    You

    Such a beautiful moment.
  2. Oh my. You’ve written a real case of Who’s in Charge Here? I enjoyed it very much.
  3. So many orbits all heading for an astronomical collision. It’s so hard knowing what must follow.

    Blooms

This is awesome; a great haiku.
  5. You’re most welcome. I look forward to my occasional glimpses of my colleague’s dog. She’s really lovely. One day she will get her sniffs. In the meantime, I’ve been watching hummingbirds chase away the junk-food addict downy woodpeckers from their feeder. Thanks very much for reading, and for your comments.

    Crisis

Thanks for your response and taking time to read this. I’m sorry I took so long to reply; I apologize. The echoes of those eight minutes will sound for decades.

    Silvio

I’ve said it before: I love hanging out with the Dads. I’d be so lucky to take a guest room at the house in Malibu - I’ll even house sit while Chipper’s gone!
  8. These purgatorial haiku reflect a lot of time spent thinking and considering. I’m struck by how many are quotable and interesting to ponder. And I’m very glad you’re okay.

    Chapter 9

Oh, boy. Wild, feral Jimmy and cold, controlled Sawyer... this could be a wild moon cycle. When does it start waxing again?
  10. I finally learned the dog’s name today. Her name is Grace. One day when we need not be distant, we’ll get acquainted, and she can have her sniffs. There are lots of fledgling juncos this year; there was one cheeping away on the front step last weekend, so proud of its ability to flutter. My student would have relished these times. He was an activist even back then. Thanks for coming on my walks with me.
  11. This chapter gives every reader something to smile about. It’s great to see justice done.
  12. It’s funny how he’s never aged in my mind. He had a life as an adult, worked for change, but was cut short by a horrible illness. He will always be that earnest mop haired kid playing soccer in my head.
  13. You were good to read these, and to accompany me on my walk.
  14. My colleague has a new dog, an enthusiastic and growing Husky. On my morning walk, I sometimes encounter them, and I give them a wide, socially distant berth while my colleague tightens his grip on the leash. Over there! People! Oh, new people! Please, please won’t you let me go greet them? I promise not to slobber, bark too loud, or jump, and the tall one is looking our way; they smell so interesting, let’s go sniff! Sometimes it’s better j

    Fool Me Once

I’m so happy you liked this story. It’s funny how an embarrassing yet funny tale gets one into a bad place with the boss. Yet I have the feeling Martin and Oliver are likely to remain together.

    Picnic

This story began as a collaboration with Skinnydragon and me. I miss him very much. Drawing on our notes and my impressions, I think David’s love for Twoey is real, but his own self love and self confidence continue to take time to heal from events previous to this story. But these are my conclusions seen through my lens. Thanks very much for your comments.

    Cut the Cake

You and Paul could have hung out together. Maybe he’d have shared some icing with you too. Still, it’s amazing the things we do for love - like solve math problems... thank you very, very much for reading and responding to this.

    Fernando

I’m not sure who is scarier, Brett or Cesar. Fernando screwed up hugely. At first, I thought the man was missing as a ploy to hang onto the artwork somehow. But if he really just blew the Dads off, that’s inexcusable. I’m surprised that his contract would be so tightly written as to preclude getting fired for such gross negligence resulting in harm or disrepute to the institution. Aunt Meryl is a hoot!

    Brock

I loved catching up with this chapter. Meeting a celebrity must be a real art - and you show how these celebs and near-celebs meet and become neighbors. Loved how Zion and Bryce are as well known as Chipper and Brock.

    Crisis

It continues to make me sad, too.

    Crisis

Thanks. It’s so hard to write about.

Thank you very much for reading it.

    Crisis

I’m grateful you took the time to consider this.
  25. Crisis There’s much I cannot understand; how hearty bumblebees contrive to fly, why albatrosses rarely come to land, yet meteors transcend the sky, and how upon an uneventful day while eight whole minutes spanned again an innocent died where he lay. No genius can this mortal brain make any claim in nature to possess, but surely to the simplest mind it’s plain subjecting some to great distress, protecting and enforcing a
