oh i did all the things about Christmas, it was just couched in not the "lies'. it was the story of Santa and his legends. we told him the real story of St. Nicholas still got all the wonder, it was just i couldn't get the lies out

to CG, moving every few years is just a form of running away from yourself. i have always lived my truth. the idea of lying is so not happening with me, no matter how life hits me for it. my mother, if the truth would not hurt her, she'd still lie. i once told a doctor she lies so much, i'm not sure she gave birth to me. lying is so abhorrent to me, that i never even told my son the lie about Santa, the Christmas Spirit, but Santa? no you uses so few words to say so much. well done

    Sympathy

gary. even the word keening is mournful and hits those memory strings of our own past loss-no matter how long ago it was

    Chapter 3

    wow. the imagery was great.
  8. absolutely no need to apologize. i can feel the emptiness of a home

thanks rj. everyone is qualified to speak if a poem or writing calls to them. i don't care much for jazz, but the blues and blue-grass is a whole other thing it's a scary thing to put your work and, thereby you, out there. authors are more brutal in criticism of their works, than others are. most here on GA are supportive of each others writing. can't wait to see more from you. as to being a survivor, half the time i think i'm too stupid to know how to quit. i try always to keep in the front of my mind is this: if we don't know pain, how would we know joy?

    1. Worthless. Not even valued to pass time with. Worthless. Not worth acknowledgment. Worthless. Not worth time, friendship, love. Worthless like pieces of cloth tossed away. Trash. 2. Where to start. Putting together a life, out of broken pieces of a shattered spirit. Ball it all up and toss it away? Perhaps piece it together. A quilt of a life that is past. Which piece to use? This one, the gentle hug? Or that long ago one, the rape in the dark clo

    Chapter 21

i'm not sure if it's a "shitty move" on Liam's part. he shouldered Galen's rehab and pain alone for 3 months while Josh and Alannah went on the horse circuit. that is a heavy burden alone. if the caretaker cracks, whats left?

    Chapter 21

very sad. can Galen pull through? yes, with lots of time, love and help. although, there will be times when the past will come out of nowhere, grab him by the neck and slam him, no matter how well he heals

    Chapter 7a

love the writing, love the story. hate that the chapters are so short
  14. you did good, both in saving yourself from toxic people and your writing! the best family is the one you pick for yourself. ( i choose you, your twin. )
  15. someone asked me once "after all they did to you, how can you be like that". i thought a moment , and told them "as long as they are alive, there is A chance (with work) to have a relationship with them". i know that sounds so naive, but as long as you are alive you can grow, understand, and change. this i believe
  16. beautiful. it really doesn't matter how you lose your parents they are still gone. mine hated me. abused me. made my life a misery, but when they left, i still felt the loss. your words, tim, echo my heart, even 20 years later. thank you

I never touched you. Yet I sought approval. A stray good job and I wanted more. I opened myself. Shared as never before. I woke, eager for the day. A flash, and there I stood in the aftermath, like so much wind strewn trash. I never touched you. But you shredded my soul.

    Cravings

so very true jp, thanks. it amazes me, how much it can hurt when that connection is withheld.

    Cravings

thanks parker. i'll settle for the interactive virtual world as opposed to nothing. it is amazing to see the people in the nursing home, respond when you go out of your way to lay a gentle hand on their arm when you talk to them.

    Cravings

thank you RJ. i was labeled a 'failure to thrive' baby. i learned about the "punches" early. PS: i'm not sure i know that much about poetry, either, the dang words just fall out of my head.

    Cravings

thanks. other than medical procedures i've had, i've had one human touch, (a hug. it was strange feeling) in the past 4 years. so in many ways words take on new mean for me

    Cravings

thank you. when we expose the dark to light, the dark grows smaller

    Cravings

Humans crave. Cravings for food and drink. Mostly they crave a connection. Children seek a parent’s touch. They play tag or doctor, a chance to touch. If a gentle hand is not found, a punch will do. As adults, the craving remains. Connections of the minds? Making love? Beatings? All serve to make the human connection. A baby, deprived of touch, fails to thrive. An adult shunned, withers and dies.
