Chapter 15: Shore's Showdown
centexhairysub commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 15: Shore's Showdown
Wonderful chapter full of action and intrigue both; I do hate that Wagner is having to go through his actions alone. It is very hard to not be your true self with those you are around on a daily basis. I know he was an ass in the beginning; but I have grown to really like him. Caleb's fight with his father in law was scintillating. I was really worried that the extra speed would cause more problems for Caleb, but training with Vincent definitely helped. I hope he really changes; you would be surprised how often a grandchild can heal so many family wounds. Shore and Vincent was almost too much; I was really afraid that Vincent would give too much away. I am sure that Stefano has someone at this meeting watching Vincent. Kaplan is smarter than even some give him credit for; and we all know Cyrus is; can't wait for them to get the evidence and drop the hammer...- 31 comments

What a real delight; the visit with Jack was spooky but we got a little insight. It sort of bothers me that Dan said Maurice was subdued, usually being there agitates him, why was he acting differently... I truly do believe there are people that are magnets for the weird. Spirits or even just the unusual human weirdness that is out there. They need to be careful; I know that Jack indicated that Cynthia was not in danger; but someone could use her to try and get to Terry. We need to get this seance scheduled as soon as we can. Can't wait for the next update...

OMFG, Sasha does have a crush on Sammy... I am so surprised that Jake seems to be totally okay with this. New Year's Eve is really not a great night to start going out with someone seriously; it is more of a hook up night if you are not already with someone. Can't wait to see what happens next.

At last, they are at the weyr. We knew they would make it; but the terror they both felt was so palpable. Jevikel pushing Kadin to leave him and go ahead; but Kadin; even with his horror of what happened in his first encounter with thread would not leave him. Can't wait to see what happens next. Hope we get a few more chapters before the story moves on; I do truly like these two characters...

Lovely little story about love delayed; easy to forget that sometimes because of where you are raised or your family situation; that you can bury who you really are. Love the descriptive writing about the Alaskan wilderness. Interesting main characters written with charm and wit. The pacing and flow were a little choppy in places; especially during the part of looking back at Vince's past.

Nice story about love delayed; happened more than some people realized for those brought up in some areas of the US or the world. Takes just the right person to awaken the hope and promise of love eternal. Nice descriptive writing; love anything in the great outdoors, this fit right into one of my wheelhouses.

OMFG, Brad was actually right to start with; how freaking annoying is that. I do understand Jake though; the idea of getting the stain of a dishonorable discharge off his record would be a huge deal. The problem is that Jake is use to thinking micro but with this family you have to think macro. There are so many moving pieces and players; you have to consider every aspect of any offer. Jake simply failed to do so. That said; JP pointing out what the issues are, should have had a bigger impact on him. Will handled the situation with more grace than I expected in dealing with Brad. Loved that he was smart enough to block the drive with his car. But the best thing he did was to get Stef and JP there. Jake coming was important; to find out what the driving force behind Brad's behavior was, but JP and Stef being there was clearly the most important thing. Love how Will immediately stood up to Brad when he tried to physically handle him. I do wonder in a fight who would win? Will is younger and probably faster; but even coming down off meth, Brad would be stronger and able to take more punishment. Of course, Will handled it with his viper tongue; that cut Brad quickly and effectively. Jake was making a decision that while it made sense to him; was so much like Robbie deciding to go back in the tower, that must have gutted Brad on more than one level. Wonderful update, can't wait for the next one. Do wonder how easy it will be for Brad to just say NO...

Chapter 14: Caleb's Commitment
centexhairysub commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 14: Caleb's Commitment
Good productive chapter; have to wonder why no one thought about meeting some place warmer before. Love the give and take between Mason and Vincent; but the best was between Vincent and his wolf, that was freaking hilarious. Caleb got a much needed boost from Barbeau, and could he be someone to help Dirk? Sometimes mentors or teachers are often able to reach someone when no one else can do so. Caleb has a right to fight his idiot father in law, but should he? Strong emotions could easily cloud his actions; and being older the leopard might be able to steel his emotions better than Caleb. Can't wait to see what happens with the challenges. Great work.- 23 comments

Dr. Jonathon Frazier took matters into his own hands; as a cardiologist, he is use to doing so. He was not going to allow the situation to frame neither himself nor his son. I think he may well be shocked at the backlash he receives at the hospital or his practice; but as the only cardiologist in the area, that may be mitigated. Parker needs to be very careful. He is going to lose people that he thought were his friends, they were not. He is going to face backlash from some teachers and obviously the school administration. He also needs to be extra careful driving or interacting with the public; the police will take any chance to strike at him. Will be interested to see how the next chapter progresses.

Terry's dreams are getting more and more detailed. Dan being in them sort of throws me; as he clearly would not have been around when everything was happening; but the fact that Terry cares for him and he could be used to hurt Terry ties it together I guess. I can't see Brenda being the one to send the message; but she might have finally broken down and warned someone that Terry was looking into the past. Totally wild thought; what if Maurice or Brenda were more involved then we think; maybe Maurice's Alzheimer's is causing him to forget the circumstances; and Brenda is getting worried someone will finally listen to what he says? Can't wait for the séance.

Damn, have to wonder what happened with Jake that was so severe; they have moved toward divorce. Obviously, no one else in the family knew that the situation had gotten that bad, don't think JP or Stef would have kept it from Will. For some people, it doesn't take more than one time to get hooked on crystal meth. At least it doesn't appear they were doing booty bumps; that can be so much easier to get hooked on, and can be impossible to really detect without a test, other than the actions of someone that has done it. Was this the first time that Brad did this drug? Could that be the issue with Jake? Will was smart enough to find Brad; hope he is smart enough to know that if Brad truly gets hooked, he will need help...

Chapter 13: Vexatious Victory
centexhairysub commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 13: Vexatious Victory
Kaplan is seriously twisted... LOL. Throwing himself at someone that strong just to throw Cyrus off? Well written but a little choppy on the flow; but someone with the battle that actually worked in your favor. Can't wait to see what happens with the challenges. Bravo... -
Great update; and I do think they needed to start moving. The extra walking, especially in rough terrain, may not be good for Jevikel's knee but they need to put some distance between them and the hold. Gatri will give word to her suspicions as soon as she realizes they are both missing. At least Kadin got to say goodbye to his mother; I understand Jevikel wanting to have his say to his father; but Kadin is right, he would have just been beaten. A little surprised that no one thought more about Jemina's death, but guess they have so much to already worry about, and she was going down hill health and moodwise anyway. Jevikel senses someone is following them; could Gatri have decided to check on her beliefs by seeing what they were doing while transporting items to the caves? Could she have followed on the second trip up? Could someone else? Can't wait for next week...

Excellent update; so well written and it just flowed wonderfully. Well, the cat is out of the bag; so to speak. Sort of glad that Karen walked in on them, Sylvia could be a little hurt that Terry didn't let her know but... I do agree that Colin might use it; or anything else he could find to cause a problem. Maurice and Brenda both know something; and it truly scares Brenda. Maurice is getting worse, and I do feel sorry for Brenda; dealing with someone that has Alzheimer's is just a overwhelming task. We know that at least two were involved in putting whomever is down the well; plus, we now have this body in the lake that I feel is connected to this as well. Oh, just so much going on; we need two updates a week... LOL

Loved this chapter; a real delight. Really liked the conversation between Will and Stef, much of what they discussed was important; but more than that it was the tone of the conversation. Stef mentors Will almost as much as JP does, and does it in a different but equally effective manner. I love JJ; but knew a few people that took the AbFab situation way too far; and it was very annoying. I could see JJ marrying a woman, but could not see him ever being truly happy about with it. Stef's reading of the situation with Facebook, much like Will, was right on target. Will is going to probably regret his association with Peter Thiel, but that will be a while off. Love that Frank was able to get Stef. Ah, always love dinners at Escorial, even when they are not blowing up... LOL. What the hell is wrong with Brad; is he having male menopause or what?

A delightful little update. Sammy is just so sweet. Jake is too funny. Still not sure that I really care for Sasha; but wonder if maybe he likes Sammy? Hate that their mother had to work overtime on Christmas Eve; but it got them some more alone time that they used well.

Didn't see this comment before I made mine. Can't agree more that it is very suspicious... More to the point; it is actually quite telling.

Ah, so we got some of the reason that Vikkel is how he is. Sad to be separated from the one you truly love. Hate that Jemina took that way out; although you could sort of see it coming. She had just given up. At least we know that Merida is okay with Jevikel and Kadin's relationship. I hope they are able to get away soon; although with Jemina's death, that might cause a delay. Did anyone find it suspicious that Vikkel was wet on his arms and shirt? Could he have decided that Jemina was just getting to be too much trouble? Merida related that their match was not a love match to start with? Hmmmm......

Chapter 12: Confusing Contest
centexhairysub commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 12: Confusing Contest
Oh, this is going to be so good... A game like no other. Plus, the challenge will be interesting; hope Vincent can control his wolf. -
I take it that perhaps you have not traveled to those areas that you do not think it is as bad in; well it can be. I have traveled quite a bit in the Caribbean and Central and South America; it is harder to notice unless you get out of the touristy areas, but it is there. Haiti and Jamaica are two places in the Caribbean that you don't have to look far to find racism against whites. Belize and Nicaragua in Central America are rife with it as well. A number of countries in South America have issues with it as well, and not just against whites, but Asians, Blacks, Arabic, etc... Asia is a hotbed of racism against a multitude of others. Whites, Blacks, and mixed races are especially vulnerable to it. Even being in almost any country and having one parent from that country and another parent of another race will make you very susceptible to it being overt rather than subtle. And don't even get me started about racism in Africa. Not only do White, Asian, Arabic, Latino's all face racism; in certain areas they are racist because the person being African is either too light colored or too dark colored. Racism is not just a white disease; although in many ways we seem to have perfected it. Racism is found in every corner of the globe with perhaps the exception of Antarctica, doubt the penguins really care what color you are.
-
The attitude of the principle mirrors that of the principles and administrators in so many of the so called good schools. It isn't my problem. Well, it is. If anyone thought the race situation was getting any better; you have never lived in Texas. Except for a few shinning years in the 90's when Ann Richards actually worked at it; the State of Texas has continued to actively support racism and the idiots running the state have done everything they can to exploit it for their own benefit. The lack of education even in the so called good schools; lack of civic classes, history that doesn't cover anything, and truly just a lack of effort to educate the young on the what is truly going on in the world outside their small bubble. The fact that Parker truly does not understand what is happening is proof of this. Unfortunately, his experience is fully inline with the majority of students today. This could get ugly for not just Parker but his whole family really quickly.

JP's great grandfather had money, position, and power in Ohio; might not be on the level of those on the East Coast, but still nothing new money about Will.

Loved this chapter; the interaction between Will, Wade, and Matt was freaking hilarious. Matt and Will will always be competing. Thiel is a tool; and always has been to some extent. He is like some of the Jews in Germany who backed Hitler early because they though he would bring order to the chaos. In a few years; this deal could really change the dynamic in the family to some extent. And I agree with others that this could impact Will at Harvard; but it will only make him more determined then ever. I do not consider Will as new money. The family had money prior to the Great Depression and managed to keep it and grow it; no, they are not part of the original 400 perhaps, but certainly not new money.

Great chapter, and really liking the fact that Terry and Dan seem to be progressing. Hate that Maurice went like that; but Alzheimer's is a terrible disease. Funny how Brenda reacted; but part of that may have been wanting to make sure that Maurice did not get any more upset. Sometimes something that we think is trivial can send someone with Alzheimer's into a frenzy and it can take a while to get them back on an even keel. I do think the séance might be a good idea. Jack being the body in the lake would fit; and strange how when the past gets disturbed that all sorts of things can pop up so to speak.

Another treasure, this crew and officers has no idea who they have landed with; and I can't wait for Granger to fully introduce himself to them all. I have a feeling that no matter what Granger says, that Carson will be an issue. Love the idea that Daventry will be teaching the young gentlemen some of the classics. This is just what Granger needed a challenge, and I do feel that this will be one. Bravo...
