Chapter Eight (Part #2)
Former Member commented on robertlee's story chapter in Chapter Eight (Part #2)
I knew it! ;-) And then he blew it! Why? Rob kissed him! Wasn’t that an indication that Rob has feelings for Bryan? What more does Bryan want? What an idiot! -
Chapter Eight (Part #1)

What? ;-) Even if Rob isn’t interested in Bryan (and I think he is), he seems very comfortable with Bryan, comfortable enough not to have a problem if Bryan Came Out. ;-) -
Yay, I remember enough rhyming slang to remember that’s pork pies/lies! And I’m hoping the “stunning brunette girl who was positively beaming at him, her face clearly full of adoration for Jake” is his sister. If it were an ex-girlfriend, he probably wouldn’t still have her picture on his refrigerator. And he would have been more aware of it if she’s a girlfriend he’s still dating! I’m also hoping that the “something you really should probably know…” is that he’s on the rebound or not Out yet. Or, best possibility, that his friends and teammates have already been teasing him about Andy! ;-)

Bryce had two of the best lines! If I had been the one talking to Alek in Liam’s bedroom, he would need the whole hockey outfit! The mask to protect his face, pads everywhere, and skates to get away! (Just kidding, I’m not a fighter. But he’d want them metaphorically because when I was done with him, he’d feel like he got beaten up! And he’d want to get as far away and as fast as possible!)

I’m starting to think Wesley speaks Español! (¡El pueblo entero sólo habla Español en el mas pequeño de la punta de los dedos de Michigan!) ;-) Claire has her heart in the right place, but her parents probably wouldn’t be so charitable towards a classmate Claire has never mentioned and never introduced to them before. And then there’s the race thing – people claim they’re not racist, but it is at least a tiny factor in the equation even if they deny it. If news reports started mentioning every time a criminal was left-handed, we’d all start thinking that there was something sinister about lefties! It’s how the human brain works (even without having Nuns whacking our knuckles with rulers). ;-)

Chapter 76 Little Rich Boy
Former Member commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 76 Little Rich Boy
Alex is also right about it not being safe for Robbie to leave yet. He would look too suspiciously young to stay at a hotel or motel even though he has the funds to do so. The only other place he could go is back to the guy who prevented him from going to Toronto. It’s too bad Robbie can’t talk to his little sister, she’s the one who's probably the one most hurt by his running away. She’s the one who accepted and loved him unconditionally from the beginning. She’s the one who deserves to hear from him the most, after Nathan. -
You could say, “The End?” ;-)

Here’s an interview with Michael K Williams regarding his role as Ken Jones on When We Rise.

I like how one of my concerns (about the Old One in the UK) was answered subtly in Devon’s conversation. ;-) I think Christian’s motivation is the same as it always was, to protect his people. But I’m not sure he sees Devon & VUN as ‘his people.’ At this point, he has nothing to lose by allying himself with VUK against a common enemy.

Have you ever been in love with your therapist?
Former Member replied to BrunoBR's topic in The Lounge
I think you should tell him, but with the explanation that you want his help resolving the issue and that you realize it’s not a realistic fantasy. Therapists have been trained on this issue because you are not the first and certainly not the last to feel this way. Just be upfront and honest. He’ll see though any subterfuge anyway. 😉 He is talking to his own therapist about this and he’s probably getting advice on how to proceed which ever way you approach it.- 16 replies

Have you ever been in love with your therapist?

Bruno, you certainly aren’t the first to have this problem. Romanovsky & Phillips – Oh No… I’m in Love (with My Therapist) Romanovsky & Phillips’ website I also suffer from Anxiety and Depression. I am on Disability and have been in therapy for about a decade. I’ve found it easier to talk to a female therapist. My first therapist was a Gay man (I was getting therapy at a Gay Community Center), but he wasn’t my type. A few years ago, I had a male therapist again, but this guy was clearly straight and was even more not my type – with one exception, I’ve only seen interns who spend their final year before they graduate providing free or low-cost psychological therapy as part of their training. I’ve had many therapists over the years, but I’ve never had to deal with the problem you’re having. I think you’ve done all you can do. You’ve told your therapist how you feel and he hasn’t done anything to indicate he’s interested in pursuing anything outside your sessions. I know it’s difficult to have everyone telling you the same thing and I know you’d like to have someone tell you something different. But I can’t be that person either. ;-)- 16 replies

If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to meet it. Jonathon Winters

You surprise me, Adi. You know me and know i don't generalize
-
It's the opposite, sir. All sites with the word Gay are screened out, regardless of content. That's the default 'security' setting for most business and private institutions. And it's not secret info either. It's discrimination is what it is

Get well soon, Lacy.

Wow! I wasn’t expecting the visit or the kiss! I think Grant has confirmed to Rowan that his interest in mutual. ;-)

That was an interesting way to get them to touch again! I have the feeling that touch will be almost as important as speaking to each other in building a connection. Both characters are interesting. ;-) I’d read the next chapter, but I really should have gone to sleep 3 hours ago! ;-)

ASL is yet another language that I’d like to learn. I have trouble with motivation and persistence, so I learn a couple words in the languages that I’ve actually taken as classes, but never enough to carry on a conversation. But maybe I’d be able to learn Swedish if I met a Joel, or Danish if I met a Tor or Peter… ;-)

I remember reading this, but somehow missed the next chapters… ;-)

Very cute! Most of us only experience that metaphorically, ;-)

The fictional ‘Carl Hardee Sr’ spokesperson (Carl’s Jr was founded by Carl Karcher, Hardee’s was founded by Wilber Hardee, but both are owned by CKE Restaurants) is an attempt to move away from the hyper-sexualized ads they’ve been known for. It might also be an attempt to separate themselves from the homophobic Karcher family. But it seems to closely emulate the reintroduction of ‘Colonel Sanders’ as spokesman for KFC.

That’s why people have multiple TVs in the house! ;-) I think it was in reference to Howard meeting Bernadette’s parents for the first time… (It would have been a conversation with Leonard and the gang. Leonard was asking if Howard had met them yet.)
-
So they finally meet! Sort of. (You’re mean, @Bndmetl!) ;-)

Why would Jayden expect the Neals to allow him to stay with them? Jayden doesn’t even understand why they are so grateful for what he did. Jayden didn’t know Troy before the beating and doesn’t understand why they’ve been so nice to him even now. Jayden sees himself as a stranger to the Neals and Claire. He doesn’t see himself as worthy of assistance from them. From Jayden’s point of view, he has nowhere to go.
-
Detective Wallace is an idiot! He should have enough street-sense to know that any assistance he got should never be acknowledged in that neighborhood. He, in effect, just signed Jayden’s death sentence! Cops are not unaware of the street code that prohibits talking to the police, especially to provide evidence against a gang member! The usual reason why a cop would do something like that is as punishment for not cooperating with the police. There are historical reasons why the code was first created. During certain periods of history, authorities would unjustly persecute African-Americans (as well as Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans) – in some cases, this is still happening today. The only defense was to not cooperate with said authorities when they came to the neighborhood. But the code has been abused by gangs who prohibit their families, friends, and neighbors from speaking to the police even when it would be in their best interests to talk. Gangs enforce the code by threatening anyone who they suspect of leaking information. But Detective Wallace will get away with it because it wasn’t illegal to thank Jayden and it might not even be against police regulations. But it was morally wrong. He put Jayden in extreme danger.
