Nick got into a terrible bind, but it’s not a situation entirely of his own making. Once he sorts himself out, Nick can decide about what to say to Lisa, and what conversation Ethan might have with her. But real life may not bear blowing up a friendship like that. Great story.

Wonderful reading, this chapter. Nice to see Nalbo getting his butt handed to him on a platter. Even better to see my favorite dads enjoying their time together. Now I wonder what they’ll get up to in SF? Oh, and count me on the Clippers side. I have my reasons.

Fergus certainly sounds like a controlling A-type personality. Your dialogue and description show a character who might be hard to like. I’m not sure how I feel about Fergus, but he certainly seems to wear the mantle of leadership uneasily.

Blame whoever taught George Herbert for the complex rhyme and meter scheme. I found it fascinating, almost conversational, and an irresistible challenge. Thanks very much for having a good look at these neo-Jacobean lines.

Desire conceived in snapshot haste entangles swift those pliant minds with thoughts unchaste which veer and drift upon sharp shoals of wreck and waste. Seduced by fantasies untold soon one is bound by sirens’ songs surpassing cold, no pity found, or captives who were e’er paroled. Once caught within this mental trap, How to escape? For there’s no well-marked folding map, or hole agape in fences which around us wrap.

The last three chapters were posted during Garden Week - that stretch of time it takes to till, dig, plant and fence the garden. I missed them until today! But in catching up, I savored every word, loving how Bailey and Harlan learned to sing their lives together. Thank you!

I join @dughlas in crying. I’m heartsick at what’s happened, at the injustice and at feeling powerless. At least you have given my feelings voice and broken their silence. -
Trust. It can make the world spin, and the universe move. You again show us this at work in the many-stranded tapestry woven around the camp. Bailey, Harlan, Huck, Orson, Elias, and Rayne - all made wonderfully into scenes showing us Trust. Awesome. And Harlan’s idea of breakfast made me gain five pounds just reading about it!

Elias and Rayne share a first kiss, and it’s simply beautiful. The dinner date was described so well, we were the invisible guests, not Shawn. I’m wondering about Shawn, and his reaction to the whole scenario. Could there be another reason for his watery smile? In any case, Harlan has better realize that Bailey deserves his unvarnished truth, sooner rather than later. Awesome chapter!

Now the mystery deepens: what is Jimmy, and who is he hunting? And why? Even as we linger under the moon’s silver light, I’ll be looking forward to answers next week.
