    Chapter 12

MD - not going to waste keyboard strokes on that sorry excuse for a human being. Poor sweet Eddie. Being used by his mother to do terrible things. I'm glad it's been confirmed that he is only doing what his mother tells him because of his love for Bryan...yeah and the mother too. Though with her, I don't think he has forgotten what she did to him, so maybe its more like approval with her. Love triumphs over approval, doesn't it? My hope is that Sarah encourages Bryan to go see Eddie as a distraction for missing Wyatt at which time, there is an all important "conversation" between the brothers. The only thing is, I think I would have better luck wishing for unicorns to rescue Wyatt at this early stage in the story. I'm not sure what it's going to take to revive Wyatt's sense of survival as he seems quite resigned to his fate. Fingers crossed for something to come to pass. Excellent chapter CM!
  2. Kendall picked one of the roses out of the vase and held it to his nose, breathing in deeply before returning it to its eleven friends. Just have to say, I love that line Gary. Kendall and Michael are just perfect together. Their love and respect for each others needs knows no bounds. There is one thing that really hit me as I pondered what I was going to write in my review. My thoughts on this started in earlier chapters regarding Kendall's link to his future child. Sure, the child would be his, but only Michael would enjoy the added bonus of the biological connection. For Kendall, that is something he would never experience. My sadness over Kendall's loss was rectified in this chapter. Whether she intended to or not, Candy has given Kendall a great gift by asking him to be her birthing partner. That is a role for the father and by giving Kendall this opportunity, he will feel what its like to be a father; thereby, strengthening the already strong bond he feels now. I can just picture him in the delivery room cutting the umbilical cord. I'm relieved too that Michael does not appear to have any issues with this plan. I guess he will get his turn (with Kendall there too, of course) when Kendall's becomes a biological father by way of a surrogate mother. Just a little hopeful prediction for the future... As always, a wonderful chapter Gary!

    Another Passage

That was really beautiful Samuel. When you mentioned you had written a poem, it didn't occur to me that I would have the privilege of reading it. Thank you for sharing your words. They say so much.... I'm sure Mr. Bartlett would be pleased. 1810
  4. I concur completely Drew, but you missed a few
  5. Delightful chapter Carlos. It was really good to see how well the three boys got along. Love the typical teenage boy messing around – in actions and words. It bodes well for the future long term. I must say, the “adults” are as good as the kids when it comes to playful bantering. I’m a little disappointed that we (the other faithful readers) have to wait for so long before CJ and his “cousins” get to meet one another. But, I have faith that there will be lots of things in the interim to distract us while we wait patiently…. Interesting twist that Tom and JP might sell their home, not only would it be financially beneficial, I also had the thought that geographically, it would bring them closer to their friends. That is, it easier to “just pop in” on the spur of the moment. Or maybe not... Another thing that made me chuckle was Autumn’s (nice shout out) reaction to her new car – the American built green Ford Fiesta. My family is not from Michigan, but my dad did work for Ford, so my first car was a green (love that coincidence!) Ford Escort. I had that car for 17 years… Lots of foreshadowing of the good things to come as the story progresses – can’t wait!
  6. Spot on Carlos. Oh, and I was the kid that ate mud - just once mind you
  7. I'm so glad that Headstall was included in Ask an Author! His stories are wonderful as are his responses to reader reviews. He is very deserving of this honour.
  8. What Val said. It was the only show my brothers and I could agree about without arguments.

    Chapter 11

or OR and My money is on both evil and devil with a dash of crazy on top. Beyond that, there are no words to describe this abomination masquerading as a genteel southern lady. Adding insult to injury, she is using Eddie's love and devotion for Bryan to make him do bad things. There is no punishment - oh wait, yes there is ...Bryan will hate her when the truth comes out if not try to kill her... Please somebody, restrain Bryan before he throttles his mother and ends up in jail. Then again, everyone just turn and look the other way.....Feeling rather bloodthirsty after reading that chapter, I am. Wow, is there no end to MD's depravity? I hope Bryan, Sarah and the police catch on to her dastardly deeds soon, though I fear it won't be soon enough to prevent Wyatt from suffering more at MD's hands.
  10. I'm Canadian and I would never utter the phrase "Team Canada are on a winning streak". Whoever said that needs grammar lessons...

Loved the "heart to heart" chat between Romeo and Jonah. Wish there was more....

    Eight-fifteen

Sweet story and just exactly the type of story I was looking for to read tonight. Now on to Book 2
  13. I didn't expect anything disastrous to happen, but it was nice to see the positive resolution of chapter three's cliffhanger nonetheless. This was a good chapter in that there was a lot of "opening up" amongst the Elders. its nice to see them agreeing on things, especially Jason. I think each of them will be able teach the others a little something as they each have positive things to contribute. I look forward to the next chapter and beyond watching the Elders as they learn and grow together. Nicely done Cynus.

    Chapter 10

I'm still firm in my belief In that MD is behind everything. Her reaction to everything is completely inappropriate and bordering on bizarre. How she can watch Bryan suffer is horrible. I am so glad that the police were able to dispel any notion that Wyatt disappeared of his own volition - take that MD !!! Since Darrin cannot be located, this thought occurred to me - what if MD had him disappear as well? If nobody can find him, he can't prove his innocence, making him the perfect scapegoat. I'm probably reaching with that theory, but.... There were signs throughout the chapter that everyone at one point or another thought that MD's words or actions were off. For Bryan and Sarah, I think they were more perplexed, whereas, the cops were suspicious. I hope they stay suspicious..... Until next time....
  15. I guess Canadians have more in common with Texans than we do with New Jerseyians ( if that's a word ) as we pronounce tournament the same way. I have never heard it pronounced any other way but as "Turn-ah-ment.

    The River

How to Win Friend's and Influence People - Piece of cake if you are CJ Abello. tolerance, acceptance, support, guidance, trust - just some of the prerequisites for friendship. It was a delight to see CJ interact with his peers. He is a remarkable young man in his own right, but the influence of his dads' and uncles have helped him fine tune what were already inherent facets of his character. His friendship with Harley is a joy to observe. Harley is a whirling dervish who is slowly discovering his off switch through CJ's (and Carlos and Cap) acceptance of his behaviours - a gentle nudge can go a lot farther than a hard shove. He is also free to be himself without fear of recrimination, something he alluded to happening at home. It's too soon to tell, but I think he may also become friends, to some degree, with Lance. Joining Lance in detention is a start. Telling Kenton that his behaviour was wrong and doing it without anger or malice Is commendable. I doubt he has experienced that approach in the past. A little bit (or a lot ) of advice given in a constructive manner, not only shows compassion on CJ's part, but will encourage Kenton to be brave enough to adjust his current behaviour for the better. Thiago is in there too, but I will leave his story as I am sure there will be one, for later date. PS: Loved the pillow talk between the 'rents. The adoption?
  17. Another excellent poem. You've converted me - never use to give poetry an ounce of my time. You possess mad skills.
  18. The rings, the proposal....just perfect. It's a good thing that they are not rushing into the next stage of their relationship. Savouring the moment seems to be only heightening their joy and strengthening their love. Add in the adorableness of Lanny and Janine..... Thank you Gary for a truly "feel good" chapter.
  19. I'd say it is completely acceptable. The boys, as you mention, are young and inexperienced. I think it would be unrealistic if they were anything other than awkward and fumbling. I haven't started reading your story as yet, but I will be soon. From its description, I gather it is more than just about a young man finding someone and having mad passionate sex. What he feels and experiences are the core and that is what I am looking forward to reading. This is your story and you need to write it in a way that makes you happy with the finished product. PS. I think it's safe to say, that people who are reading your story are not doing so solely to fulfill a need for racy sex scenes - there are enough stories out there to fill that void.

    Prompt 441

I was going to say that was sweet and fun...but then you had to go and make Tim be a "bad" alien. Not nice Val i think you know what your next prompt should be.....

    Chapter 9

It's obvious the bundled up figure was not Wyatt and I do believe Marc's dad is well on his way to coming to that conclusion as well I had a few of my own hypotheses as to how this was going to play out. This chapter confirms one of them as incorrect, I can breath a sigh of relief - I had thought that Eddie might have gone after Darrin on Bryan's behalf thereby ending up in trouble with the police. I'm glad that didn't happen, but having MD using Eddie to do her dirty work? That is so beyond unforgivable! She is a horrible mother! Okay, calming down now as this thought just popped into my head. If Wyatt has the ability to reach a student who is disinterested in school, then I think he will be able to get through to Eddie as well. How it will all work out, remains to be seen. But, I do think MD is in for a surprise.... So many emotions triggered by this chapter CM. Well done!

    Prompt 438

That was really really well done. A great twist to the usual vampire/human relationship that was completely believable. Thank you for taking the time and effort to write this tale.
  23. Agree with you 110 % From start to finish, it was a job well done by all involved.
  24. Out of likes again so  Although I never really gave it much thought, if asked, I would likely have said Kung fu referred to some type of fighting. After reading this blog entry, I will say it means "supreme skills from hard work". Thank you for sharing this with us Cynus. It is quite insightful and leaves me with a lot to think about for today and for future days to come. PS: I took out the word "that"
  25. I really liked it. There was a nice flow to the story that made it enjoyable to read. As for the plot and characters, I liked that too and think this would be good as a full length story or a series of shorts.
