Love the start of this ghost story. Will and Billy and the rest of the spirits are in trouble, and Engeris needs help! The information given Charlie and friends made Charlie decide that this was a job for Third Planet Inquiries, and Charlie assemble a team. Here is where my questions come to fore. Since it was learned that the spirit plane is part of the universe, why did Charlie not get Kirby and Blinken to help? Is Chirka's title as a Wizard honorary, or is she a powerful wielder of magic? Since she has lived on Engris so long, been exposed to many beings with squish, and has been able to access the spirit plane without dying, does she have a hernacki of her own? Or is she very, very powerful like Nicholas? I have always been amused by Sefton, and anticipate his inclusions into the team. I also like that Horace and Uncle Bob will arrive soon. Regal and Casper complete the team. I also had forgot Regal had spent time in the spirit plane. Last questions. Does magic work in the spirit plane? Will it work as normal when applied to spirits? Looking forward to finding out the answers to all the questions mentioned in the comments. Thanks @Geron Kees for another Halloween story to the Charlie Boone collection!

Being one of the early "baby boomers" I often heard the phrase "back when I was a kid" a lot from my family and their friends. Having lived through the transitions caused by technology, I recognized many sides of the problem. I honestly do not know how this will ever be resolved, but I do think this chapter was a great description of what has happened, is currently happening, and what will continue to happen in the future. I just wish more people would try to figure out how we can make it a less difficult situation for our future generations.

Caspian is taking his time to make a very deliberate investigation, draw his conclusions and decision. I also suspect he is giving Katherine and Konstantin time to consolidate power and heal their packs. If the investigator did suspect anything, I suspect she deliberately left the message in order to calm things while Caspian took his time to decide. As for Dr. Clark, he seems to have disappeared much like Kavan did. Since his companion is not human, she probably was at least part of the reason he disappeared. I am not sure Dr. Clark is to blame, and maybe the boys will need to hear his side before making judgements. I am enjoying this adventure very much. I am looking forward to the meeting with Caspian as well as finding out what powers Ry and Nathan have. I also think Nathan's curiosity is both cute and fun. I wonder how he will use his knowledge to advance vampire science. 😜 Grandpa Munster was known as a vampire scientist! Why not Nathan?

@Comicality,I often wondered what the comments meant when the word "flowed" was used to describe what had happened in the chapter. I think I now know what was meant in many of these comments. That is why I like your essays on writing. I also have to say it makes me more appreciative as a reader to understand the planning necessary to write action scenes. The author has to plan the actions is such a way that the reader does not feel there is a plan. The action has to feel spontaneous and unexpected. That way the reader forgets they are reading and feels they are there witnessing what is going on. I liked the clips you selected to illustrate your points as usual. I really enjoyed the "Temple of Doom" clip, because that scene is my favorite from the Indiana Jones series, even if the movie wasn't my favorite of the series. I also love anything by Jackie Chan! Thanks for all these great essays!

Don't worry I will take advantage of Drew's Holiday Exemption. I'll make sure to apply every aspect to the fullest!

Try selling that idea to your mom, Drew! Which would you have? This: or This!

They still made a fortune out of it!

@Philippe This is a wonderful poem! It's like an abstract painting full of details and wonderfully illustrated pieces of the mixed up puzzle of Rusty's sexual fantasies. It was light, serious, sensuous and absolutely funny at the same time. Just awesome.

Matty knows just what to say and do in order to get Rusty to learn. He has been studying Rusty for a long time, and now it pays off. It's a miracle that anyone can control Rusty, so Matty in charge must be some kind of saint. Of course the ruler and implied use of said ruler would definitely spark Rusty's kinky side. I also got a big laugh when Rusty used "nerdy BTS look" to describe Matty. Rusty does appreciate the male body, since Rusty requested a peek at Matty's abs as a condition for accepting Matty's challenge. As for the trophy awarded the winner of the challenge, I am sure Matty will preserve it and sniff it frequently. Not sure about the rubbing all over the body, because that might change the smell.

I did read it, right after The Hollow Hills. It is a very sweet story that I loved and recommended highly.

I'm voting for cedar and cinnamon for the scent. The cinnamon is a given! Cedar makes a good guitar and the scent is sweet and fresh. Considering where the twins were born and are now, cedar would be very reassuring and feel like home. Second choice would be maple and cinnamon.

Hey @Doha, Thanks for saying so. This is a great story, and Valkyrie has some additional shorts after this. Don't miss the one Val wrote for Our Christmas Songbook. That one is the chapter entitled Ten Lords a Leaping. I would recommend reading Our Christmas Songbook for Christmas holiday. It's a great read of delightful short stories by Val, Cole Matthews, and Aditus.

I smiled a lot and had some happy tears too. The two best parts were Ashton, Elijah, Austin and Tyler when they first held hands with their mates. The second was the reuniting of Ashton and Austin with their parents. There were other wonderful moments also and this chapter left me feeling very happy with what is happening. One comment mentioned that part of Caleb's problem may have to do with Vann. I felt the same way. Caleb protected Vann as best he could from the time Vann's mother died. Caleb obviously loved him so much that Caleb betrayed the pack. Caleb's condition was the only sad part of this chapter. Ashton's delight at getting a tablet he could use to communicate was very special. I also got a good laugh when mom confiscated the lollipops. My mom let my younger brother and I keep ours on the trip home so we'd keep our mouths shut and no argue. @kbois should keep that in mind when she wants to get the Korner Krew to tow the line on comments.

With Cassiel's brother lurking in the background, I am sure there will be a lot bigger challenges facing everyone. He's the one trying to bring down the Veil and take over Earth. Something evil this way comes to challenge Elijah, Tyler and their mates as well as Sebastian and Cassiel. @Mrsgnomie might prevail on @kbois to get Caleb in on the action as one of the hero's. There's just so much potential for the next book. I'm getting excited!

I vote for jumping on them, bowling them over on their backs, then licking their faces!

For a moment I thought @kbois was talking about the Korner Krew, not the twins.

A plan of escape, yes? I'm not sure I would agree to that kind of plan with people shooting at me with live ammo trying to kill me. I hope they all make it out alive! Exciting action in this chapter! Do we have to wait another week before we get relief from this cliffhanger????????

I still see a lot of evidence that the twins are still close to being humans. They recognize language, respond to questions and can express their opinions if given the opportunity. Opinions come from evaluation and judgement skills not found in animals except humans, dolphins and the great apes. I think using the next two or three days having Ashton and Austin around other wolves that are shifting and trying to communicate with them is a good idea. It might even be good for Elijah and Tyler to try to inch closer to their cage to see how proximity to the guys affects the twin's behaviors. If things look good, then have Elijah go into their cage as a wolf. Elijah can quickly shift to something else to protect himself in necessary. One thing I don't see as necessary is to drug them on the flight. Sebastian has the means to arrange for a cargo transport for the flight that could protect the crew without drugging the twins. Kage killed Trevor, that's f--king fantastic! Corbin having a bit of a twisted sense of humor is great. He'll fit in fine with Ben and Zev by trading jokes. Huntington needs to be taken care of fast. He has a lot of potential to continue stirring up trouble.

The wedding was perfect, but I wanted to hit Kurt on the head when he got upset with Daisy Chen. Give the lady a chance. She probably knew they were both alphas by their smell. Since they were paired in sibling couples, it was easy to see how Daisy could be confused. Kurt needs to understand that it won't be the last time, so he better get used to it. Chaska did her job with Tahryn and Isla had given him the inspiration or vision for the future success of the pack. I do feel sorry for David. He's doing the right thing, but it is difficult losing his mate and and now may fear losing his daughter.
