  1. Vampire in the mail, huh? What a clever tale you've woven, Aditus.

    Amateur Night

Interesting take on demons. I suppose that being around for so long and hanging with your peers will lead to such reminiscences. I'm sure the young man in the bathroom had a very different take on demon behavior.
  3. Oh, my gosh. What a sweet ride that was. Poor Christian Beck has an accident and we get this amazingly well woven story. You did such a wonderful job of intertwining all of the differing slices of Christian's life. He and the supporting characters are so richly human in their behavior and interactions that it is so easy like them. Well done, Kim. Really well done.
  4. Just a short note to say how well you write. Every scene paints an image; you make it come alive so very wonderfully. Bravo, Kim!
  5. That bathroom scene was a hoot. It sure had me laughing and nothing like laughter to cure the trepidation that I would be feeling if I were in David's shoes right now. I can't imagine waking up and finding my world has changed.
  6. The story description was intriguing, it got me interested and this introduction has me firmly encamped. I'm new to your writing, Kim and this looks like a good story to begin with.
  7. Cool! I didn't know you could do that.
  8. That story is so very hard to read emotionally. When I first realized that it was true, it shocked me so badly that it made reading it all the more difficult. I'm glad that I finished it and I am sorry for the loss of your online friend.
  9. This is easy, Rustle. Once you have posted your story just highlight the URL (https://www.gayauthors.org/story/ron/whatsinside) copy and paste (if using a PC it is easy, hold down the Ctrl button and hit the letter V at the same time) and the link is formed. This is one of the easy ones to explain. Cheers!
  10. I think that Stephan is right. I don't believe that I ever gave it a name but the feeling of hope does run all through the story. For me that translates as - The right guy is out there and when you find him, no matter what happens there is a way to work out differences and when the world throws crap at you (singly or together) it can be dealt with. With the man you love by your side, you can do it. - The guys survive everything and bounce back stronger, more knowledgeable about how to deal with the next thing. There is always the next thing, right. As I said, the characters are believable and well liked. If they can persevere and triumph, then perhaps there is hope for the rest of us. No matter that they are fictional characters because it is the ideal that is important. This is conveyed throughout the story.
  11. That was great. I most definitely agree that the men were gorgeous.
  12. The first time that I read Book 1 was as a 'lurker'. I re-read this a second time and finished recently, I thought I would say something. You sure do paint a pretty picture with your words. The characters are amazingly believable people with all their foibles intact. Their back histories, particularly Darrin’s, you spelled out in such a realistic manner that even though I do not share their experiences, I could certainly sympathize with them. The conflicts, both relationships related and through the obstacles (manufactured or otherwise) that life throws at Mitch and Darrin, was handled with aplomb. I want to mention the sex as there was much of it. The sex was sweetly described when it was tender and when it was rough and tumble (often), it was made to feel very appropriate to the character's dispositions and the setting. I enjoyed reading about Darrin and Mitch so much that I followed right along with the continuation of their lives into the books that followed. I haven’t been disappointed along the way.
  13. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's stories. I wouldn't want to miss a single one. Will each author post links to their story here for us to find them easily?
  14. Nice and homey, makes me all warm inside. Very nice!
  15. This is not such a bad thread idea. I'm not sure what I could add to it but I would certainly follow it and hope to learn something.

    The Graveyard Party

What a charm(ing) story, Kitt. I wonder if there will be repercussions? After all, somebody got bit by a zombie.
  17. This is a new idea to me. I never would have thought of the whole sinning on purpose angle. Though, sadly it doesn't surprise me.
  18. Even as an adult, which I was when this debuted, I still watched it and thought it amazingly well done. I have the entire series on DVD. Though I have not watched any of it in a long, long time, your review makes me want to give it another look. Thanks

    Chapter 13

Having Mattie see the counselor with Dylan was a nice touch. Spin is balking at his being forced to 'take it easy'. Who couldn't see that coming? I liked that the first rescue horses weren't on their last legs or damaged physically. We get eased into it along with the characters and that's a nice touch. Thanks.
  20. That was really a nice interview. I run into Lisa all over the place too. In fact, Lisa was the first person to review my first posted story. She found two mistakes and was very nice about pointing them out. Not something or someone that I am likely to forget.

    Chapter 8

The plot prompt was not so hard to figure out this week. This little slice gave me a good laugh. Thanks.
  22. You point out the distinction of my using Censorship in the thread title and self-censorship in the leading thread comment. Self-censorship was perhaps the wrong word choice but like Brink mentions, it falls into the greater catchall of Censorship even so. Still, it is a distinction that many are making in this thread and one that I use myself when it is convenient for me to do so.
  23. Brink's reply was shrunk to save space Hey, hey, hey no reason to go all ninja on me. I have said it privately and I will reiterate for you and also say it publicly... I value your opinions. This one no less than any of your others. The question is indeed inspired in part by what you said. I am sorry if you feel that I have somehow mangled your words or turned them around or against you. That is simply not the case nor was it my intent. I don't like thinking that I can be faulted for taking the one paragraph of yours, coming to my own conclusions and then furthering the thought. Or, asking a question and making a connection to another thread because of it. I was not couching and if it seemed that way, you should not have assumed that it was in order to deceive or misdirect anyone. It was my hope that folks would link to Sasha's thread and read it. Sasha's story, 'Home Grown' is a tough story. Its' depiction of a incestuous pedophilic uncle and two brothers who fall in love was surprising to say the least. I thought that it was extremely brave of him to put that out there but perhaps also a bit crazy to do that here. Although I hit the like button, I did not leave a review. My thought at the time was that liking it was a safe option but reviewing it might be a way to shoot myself in the foot. I am a new presence here on GA and still unsure of my place in it. I am most certainly a new author and very new to the craft. I want folks to read what I write so I don't want anyone making false assumptions about me because I reviewed a story containing incest in a positive way. But, I wanted to leave a review and my self imposed censorship has bothered me ever sense. I wondered all along if I was alone in my action? When Sasha began his thread - The Last Taboo, I thought that I may possibly find out if there were others that felt as I did. I did not find any such thing and so I continue to wonder. What I did find was a lively discussion of incest and other possible taboos. Then your reply showed up and one thing led to another.
  24. Yes, indeed we censor ourselves everyday and 'Does this make me look fat?' isn't likely to influence anyone's opinion of whether it is acceptable to be gay or not. Nifty.org allows the various subject matter that you expose and while it is not be appreciated here on GA, each subject has it's following there. Irregardless of its possibly being biographical, it is written as fiction which makes it covered under the 1st amendment. You say, James that you are not interested in exploring any of these topics, to which I reply - fair enough. I respect that but it still beggars the question, should we censor these types of stories in order to present ourselves as normal?
  25. This is not the reasoning behind my post. My reasoning for the question was an off shoot from Sasha's topic and perhaps I can clarify for you. Should we, and by extension those whom are accepting, avoid or self-censor topics in our writing that might portray us as in a less than 'normal' light? Should our writing avoid taboos or any other controversial topics merely to be perceived as somehow okay and therefore acceptable?
