The great beast was like a more ferocious elephant. What great armor its hide would make. This served as another great learning experience and made their shield even stronger. As to the fire, could it be a dragon?

Some things only seem desultory until you realize there is a cause and effect or purpose. The search has resulted in many scientific discoveries. -
When they heard and felt the huge creature crashing through the forest, I thought of the scene in one of the Jurassic Park movies where the liquid in the cup starts vibrating. What the heck is it?

There is some grand and evil plan behind these attacks. I think our demon mages may be preparing for conquest and gathering supplies. Traveling in such dense forest is much like jungle warfare with little extended visibility or time to react. They will need to rely on Snave's charms to detect danger and likely the ring gifted Garvin by Crillis.

Guilty as homemade sin. -
We knew our boys were facing a formidable foe, but it's disconcerting he can detect and attack them from so far away and especially an assault on their minds. It's insidious and as violating as rape. I hope Jamie can come up with some counters. So far they've always been in the position of reacting and it's not ideal.

This does presume you can translocate to a place you have only flown over. Being airborne and on the ground are vastly different perspectives and the skill requires a mental image. I doubt even an experienced mage would want to translocate a hundred feet in the air.

It really has little to do with what they want and more to do with what Amber's parents are willing to do. For Blake to be enrolled in school, some type of legal guardianship had to be done. This provides a framework to go after them, but you have to start the process. The money for care is owed to the guardian, not the minor.

Jamie's secret is more or less now an open one. No one has taken any offense to his subterfuge, which is almost a miracle by itself. If Urvan is Leemus, the faux beggar is likely the master he trained under. Our little band are up against two powerful master mages rather than one.

There are several possible avenues here. Jamie could confess. Snave may say Jamie was posing as Thorvil with the Master's blessing, which is entirely possible. Then again, no one is going to believe a mere apprentice just transported this whole crowd into a place which must have its own magic wards.
