My favorite genre, some wonderful stories and authors. Thank you for the dive...

Well, much as asked by @VBlew, was this an ordered hit; or are they after the data? What self-respecting agent doesn't carry a gun?
-
Starting to dislike the Herald more than Ainreth. Honestly, getting a little annoyed with Fennrin that he can't see what an ass the Herald is. Love that Ainreth writes trashy sex books. Petre is a delight as is his friend.

The Warlock was blinded by Septimus, or more likely his torturers. He gained the gift of prophecy from this. Does he serve Septimus, or just answer his questions? Judayah is evil, not just because he betrayed his order and oaths, but because in the end he only cares about himself. Rae knows the others are coming, but surely someone suspects a trap. What did the Warlock see in the last chapter?

So, the Warlock and Rae come face to face, so to speak.

February 2026 Signature Feature: The Yacht Club by Mark Arbour

Truly a wonderful story by one of the site's most gifted authors.. -
Louis is really lucky to have Eileen in his life. I just love her, says what she thinks and backs it up. And you can tell that she truly does care about Louis, not just as someone she is involved with workwise, but as a person. Louis and Charlie and finding more depth to their relationship seemingly on a daily basis. Wonderful how they can talk and the conversation just flows whether it be work, interest, or personal. While I would put nothing past Graham, I could see his work being the cause of Daphane's death, but not him doing it himself. Don't think he has the balls for that.

Well, Will got rid of Medusa and for his reward got to top another needy bottom, but one with power and influence. Will really did find the perfect gift for Travis. If everyone thinks that Kendo did that to the tires, why is he still there? Is his talent enough to keep him on the show, or is there another reason he manages to stay around? I am glad that Travis and Will got over their current issues, but does anyone think there won't be more drama as long as Kendo is around? Why didn't Will arrange for him to be gone when he was getting rid of Medusa, they could have slithered off together.

So, we get another look at Yarima, she actually seems interesting, when she isn't trying to kill Ainreth. And what does she expect, Fennrin loves him. He will do what he can to protect him. We also get our introduction to Denir, the reasonable heir. I wonder if he has any abilities. The Queen might be crazy, but would replacing her with Yarima be in better? I can't see her letting her brother just assume the throne.

Judayah is truly evil and I hope he gets what is coming to him. He better leave off Tobias, Carel would not like it, and if he upsets him, he upsets the Warlock. Jamal lets curiosity guide him and he finds the perfect shelter with water and wood for a fire. The perfect place for them to ride out the storm.

Weekly Wrap Up (Feb 8. - Feb. 14)

I have to admit, not much into the Olympics this time either, not sure why, just can't get that excited about it. Much like you, never enjoyed going to a bar alone. Even when traveling, don't mind eating alone, but going to a bar alone was always a step too far. Nice when a mixed group, although this wasn't that mixed can just all have a good time. -
Ainreth and Fennrin seem awful trusting of what they are being told by the deserter. Yes, he could be telling the truth, but this could be a plant to draw them into a trap. The place is bound to be full of those with dual abilities or more, and the security would have to be beyond tight.

What a lovely but truly dangerous rumba, and it has just begun. Let's hope no mistakes happen.

The Herald may well be right, but I don't like it; and I do not trust him, can't put my finger on it, but in this I think Ainreth is right, the Herald is trouble. What in the world did they just do? How much is this going to cause issues? And for the love of God, don't tell anyone until the two of you get a handle on this.

I truly hope that Travis comes to realize that Will is right about Kendo. I don't always agree with Will's judgement on everything, but on this I think he is right. Let's just hope that Travis realizes it before it becomes an issue. I totally understand Travis turning to JP, and I think JP's advice to both of them was spot on. He is still the best. Travis has to understand that Will is under pressure from Harvard as well, maybe not the same level that Travis is, or just of a different sort, but Will needs down time as well. Will has to have time to do the things he cares about, not just prop Travis up because of issues in his life and work. I am a little surprised that no one in the family, Jake perhaps, has not spent a little more time around the set or checking in on Travis.

Kaylen and Tomas both realized immediately that John, King of that name, did not mean what he spoke. They will be ready, as I am sure that Kaylen will be released from his order. Could the Grand Master find out something from Rome, how tied is the order to Rome? So much going on, and so well written. This just continues to draw one in.

Eileen, Graham, Pericles & Gloria
centexhairysub commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Eileen, Graham, Pericles & Gloria
So excited for Louis, more so than I think he is. This could really push his art to a wider audience, and yes, all of this individually and collectively is art. I am a little worried about Charlie, I understand how hard it is to just bounce back from something like this, but maybe getting to meet Eillen and see the manor house will do him some good. And what the hell is wrong with Graham. Did he except them not to mention what they talked about the last time they had really been around Daphane? I promise you, something on either her phone or laptop is going to trigger something. I bet our intrepid trio will either come up with an idea over the weekend, or something will come to the fore. They will be on the hunt soon. Maybe the hunt for Graham, as he does a runner. LOL -
Fennrin and Ainreth did what they had to do, not only to survive themselves but to save their people. I do hope that Petre is okay, I will be very upset if he is not. I am surprised that Yarima was in the middle of the battle, if she truly wants to kill her mother, why isn't she working on that instead of constantly going after Fennrin and Ainreth, yes, I know she wants their abilities, but it seems like she would have enough to try and go after her mother. Oretski is like Yarima, he seems to have more than one ability.

The Art of Wanting and Doing
centexhairysub commented on Celian's story chapter in The Art of Wanting and Doing
Well, Alice's reasoning makes sense, but I do wish Dante had taken the chance and come clean about what Mistress Carolyn told him. I am glad that she is working on getting custody of Frank however, I was worried that nothing had come of this. Lord, I almost felt sorry for just a moment for Blaise, but it went away. I truly believe that Frank loves Dante as much as he can love another person. Lord, this is about to get very uncomfortable for more than one person. -

As always, thanks for the look back. -
Ainreth can be a total ass. I don't know why, maybe because despite it all that I do like Ainreth, but the Herald makes me uneasy as well. Petre is too good for Ainreth, he should be treated better.
-
Just WOW... I don't know why, but I just do not fully trust the Herald...
-
WOW, what a family... I still want to see what the back story with Petre is...
-
Oy to the Vey...

Let's hope that if that is the plan of the Queen, either her daughter kills her first, or Ainreth and Fennrin really do start training more and get ready to counter any moves their enemies make.
