    Hot and Cold

Thanks, croyde. It's good to be posting the story again. It'll appear fortnightly.
  2. I'm upto date with posting the prompt topics in the forum. Don't forget to link to your prompt story in the appropriate topic.
  3. Eric Whitehouse gulped down the last of his breakfast mug of tea. He needed to get a move on, otherwise he'd miss the bus into town. It wasn't as if they were every ten minutes. Tuesday meant his regular trip to the library and his weekly session on the computer. It was something he looked forward to, even if it often seemed like he fought with the keyboard, the machine, the internet … Anything, and everything. Eric sighed. Once a week wasn't enough. He no sooner learned how to do something, the
  4. Three months on from his fateful phone call. Eric's life continues to evolve and change with help from his new friends.
  5. A more than usually fascinating entry, Carlos. Thanks to everyone who responded.
  6. See this link for information. Author FAQS. First off, you need to 'purchase' author status from the store (it doesn't cost anything). As a new author, your story will be moderated. See this link for help about story posting. Hope this assists.

    Chapter 1

What an amazing, hilarious, perverted start to my Christmas Eve. So many one-liners and whole paragraphs of double entrendres. Faithful to the original? Who cares! Thanks for this.
  8. Well ... Mann's story certainly got my Christmas Eve off to a good start. Hopefully I'll get to the others as well. Thanks to the review team.

    Eric

This is my first proper re-reading of A-Z. It is a delight to come across vignettes like this chapter which I'd completely forgotten. You crafted them with such care. Yes. they're characters we don't meet again, but they're real. Not thin paper cut-outs.
  10. I'm way behind in reading these. Hopefully the Christmas period will present more opportunities to catch up.

    Lending a Hand

Indeed. Geoff can be firm when he's pushed hard enough, or annoyed enough. It's something we don't see often.

    Lending a Hand

You know, I have no idea ... Probably because I don't intend him to be a recurring character (for now, at least). Though, as T&G evolves as I write it, this may change. From the friend aspect for both of them, I'm more concentrating on the supposedly gay guy who has moved in next door to Helen. Again, I'm not yet sure where that'll lead, if anywhere. Story planning? What's that? (It does happen, it's more the broad outline than the finer detail). You've made me think again, Tim.

    Lending a Hand

Hmm ... *Wonders what to do with my first pissed-off reader* While you have a valid point, Joy reacts visually, if not verbally to the news of Tony's handiwork. She's in a public space, she's hurt and yes, shocked, and she realises from Geoff's reactions, she's on very thin ice. Maybe it's a question that will return in some guise? For the immediate situation, her focus is not wanting to go back and see the evidence of her stupidity. Thanks, Tim. You've made me think.

    Lending a Hand

I know. Like the argument he had with Tony in the first volume, Geoff can be firm when he's pushed.

    Lending a Hand

She does ... Hardly gracious perhaps, but it's there. I believe she's having to think hard.
  16. Once they were back on the motorway, Tony glanced sideways at his passenger. Geoff stared moodily out of the window while biting at his lower lip. A perfect day out cut short by his mother's accident. They didn't even get to see Witley Court's fountain in all its glory. As soon as Geoff finished the call from his mother's neighbour, he wanted to leave. He coughed slightly. “So how're we gonna play this?” All he got in reply was a shrug. After overtaking a slow-moving truck, he returned t

    The Story

A desperately moving and haunting story. It's going to be one of those where I keep going back to mull over things. You raise uncomfortable and deeply personal issues. Thanks for writing this, tim.
  18. I wasn't offered the opportunity to comment ... I'll do it here instead. The only slight downside to the staggered release of the stories is the loss of occasion. That tan-tan-tara moment when they're all released. Given the number of stories this time around, I think we would have staggered under the onslaught if they had all appeared at once.

    Jealousy

Like Gary, I was waiting for the trouble which would erupt when one of the two men strayed. Instead you made it into something sweeter, but still truthful. I have no problems with the body glitter ...
  20. I describe my characters only as far as I have to. Take Geoff from Soul Music as an example: his hair and beard, and his particular body shape attract his boyfriend, so I write about those. I leave much of the rest either to be incidentally described or left to the reader's imagination. As a reader, I much prefer that as well.

    Chapter 1

An appropriately Christmassy tale of good coming out of evil, together with a happy ending. Thanks, Wayne.
  22. I don't know why exactly, but this sentence made my stomach lurch. So matter-of-fact about such appalling abuse. It is all too easy to see abusers as monsters who deserve everything they get in punishment. You did an excellent job in subverting that: Mark's helpless self-awareness, and what it was in his life that created who he was later on. Thank you for an eminently readable, emotionally engaging story.

    Their Story

Yes, it would've been all too easy to make it into a story of sexual exploitation - a thing Jack acknowledges. I do find myself writing about lesser-represented characters. I'm very pleased you found it a believable story, Cole. Thank you.

    Their Story

Thanks, Def, you're very kind. I seem incapable of writing a short antho story. 🙄 I'm grateful you found the time to read it.
  25. She? Limits the field somewhat ... And it's not me Thanks, Carlos.
