    Not a great week here in Valencia. 60+ killed in flash flooding throughout southern part of province. Have a look at websites to see the horrors. Bizarrely, north of the city we have sunshine and I have sheets drying on the terrace whilst 20 miles away a colleague of Paco has flooding up to ceiling of the ground floor……

    Even just the barest of outlines allows us to see the genius of @Carlos Hazday. The world he created was easily one of the best reads for me on the site. His kindness to so many of us has been well documented, Ride on, ride on, Carlos.

    A joy to read - the power of unconditional love. Sadly, not every person experiences it. I was lucky, it got me through the rough times.. Ive just read five chps in a row and @Jeff Burton has left me wrecked. Awaiting more good news or I might have to think of my first 1* only story review……😱😱😱😱

    I worked for a few years with male survivors/ affected by of child abuse. Things came to a head when I realized that I too had suffered. It was time to get out. I felt bad but reading your story makes me glad I did. Take good care @SilentandBroken AKA, perhaps, “and still standing”.

    Pretty lost for words, at this point. Nathan is going to need some tough love to get out of this plus the unconditional love from Dad, Chris etc. I fear he has lost Jess. 😢

    What the man said! There are so many treasures on this site, it’s amazing. There can be funny moments with dementia, we remember my 90-yr-old grandfather being discovered kneeling on the top of his bed adjusting the crash call button to change the radio station, but those moments can be v few and far between. My sister has started with memory problems and anger outbursts. A short but powerful piece of writing @CarlHoliday

    I agree with @PrivateTim, again, which is worrying me, slightly 😱😱. However, I’m reminded of when and how Will forgave Matt years before. He needed time and for the other to realize that the damage done was such that instant forgiveness wasn’t on the cards. That said, when Will did let go of his anger, the relationship was 100% restored. Another v interesting chp which arrived in time to be the birthday present I needed having been push out of bed at 04.00 by one dog panicking about the thunderstorm, smashing my head on edge of a table, trapped on floor etc.; 07.30, the other dog vomits, luckily on floor. So it was great to visit another universe, far, far away. Thank you @Mark Arbour!

    A great fix, thank you. An intriguing plot is bubbling along nicely….. so where is Jackie? With whom? What can she do? All the lovely “w” question words are getting me thinking 🤔

    Wow, my dad died of a heart attack at 57 as well. Playing golf, he teed off at the 14th, knelt down and died. He was playing with a dr, which was a comfort to us, as nothing could have been done. Hugs from Spain 🤗

    Totally agree. I love his take on the youngsters who appear in the stories. They seem really authentic and well-drawn.

    Short and bitter-sweet. Drawing on their own experiences, the writer shares the intimate moments as a parent’s end approaches. So much emotion is packed into a thousand words, beautifully written, of course. “And at the end, peace at last.”

    I’m sure this resonates with many of us. Thank you for putting this story out there for us. And, of course, it is exquisitely written.

    Well up to @northie’s high standard of writing. Present hopes and doubts mixed with an unresolved past. Also starring the great British express bus in the rain and an inability to sit comfortably ….. Written with sympathy and humour. Another great read for a maestro.
