Melinda is a puzzling figure indeed. For all we know, she is human. Yet she had been chosen to watch over and possibly train and nurture the most powerful being on earth. This was known and accepted by the (hostile) govt. agency. While Vinicius had been murdered to possibly keep him from finishing the training and set forth the mission for Dani, no one interfered when Dani was placed with her, albeit short. Her being the proxy puts her by definition in a position of greatest trust. So even in the shortest time she could have told/shown Dani most important information etc. yet she still lives, while Eric had to die. Obviously the powers that be did move Dani quickly to the new academy to avoid her becoming his guardian of sorts, but still. She seems like a lose end for at least one hostile faction…

With great power comes great responsibility - Vinicius might have wanted to instill empathy, (social) responsibility and rational and deductive thinking into his priced ward, before teaching him and unleashing the immense power within Dani. His premature death left Dani a very agreeable person, but still clueless about his powers. Which possibly plays into the hands of those that want to keep the Government faction in the dark about Dani‘s true potential, while the enemies of Vinicius might want to kill Dani regardless for fear of a hidden “program“ that might have been put into Dani that thwart or threaten their plans or existence.

So Dani is the ultimate fighter…looks like at least two sides have their eyes on him. The government, obviously, and the royalists. perhaps his mentor does not want the government to see Dani and his full powers, rather have him fail, and appear as mediocre at best, or a failed project of the late Master altogether

I had this fleeting thought that maybe, just maybe, Dani was secretly designed to be an guardian angel of sorts to Vincent. Also, not everybody seems to be what they like to project on the surface...could it be that Maratoni and Ekhart are in fact secret Monarchists?

I don't understand how JJ being such a connoisseur in all things fails to recognise Led Zeppelin! I certainly did not understand their true genius back in the day. Only recently I immersed myself again in the music from the late sixties to early eighties...and in hindsight quite a few Zeppelin pieces seem to surpass a lot of what the other big names mentioned here produced...

The last chapters, with Aric in hospital took me back to my stint I had the honour to spend in Boston Children Hospital in the late eighties. Exciting, if strenuous times, with great staff and some of the best surgeons around. Just had to look up some names again….Aric surely got the best care possible!

No, no, no....this can't all end with one single chapter! -There's Baiza and the butcher for one - Lord Ravi needs to secretly be moved to the capital to be shown to the Emperor without Rushi getting wind... -The whole conspiracy needs to be laid bare! _ Jihan needs to become established, accepted and loved in Silver Valley - The Empire needs re-arranging after the execution of Rushi , Ravi and the rest like Baiza and the butcher.... ....then, and only then, we can think of ending this book! Please take your time finishing this! To wrap it all up in one single chapter would be rushed...

Even a year on, I still support the https://www.koalahospital.org.au and a kangaroo sanctuary. A big part of the Koalas habitat had been destroyed and a massive loss of all local wildlife was the result of these massive fires. So every effort to save, heal and restore wildlife is important still! The descriptions of fire fighting in such a blaze are chilling...I cannot begin to imagine such horrors close up. I have family that had to be evacuated in California two years back, and a friend working for Forrests and Wildlife in Alaska...but he spends most summers somewhere in the lower 48 fighting fires. from his tales alone I am happy to reside outside of any affected areas
