    Mac is absolutely right. I feel like @mayday: I could not rejoice at your mute pen. I would grieve instead. Your poetry is a blessing to me. Number two is especially resonant to my mind; the metaphor is perfect.

Why is it when I write a blessing each word in the dictionary flees?     I am glad that the appearance of Andy's grandmother surprised you. It certainly surprised him, too. This kind of good surprise is another of the wonderful things that has happened for him. He has roots, and family; he has solid friends, and most of all, he has Zander. I am very happy you were able to be there for the wedding.

    @Butcher56: So many things have come together here. Andy is not alone, but has an extended family; he has discovered some good roots. At the same time, it is clear that his real roots and his immediate family are right there in Blackburn. He doesn't want to leave Zander or Garrett and Monica. Allan recognizes that this is the best course. Ambrose is a great example of dogged determination and persistence, along with some good luck. I am very glad you have enjoyed this chapter and the story so far.

    @Butcher56: You were very kind in your remarks, and I very much appreciate them. Zander getting outed that way was wrong; it was the result of a foolish and petulant young man. What makes Zander so fortunate is the accepting community and family that surrounds him. The coach simply doesn't care about his sexuality - but he cares deeply about the sense of propriety that affects everyone. His siblings are supportive in different degrees, but they love him still, as do his grandparents. His Italian Grandmother is quite a character. Many thanks for reading Andy's journal to this point.

    @Butcher56: I'm glad that you detected how many departures were going on here, not just Zander's leaving for the other side of the state. Andy's driving, and even more, his own courage to ask questions are important departures from the norm. And the phone call from Kaz - and his own call with Zander - are departures from his previous life, too, unimaginable to Andy even when he was on his own at Eustace's farm. You are very kind to write so thoroughly and to continue reading the story.

    @Butcher56: There are many scars on view here. Not just Andy's scars, which Zander treats with much tenderness and care. Zander shows Andy some of the places where he, too, has had memories etched into his brain. One of these is the place where he first saw Andy in the fall sunlight. Andy's mental scars show when he begins thinking Zander might want to break up. But Zander is so very gentle with him. These boys are growing quickly, and learning to trust the love they feel. That can be true healing. Thanks again for your comments and devoted reading.

    @Butcher56: Andy doesn't have to sleep in the library closet anymore. He doesn't need to feel alone against the world. He doesn't have to hide. Now he's going to have to deal with being part of a family, and that family is going to have to learn to live with him. But it seems plain that they - and especially Zander - will love Andy, no matter what. Yes there are many questions to answer, but that must wait for later.     @Butcher56 Thanks again for commenting so thoroughly. It is indeed a long way for Andy to come when he realizes that not every adult, not every man, is like his father. He learned that from Eustace Whitley, and maybe now he is realizing the truth of it. And now Lunch Boy has a name; and he knows Andy's, too. What a pity he could not know Zander's mind as well as his name. But he would surely have envied Zander for his parents' response to Zander's coming out.     I like Jimmy. He’s forthright, and his persistence and honesty appeal to me. His kindness is also on full display in this chapter. This is a really well done chapter, and I enjoyed it.

    Andy has found someone who cares deeply for him, and a family that seems to love him, too. Andy did not open himself completely to Dr. O’Shea, but he found himself responding to her enough to think it possibly worthwhile. Andy returns love with love on Valentines Day.     I truly appreciate being told when I have erred, and how I can write better. I get more out of a PM telling me what I got wrong, or disagreeing with something I wrote than I do from a dozen one-line congratulatory comments.

    As you say, there is a lot to like in this chapter. Andy has taken a big step forward in not running away. Instead, he is maintaining his friendships and trying to deal with the yearning and turmoil of what he feels. Thank you for reading, and especially for your comments.

    The Bard’s Tale remains a marvelous experiment, and a highly successful one. Night Thoughts presented a bleak look at inprisonment of minds and selves. And the Incy Wincy Spider successfully got under my skin. All three show the author’s broad scope of interest and unconventional writing. Wonderful promo!

    @Butcher56: All kinds of questions and issues raised here; I shall remain mute on most of them. Andy has learned to hide well - very well. His scars will be the last thing he lets anyone see. You’re right about one thing, though. Zander is quite probably full of a nervous energy and inner turmoil that we can only imagine. Having Andy right there, in his house, in the next room, must be both wonderful and terrifying. Thank you for reading the journal thus far, and for your comments.

    @Butcher56 : Thanks again for reading this very difficult part of the journal. Andy will have to come out and face the world at some point, that’s true. He’s had a hell of an experience, and even though he escaped, he feels unable to trust anything anymore. It’s a terrible disaster for a lot of reasons.

    @Butcher56: Andy is finally - finally - beginning to learn, and not just about academics. He is slowly becoming the young man he ought to have become. The friendships he has made are with three other solid kids. He may not completely trust everything that is happening, but even he can see that it is good. And as for his academic experience, what happened with Mr. Karpus is utterly outside his knowledge. He isn't used to that kind of respect. Thanks again for reading, and for your comments.

    @Butcher56: Andy is trying school as the least worst of alternatives. Even so, he is ready to flee if he has to. Or perhaps not - he seems tired of running. But his search for a safe haven continues. Thank you for reading so far into Andy’s journal, and for your comments.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter, and the menu. Zoe takes no prisoners is such a wonderful, and accurate characterization. It was artfully done.
