I would concur with @dughlas, the fact that most likely Ralph was feeling the same as Stanley, that he would catfish him to see if he is worth it, deplorable . Why didn't he make an effort to fix things before he started the whole game. Then, to show up and rub it in his face and tell him to come home, just is wrong. I know we had only Stanley's POV, but he did say that he was in a pretty shitty relationship. But... I guess he could have made the first move to fix things too

I now have a horrible scar, both on my mind and on my soul Yesterday, with the lockdown still on, I decided to take a little drive. Well more like 7 hours. I decided to head from my home in Calgary, through the Rocky Mountains to a town called Radium Hot Springs. The weather was a bit cloudy and the two mountain passes you have to cross over you were up in the clouds and snowing a bit. Oh, BTW the Rockies have been covered with snow for probably the past month now. I should have taken pictures. So it is a narrow two lane road when going through the second pass near Olive Lake when I came around a corner to find a female mountain goat just stopped in my lane licking the asphalt for the salt from the sanding and salt they put on the roads. To my right there were about 10 others all either in the ditch or up on the rocky wall on my side of the road They were doing construction down the road and the northbound lane had just been let though and it was a steady stream of traffic coming through on that lane so I can't pass said goat. She wasn't impeding that lane. The guy behind me was getting impatient and started laying on the horn. The one thing I have learned of the multiple goats on the roads over the years, if you blow your horn, they will look at you, give you a fuck off look and then some will even lay down on the road. Cheeky bastards. Luckily my nanny didn't lay down. But, in fact a young billy, wandered onto the road and circled the road-licking-nanny and started sniffing her butt. Before my eyes, Mr. Billy got an erection within seconds and tried to mount the nanny All about 4-5 feet in front of my bumper Isn't there something illegal about watching animal porn, if not, there should be For my luck, she was not having anything that he was offering in front of my very own eyes. She took off running and up the rocky wall, with him and the rest of the heard following behind. How does one wipe that from your mind I would really like to know. Now I'm willing to guess it isn't CJ, as the Canada/US border is still closed to non essential travel. Also, after the incident of 2004, the Canada Border Agency has a high risk alert out to not let him in the country. Lastly, said billy had sexual interests in a nanny. Since we all know CJ is our resident gay goat, he wouldn't be having any of that

The thing I hate about posting the blog, is I can't 'like' it. So for @ancientrichard and the Review Team I give it an overwhelming ❤️ I'll kick off the comments too So if you are a Tolkien or a Rowling fan, I think both are excellent examples of how a made up fantasy world can become so real. You understand the skill and craft to make a story no matter what the subject and storyline is, a place you can imagine is somewhere out there. Could this have been earth in another age, could this be actually what is going on, just we don't know about it? Well I have always said that the Rothenian Tales is another example of the skill of a remarkable author who can capture you imagination and take you to be immersed into the story among all the characters. Like ancientrichard, I want to jump on a plane and go to Rothenia. Covid or not So if you have read the story, who is your favourite character? I debate between Justy and Henry. Both are so opposite, but I don't know who I like better If you find you are at home with nothing to read at this moment, check it out. I'm sure you won't be disappointed

Is it Monday already What happened to Sunday Well without much more delay, here is a great review on one of my all time favourites here at GA! Thanks for @ancientrichard for bringing this most excellent review! Rothenian Tales Mike Arram Reviewer: ancientrichard Status: Complete Word Count: 787,516 Michael Arram's Rothenian Tales focus on events in a mythical central European state which the author tells us was inspired by Anthony Hope's Ruritania, though a good deal of the action takes place in other parts of the world, especially England where the series begins. It is wise to read the stories in the order in which they were written as characters introduced in one story usually appear in many of the later stories, which contain many references to earlier events. Mike's story The Eskaton is actually the tenth story in the series, though it is not labelled as such. His story The Golden Portifor is also set in Rothenia, several centuries before the events in the other stories, but there is no need to read it first, it could be read at any stage and is well worth reading. The saga begins around the end of the twentieth century, when the collapse of the Soviet Union and the consequent end of the Communist dictatorship in Rothenia was still a fresh memory. In the first story, The Heart of Oskar Prinz, we are introduced to Rothenia in the company of a young English Schoolmaster, Will Vincent, whose life is transformed by an encounter with a young Rothenian aristocrat seeking restoration of the family estates. Later stories involve the revival of the Rothenian monarchy. Much of the action is seen from the point of view of English school friends of the young king. There is a strong supernatural theme in these stories. Just a hint in the early stories, the otherworldly component had become the dominant theme by the end. The supernatural can be tricky, but Arram handles it very well. While the righteous mostly triumph in the end, they don't have an easy ride. Characters are not black and white but realistic shades of grey. The 'good' characters have their lapses. In Mike's world not even angels are entirely angelic, and, with the possible exception of a distinctly disagreeable mother in law, not even the most abominable are entirely beyond redemption though redemption is far from painless. Not many authors manage such a balance. Mike says that he was more in love with the country than with any particular character, and I sympathise. I wish there really were a Rothenia, but I do have a favourite character. Henry Attwood, who appears as a schoolboy in the third story and is at the centre of much of the action in the later stories. Kind but not sentimental, brave but not foolhardy conscious of his own weaknesses with a well developed sense of humour, he is the embodiment of balance and calm self critical reflection, the calm centre of the exciting turbulent world Mike has conjured up for us. All the stories are exciting and extremely well written, the personalities of the principal characters are well developed and we see them grow as they progress through the stories of the series; these stories are about people one can believe in despite the extraordinary situations in which they find themselves. The plots have multiple strands which gradually come together. As the main adventure progresses the individuals develop from naïve schoolboys into formidable men. Although the stories are linked by common themes and common characters, Mike has something new to surprise us in every story. Some of the Rothenian words are puzzling. I'd love to know how to pronounce 'Vwyszh'. What's up world? I'm beginning to think I'm living in hell. What is the famous saying, when hell freezes over? Well that is happening right now in my little corner of the globe. Snow, winds of 80 km/hr or 50 mph, and just downright miserable since about 4 hours ago. I think it is time to throw the flannel sheets on the bed 🥶. Well happy Candy Hangover Day!!! If you partook in Halloween last night that is. I guess all day yesterday I wore a mask a lot of day, but not a scary one Talking with some friends, they said they bought the same amount of Halloween Candy this year, knowing full well that they would probably have less than 10 percent of the usual trick or treaters. The reason? They felt they could eat all the candy they wanted and not feel guilty and not worry about running out before the end of the night So what about you, any thing special happen last night in your neck of the woods? For a public service announcement, if you log into GA first thing in the AM and you live in most places in North America or Europe or the spotty areas in the Southern Hemisphere, did you set your clocks back an hour? The falling back of time was always been a favourite holiday of mine when I worked retail. Watching people walk right into the locked glass front doors when they thought it was 8 AM, instead of it actually only being 7 . For that reason alone, I consider it a holiday. Does that make me bad? We had a relatively quiet week here to finish out the month of November here at the GA News Blog. Monday, Cia was here with the ever popular CSR Discussion Day. Then a hop, skip, jump and a sashay into Friday, where the latest and hottest thing trending on the Internet launched. Boo!!! So did I skare you ? It is less than a week now to Halloween. Does it seem due to Covid there just isn't the real excitement that most years have 😢 In my city/province trick or treating isn't banned or restricted, but some strong recommendations to keep both yourself and the kiddies safe. I wish I lived in a two story house, I so would have a plastic pipe or tube running from a second floor window and shooting the candy down to the kids that do come out. Heck, I would probably do that every year now that the suggestion is out there What about your town/city? Wow, about 3 weeks ago I was thinking to myself, 'Self, what was that story where the kid was having a rough time and needed to get a job. Then he got a job as a ....' Well thanks for the reminder Cia I loved this story and it was up there with one of my favourite Jack Scribe stories On a sad note, GA and other fiction sites all lost a great man a few years back. So, I was really, really hoping that some new prompts would have rolled in. But alas, not to be . @aditus has been a real trooper providing us with some great prompt ideas. So to close out the guest prompts, unless some arrive before next Friday, here is the final Guest Prompts. Well Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends Although I'm sure many people are wondering what Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas will look like this year, I'm sure we will all return to what is most important to us and celebrate that! You tell me what that is to you. So I do really want to take a moment out on this weeks wrap up to give a shout out to Carlos and all he does for the Ask An Author 2.0. He has a new one every month for Renee or me to share with everyone here. The thing is he does need some new questions. They can be serious, they can be deep, they can be fun Heck, Carlos, here is my question: As an author what do you prefer wearing when writing, boxers or briefs Yes, you would need to take in account our female authors too, so add in briefs, square cut briefs, panties, granny panties, thongs, G-string, etc. The point is, ask it and Carlos I imagine can work it in. I also would be remiss in not calling everyone to helping out occasionally the GA Review Team. As Timothy M says, it is quiet easy and quick to do. If you like a story you just have read, be it a new author, an old author, an in between author, or poet, fire off a review and send to Timothy M or Renee.
