Petre made me want to sit and cry. Ainreth is a good person, yes, he doesn't always pay as much attention to some people and things as he perhaps should, but he is honest, and that is much more than the Herald will ever be. To the point that I am not sure Fennrin dying with the Hearld would bother me much...

Frank was stuck upstairs having a miserable time while Dante and the rest were downstairs having a lovely time. Liked hearing some of the stories, even the ones that were not so nice, gave us some great background that was lacking before. Blaise was just pissy, he seems to be realizing very slowly that Frank isn't a little boy in body at least. Plus, he didn't like the idea of Dante having a good time without him. Alice needs to get back, Dante needs to speak up and let her know what Mistress Carolyn said, and they need to start making some plans.

I swear if Fennrin gets any dumber in regards to what the Herald is doing, I am going to give up... No one can be that naive.

Wonderful chapter, and glad we got a looksie at what is going on with Ian and Tom. Honestly, I am surprised but truly glad that Ian is more confident than he gives off. He knows what he wants, what he will do and won't do and whom he wants to do it with. He and Tom are just having some light fun, and good for them both. Like others, I can't get a real feel for Tom. It is obvious that he does care about Louis, as a friend, and Ian, as maybe more, but he is so reserved and reticent to discuss things. I am worried that there is more to the health issue than he has let on, but we will see. Gus sounds nice, but while Ian talks about him a lot, I am not sure he is the one that Ian is really into. I wonder if it isn't someone that perhaps we have not even met yet. Lovely chapter, fabulous story, can't wait to see what happens next.

Will showed what someone that really does care can do; the problem is so few people that could make a difference really do. Just being on the ground, especially Marie with her new EMT license and Travis as just muscles mattered. But having someone that can bring it all together and deal with the bureaucracy and the stupidity that goes with it is amazing. Will obviously has more patience if he was able to do that than I ever gave him credit for. And the fact they just showed up, did the job, helped where they could, and got out when it was time was impressive. New Orleans still has not fully recovered from Katrina, and the lack of support from both the Federal and State governments was unforgiveable. Just when you want to slap Will, he goes and does something like this. Of course, having a major foundation behind you and family with almost unlimited funds helps tremendously.

Are we sure that Ainreth couldn't trip and fall and let lose a blast of light and well, accidently incinerate the Herald? I mean how bad would that really be? Ainreth can't ever seem to get his point across to Fennrin without saying something to upset him; of course, the drip drip drip of poison being supplied by the Herald doesn't help. What is it about mail delivery, no one seems to get any of the letters that are sent to the front; I wonder who could possibly be behind that.

To paraphrase a famous jurist, I don't know how to define poetry, but I know it when I read it. LOL Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with, I do enjoy poetry.

Let's hope that the Butcher has to take a bit to see if there are more than two bodies when the fire goes out. I do agree with @drsawzall, all electronics need to stay off until they are well out of the area. Miami from New Orleans isn't that far, but I am sure that it will be fraught with mishaps and wrong turns. LOL.

I am sure that the Herald simply destroyed the letters until it got to the point, he could not risk ignoring them, or until it got to the point that he could use Fennrin to oppose Ainreth in this endeavor. Cannot believe Fennrin is so blind to the manipulation by the Herald. Honestly, wish we could see what the Bulwark is thinking, I have not understood her position on this at all.

The Warlock is playing at a dangerous game, but should he win, freedom may be won as well. Luther and his party are almost in reach of what they seek, but they need to be careful, Septimus may not be there, but traps could still be set. Jamal did what he had to do, nothing more can be said.

Ainreth found that he could not lie, not to even get his position back and try and get back to Fennrin. The problem with this though is that Fennrin will just fall more under the sway of the Herald and continue to use his powers to use his powers in more and more drastic ways; putting him in danger that I don' t even think he realizes. Will the government allow Ainreth to speak out against the war and protest it; or will they step in and try and stop him, can they stop him?

Ronan and Thomas worry and Kaylen, but he holds true to his vow and becomes one which will never forget. The secret must be to bend but not break. The Baron is right, Thornmere must protect its own, they must be spared for famine and death as much as possible.

Well, Henry was certainly a surprise. Good for him. Dante wants Frank to stand up, but Frank has spent way too many years running under the radar, I am not sure that he knows how to stand up to the situation.

The Herald has hammered home, honestly, in my opinion, not that subtlety that Ainreth was jealous of Fennrin's ability, I never saw that. All I saw was Ainreth worried that Fennrin seemed to keep killing as if nothing bothered him about it, and that worried him. The Hearld is a slimy poison ivy that will only hurt those that listen and believe what he says. So disappointed in Fennrin...

So, we were wrong about Graham, he was more worried about what the police were saying since they were not being forthcoming with him. I can get this, while I don't think he actually had anything to do with Daphane's death, I would not be surprised if one of his slimy clients might not have been involved, perhaps Daphane was shooting her mouth off over something she wasn't supposed to know? Ah, I love the PJ went back to the Stables to find something for his and JB anniversary. He and liked the first visit and had just enough from JB to find the idea of seeing what was going around there to want to take a look around. I loved the idea of the lacquer platter and the design sound too good. Perhaps JB will come with PJ to pick it up and Charlie can find out who the gay copper is... LOL, as @Summerabbacat mentioned JB may just not present as gay at all. I am glad that Ian is clearing his aunt's things out, but I do wish someone had taken a look at everything first. I still at least slightly suspect that is where the artefact might well be. Love this foursome and how all different they are, but how they each bring something to the group. And I truly appreciate how Louis and the others have helped bring Ian out of his shell.

This story was really enjoyable. Part two is in progress as we speak, so you know there is more to come.

I am quite sure that the Herald knows the situation at home and simply is dismissing it in favor of whatever plan he has to take over Orinovo. I am sure that is at least part of the Heralds plan. But how much is the Bulwark actually know how unpopular the actions they are taking have become? Does that factor into what she is planning? Has the Herald been able to hide what is happening back home from her? Ainreth is right in his behavior, honestly, he should have punched the Herald a long time ago. Fennrin is an idiot for not seeing that Ainreth is right. The Arbiter is obviously going to reverse the dismissal, and he doesn't appear to like the Hearld any more than anyone with any sense does.

Forces are gathering, word is singing on the wind, and each have their own tasks to complete. The righteous shall rise up and be ready to defend the innocent and those in need. Can't wait to see what is coming. What side will the Warlock prove to be on, and will he help one side or the other prevail?

Well, Alice appeared to do quite well on the show. I know she was nervous, but she came across great. And I am sure it will help the book sales, anything to get the message out. I don't know that it will ever truly happen, but I so want Dante and Frank to end up if not committed to each other at least involved of their own free will with each other. I know that Frank cares more than Dante, but I do think that Dante cares as well. I so wanted Tom to march over and slug Blaise. Blaise just creeps me out, even what was supposed to be rather sexy and special just came across as creepy to me.

I was honestly sort of wondering if Roux was ever going to make plans to start looking for Iris. I guess finding your mate and bonding would pull anyone away from a task, but finding your twin seems like something that would be truly of paramount importance. Great chapte.
