Your words mean a great deal to me. Thank you. The court that sits in judgement is so often within our own mind, and so often harsher than any other tribunal. To the angels of our better nature, or to others' better nature we might appeal, but who can release us from our private hells? I feel for Ryder; he has been badly hurt, and has compensated by constructing a thick armor of football and school smarts. His parents love him, and show it, but it still may not be enough. You have given us interesting clues to leave us wondering about Callen and Garrett....looking forward to another chapter!

Thanks for a little more insight into Ryder. He has reason to be nervous and miserable, and it doesn't help that he has been distant, too. Nice to hear the voice of Jeremy, too. Perhaps he needs a dad to be a dad, and not a coach for a while.

Misadventure I led a boring life, both plain and staid, and never thought to question or incite experience of which I'd be afraid, or pleasures which I could not have the right to hope for, though the sun should take its flight a million times before it ceased to burn, but then we met, establishing my plight: I seek from unforgiving hell's return. Jae had to leave, or so he thought. But did he know he'd break Dave's heart, too? Dave and Jae have undertaken journeys, each seeking something that may not ever be there. But the hope for wholeness and an end to hurt can make strange illusions seem so very real. There is great sadness in this chapter. Dave could not even begin to think of Terry, for Terry could not ever really make him whole. But what does Jae imagine? Great chapter!

No way it wasn't a kick to Dave's gut, but at twenty-two, he might still have thought that nothing bad could happen. That Dad wants to try and do the right thing makes him a good guy; so many others would have cut and run. As for the scenes, you wrote what you had to write - sensual, frank and steamy - because that's what both of them wanted. And while it's not the purpose of the story, it sets up what follows. Thanks.

This was a great chapter, with love and tension and Evan's brilliant tactical sortie to the grandparents. And this chapter certainly saw the youngsters pin back their grandparent's ears! All those nasty things Henry must have said, and then to be visited by such pleasant, properly behaving youngsters and their...husbands-to-be. If that doesn't get the older generation thinking more carefully and out of their staid, antiquated boxes, then what will?

You are absolutely right about the fear and trembling that courses through the body as one even considers talking out loud about the Gay-word. And then to actually act on that conversation, not just hive it off into some abstract part of the brain where it will be safely left to fester for a while...well, there is the leap for you. Chuck is definitely getting ready to leave a fantastic legacy for his community. And it certainly seems to need what he is planning. Chuck is so very lucky to have a supportive and caring boyfriend...and one who is so attentive! What a great shame three thousand miles will have to separate them. And Chuck on his way to Miami? He is certainly self-reliant. And you are surely right that the road he chose was terribly wrong. How good of you to at least identify facets of his character that might have led him into something better, and which might yet do so. And it is so nice of you to say our predator is complex - very hard to like - but perhaps human enough to change course. Many thanks for your support and review!

You're right that Marc has a power over our predator that he never thought no to experience. But Marc doesn't know that, yet. He only sees our predator on his doorstep, and his greeting is certainly not auspicious. You're also right that what may happen is completely in the unknown...and out of the predator's control. This must be a situation with which our predator is deeply, deeply uncomfortable. Many thanks for your perceptive and thoughtful commentary!

Chapter 51 Two Sides of Nicola

Nicola and Robbie have been seething at each other for quite some time. Her explosion had to come sooner or later - in fact, I am rather surprised it hadn't happened already. The unfortunate thing is that the longer Robbie waits to reveal himself entirely, the longer Nicola will have to hurt him, and the more it will hurt. But it is puzzling why she would choose to defend him in school - is it that she views him as a thorn in her side, but that Robbie is her thorn? Just a thought. -
I am enjoying this story to this point. I am looking forward to seeing how you develop it further.

The lost man at sea metaphor you suggest in your review is quite apt. Our predator is indeed at the mercy of the currents of life, and at the mercy of monsters which lurk in the deep. Neither have been merciful - not that he deserves mercy. I am glad you continue to sense a degree of menace in this chapter - that part came out all right, then. Zac's reaction to seeing Adrian and Valerie in the mall screams out that he's not ready to date anyone yet - not Omari, not Adrian. He may have made his decision, but clearly, Zac is still running. Irene and Omari did not realize this; Zac is in a different place to where they thought. Their line of questioning betrays this. But it is the pity of the world that Zac hurt Omari and Irene, and even more of a pity that he could not articulate his discomfort and growing unease. Thanks for this difficult but important chapter.

What a chapter of homecomings you give us. So much news, so much to digest. And now the gang, plus Owen, are all assembled in plenary session...Washington cannot be ready for this. I am afraid to see what they will get up to, especially after Harley's special brownies! But I worry for Owen. Even if he is content to hang with a much younger group for the sake of CJ, might he not feel shut out or distant from his own peers? Will that be a problem for his law studies? Or for his relationships with his friends? Perhaps he will slowly recede to become a minor character - he'll be busy enough, and CJ has so many threads to his life as it is. You do a great job of keeping us connected to everyone, and that is a huge accomplishment in writing! Well done, my friend.

Marc will always bear some of the scars from what he did with our predator. On the other hand, he is clearly in a far stronger position and more secure place than the predator. Marc has no use for the man at all, and that must hurt all the more. He knows he is friendless and deserves that condition, all delivered neatly in the final line of the chapter. I appreciate how closely you read this chapter. You inspire writers to be better. Thank you for your supportive and perceptive comments.

Both sad, and happy. Ben and Jake reunited, their true love restored; who could deny them this? Yet this romance destroyed both Richard and Lee, whose hearts will now bear scars forever. This story has no easy resolution; there is hurt, there is hope, and in equal measures beautifully done.

As Mayday quite rightly said, there are many possible hunts going on here. We know Ted and the roommate are looking for our predator; that's jarring enough. Ted may be toying with his prey, or he may be distracted. But the predator is seeking, too. Will any of these searches be successful? Thank you for your thoughtful commentary, and for your support.
