have to have another ekg. Can the doctor review the tests and issue the ok now? No, he's out of the country until July 9. None of the offices involved in this mess think they did anything wrong. All of them were told it was part of presurgery work up. Since I don't have clearance I will have to have the ekg, blood work and chest X-ray again, about $4000 to repeat the tests on top of the $11,000 insurance has paid for the first round of tests. No one understands why I'm feeling royally screwed.

I wear a rainbow necklace. I'm also making a rainbow scarf.

I think it was a couple times a week, been a few years since I tried it. Also I mostly use a bead machine, since I was given one as a gift, and I still have to add yeast.
-
I've done that, but I make bread maybe once a week, so the tending of the starter gets tedious.
-
Buy yeast in the jar instead of packets and keep it in the fridge. Three packets of yeast, 1/2 oz, about $1 here. Jar of yeast, 4 oz, about $3. I keep it in the fridge and it lasts about 2 years.

Get some dog training, Petsmart and Petco both offer classes. You need to teach him to walk on the leash before he gets bigger. Cute story, reminded me of bringing Dixie home and the trouble we're having with training Blitze

One of my son's Disney channel show has a line "if you don't like the questions, change the conversation." I suggest you do that. Don't try to act sad. Instead of waiting for your family to come to you, go to them. Grab a spriral bound notebook, or a tape recorder, your laptop if it has a camera and enough space to record, anything to make a record. Ask each family member to tell you their favorite memory of your grandfather, or something that will remind them of granddad. This will accomplish 3 things: 1) you're creating a lasting memory for your grandmother, 2) you're engaging the family and 3) you have a reason to not act sad. Take all the memories shared, and compile them, a book of stories, a DVD, whatever, and give your grandmother.
