Just a minor quibble—I follow authors but usually not stories. So the warning about not following the story is superfluous for me. I’m basically following the story by default.
And also Carlos Hazday—
With all due respect to two of my favorite authors, I have to get out my somewhat cobwebbed editor’s pen—the singular is “ellipsis”.
An ellipse is an oval shape with a specific mathematical definition.
“How's writing going? I think it's going all right. <-- Ya see that! Finally! After all these years, someone actually told me I was misspelling that! Alright All right.”
Definitely your writing is going all right! Years ago when I was working with one of our Classic authors I tried to replace “alright” but never succeeded.
The North Shore got an extra 4” dose of lake effect snow so I’ve got 8” to shovel this afternoon. But it’s 25° And the sun is out. Not that Mexico wouldn’t be nice right now.
Munsingwear patented the concept in 1943 and I was buying theirs in the 70s and 80s until they started having financial problems. I was happy to see Jockey picked up the design.
Great start to a new story. I never know what setting to expect when you start a story! (And just a note—in the American Midwest where I’ve always lived, black soil is normal and very productive).
